Sorhija | 11 comments I need help ladies a old harlequin or Mills and boons. I just remember that our heroine was invited in France - French Riviera - by her aunt and uncle to keep her cousin company. She's a redhead. Her aunt is trying to marry her daughter to the hero but he's only interested in the heroine. If I remember correctly her name was Tess (or not lol).

Does it ring any bell ?

Thank you :)

Pravana | 48 comments Hi all
Trying to remember this book ….. probably in the late 80’s or early 90’s.
Hero and Heroine are childhood friends.
Hero has a difficult time with his father. The Hero’s father favours the elder son and ignores / abuses the younger son (Hero)
Hero frequently escapes from his home and climbs into the heroine’s bedroom.

Fast forward to the present.
Hero has been summoned to the hometown because his Grandfather is not well. There are a lot of undercurrents and we get the impression that the Hero has issues with his parents and grandfather. The Heroine is unaware of the Hero’s family dynamics and tries to convince the Hero to patch up / be nice to the grandfather. Hero resists and is more interested in wooing / seducing the Heroine.

Not sure about how the family’s dirty secrets are revealed but the hidden fact is that the Hero’s father is not his biological father. And that’s why the Hero’s father ill treated him in his childhood.
Now the twist in the tale, ( which has an ick factor), is the fact that the Hero’s father’s father fell for his own daughter-in-law. Whether or not she reciprocated it I don’t know, but they have a “purple passion” moment and…… the Hero is the result.

So the Hero’s Grandfather is actually his biological father and his father is actually his half brother and his brother is also his half brother and uncle at the same time!!!!!!

There is a scene towards the end of the book where the Hero and Heroine are both admitted to a hospital and the grandfather-cum-father comes to the hospital to see them…….. and the Hero is missing from his bed.
That’s when the Grandfather-cum-father which a twinkle in his eye asks the nurses to check the Heroine’s room, saying that he had a habit of climbing into the heroine’s bed from childhood….and….lo…. The Hero is found snuggling up to the Heroine in her bed.

Does anyone remember reading this?

Em Bee | 1 comments Hi, I’ve been looking for an HP book I read years ago and I can’t think of the name. My research queries have been futile with Google 😭

h is admin assistant to H when she decides to quit to pursue her passion of painting. H is a cancer survivor (I think testicular) and is not too happy about h quitting, but agrees just with the condition that h goes on a last business trip with him.

They have an affair while on the business trip. While on the trip, they visit H’s family and h promises to paint a portrait of H for his mom. After they’ve gone their separate way, H’s mom convinces him h loves him from the painting she made of him.

h also confronts her dad about always treating her very coldly. Turns out she’s not his kid, and her bio dad was also a painter. It ends with them having a baby after doing a few rounds of IVF bc of H’s past illness. I think h’s name is Daisy, but I could be wrong lol

Thank you!

This is probably not the one, but Kay Hooper's Amanda has the hero-heroine childhood love and FIL and DIL having a child trope. But in that one the resulting child is the heroine, and none of the other details match. It's a fabulous book though.

Acquired by Her Greek Boss matches half of your book. Heroine wants to quit her job to go to art school and hero asks her to do one last job. Her brother and sister are artistic but she has a recent secret relationship with her politician father - resolved during the story. No IVF and I'm not sure about the portrait. I do remember another book where hero's mother asks heroine to do portrait, but I couldn't find it. A recent book Penniless and Secretly Pregnant has a portrait artist called Daisy - also with some similarities.

Hi RomLibrary
I’m sorry, I don’t remember if the plot had revenge.
Like I said the 2 things that stood out for me were -
The Hero’s penchant for climbing into the Heroine’s bed and
The FIL - DIL relationship resulting in a child (The Hero)

Hi Poorvi
Thanks for the suggestion, but I very clearly remember that it was the Hero who’s the result of the FIL-DIL relationship.

Bella | 2 comments A heroine who falls in love with her friend’s brother who will soon become a priest. At a certain point in the book she climbs up a tree and she is wearing a skirt or a dress and her future priest crush can see under her dress and orders her to get down from the tree. She doesn’t understand why he is mad. Later in the book we find out that her crush does not want to be a priest but to the delight of his parents, his brother would like to become one. As long as there is a priest in the family, the parents are happy.so she ends up with her crush finally and her friend (the priest’s brother is happy to be going into priesthood. That’s all I can really remember. I’ve scoured the internet and cannot find it. Pretty sure it was a harlequin but not certain what collection it was in, but I know it was an old school one because families expected to have at least one priest in their family

Hi RomLibrary
Thank you for your efforts.
I don’t remember the Hero being of Greek or Italian origin.
Chances are that the book was most likely set either in UK or US.
Nothing about the place stood out.
There was no MOC or revenge plot involved.

Quite an old one - opening scene is H and h are at a party where the H is dancing quite suggestively with an attractive woman who is not the h. h has been the mistress to H for about 3 years and as per the initial agreement the relationship is to be only physical with no emotional entanglement and therefore though h is in love with H she takes pains to project a cool facade ....could be an old Charlotte lamb maybe.....hope someone can help.

This is such a bad match for the details you provided: in Carole Mortimer's After the Loving, the protagonists have only been lovers for 6 months, the hero dances sensuously with the wannabe OW in the second chapter, and the heroine is so not-stoic about it that their appalled host offers to take her home.

Zubee | 52 comments I'm trying to recall a book ...
I read this sometime in early 2000's but I think this might have been published in the 1990's sometimes
Greek H decides to take revenge on h' s brother who seduced and got his sister pregnant; he believes in an eye for an eye
h is in her early 20's and somehow comes to Greece ... H tells her that he will get her pregnant ... I think she is on his yacht but he doesn't force her and he says she will come to him on her own, he will seduce and get her pregnant and won't marry her so she will be dishonored like his sister ...
h falls in love with him eventually and sleeps with him; I think she has fallen in love with him and hopes that maybe he will give up his plans and fall in love with her ...
they do become close and at one point h asks H if he has considered the feelings of the illegitimate baby they will have and H gets silent because he has never thought how the baby will feel when he grows up illegitimate and treated badly because his parents are not married
I want to say H's name was Nikos maybe ... but not sure about it ...

Sruthi (sruthisays) | 44 comments Hello,

I am looking for a HR where H is titled, his doc diagnoses some mortal disease and gives him few months, so he leaves everything and goes traveling. He meets h,who is an adopted child of a theatre couple. She is a widow and the only one in their family with no acting talent. H also saves h's drowning younger brother and ends up traveling with the family.
H also has an younger brother, i think he has a book of his own.

Turns out he was poisoned by his half brother i.e his personal doctor who was not acknowledged by their father, and hence hates H.

Thanks in advance

I'm still looking for this book :( I read it in the 90's but pretty sure it was written in the 80's or even 70's. I'm also pretty sure the H and h were situated in the USA. Not Europe. As noted previously the comment that stood out to me was the h telling the H when he found her that he told her she could keep anything she acquired during the marriage and she only wanted the baby (probably not exact words). Please give suggestions. Many many many thanks.

Se Mcgregor | 550 comments Looking for a book and I really don't remember much - I think it might be Helen Brooks but I've checked in Fictiondb and none of them seem right.
Heroine's sister or BFF is pregnant. Heroine is staying in a cottage in countryside following end of marriage (very Helen Brooks), and meets the hero - perhaps a neighbour. Near the end, I recall them walking in the countryside and H tells h that he loves her and she rejects him. Later on at the hospital her sister or BFF gives birth to baby and she tells hero she lied earlier and does love him - cue HEA. Any ideas? Probably late 90's early 00's
