I love to do that too, Willaful! I rarely have time to reread, so I just read the best parts of the books.

Kate (kateperegrinate) I thought I would feel that way about paperbacks after I got my Kindle, but I didn't. The only non-e-books I've bought since getting the Kindle are coffee table books and annotated editions of Jane Austen classics.

message 461: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 2 comments OK not 100% certain this was a harlequin book (might have been another line). This is what I remember. It was from the mid to late 90s. The main character was a red head in love with her brother's best friend. The hero was writer and she was his agent/editor. I believe she was about to move in with a boyfriend. For his newest book he is researching a mobster (I believe the mobster was missing and he was trying to find him). The two of them had once slept together years ago after getting drunk.

Sorry if this was rambling. It has been over 10 years since I read it last so I'm trying hard to remember.

I definitely think that collecting books in digital format can work for some. I like having my favorites on backup on Kindle (if I can), but I really get joy out of seeing my favorite books on a bookcase, and buying brandnew books to add to my collection. I guess I'm a bit of a magpie in that sense.

Melissa | 2 comments Thanks Danielle, through a bit more research of books I remember reading at the same time I believe it might actually be from between 1992-1996.

message 465: by Jacqueline J (new)

Jacqueline J | 267 comments I am trying to remember an HP that I read just before I started playing here on GR so I don't have it shelved. It was the story of a man with a mistress who interfered somehow in his family. Something to do with an alcoholic or drug addict sister. He kicked the heroine straight out which caused her some sort of trauma. I can't remember if it was the old pregnant and ill thing or hit by a car and in the hospital thing. Does anyone remember this? There is a possibilty that it was a Silhouette or Harlequin Desire instead of an HP.

It just sounded like a book she might have written. Maybe a Julia James or Melanie Milburne.

message 471: by Jacqueline J (last edited Jan 19, 2012 07:25PM) (new)

Jacqueline J | 267 comments The situation if I remember it correctly is that the mistress says something to the sister that causes her to get drunk (or maybe high, but I'm thinking drunk) and get in a car and drives and has a bad accident that the hero blames the heroine for. The heroine was kind of butting in IIRC because she was not supposed to mix with the family and didn't know the sister had a problem to begin with.

This is driving me crazy. I wasted several hours today scrolling through lists of old Harleys but no luck. :-)

Dalia (daliamgz) | 6 comments Hi ladies, I need your help !! I m looking for a book I read a long time ago, I don't remember h/H names, but I do remember that it was set in Australia.
After the death of her mum, h knows that the man she thought her father is not her real father but her former mum s boss, a very wealthy man, She goes w/ her boyfriend to a party held on a boat - for a national occasion - by this mans company. She attracts the attention of the man s adopted son -who is a notorious playboy - she decided to play along w/ him to reach for her father. When H invites her to his family s private island, the man she thought was her father treats her badly, assures her he is not her father', gives her a check - which she refuses to take - to end her relation w/ H .... In the end, the truth of her real father appears, he is this man s brother
Does that make any sense ?? I really hope so
I m eager to hear your suggestions

Abby Green (abbygreen) | 17 comments Hi there, I'm trying to remember a book I read a LONG time ago ;). It's probably from the late 80's early 90's. It could have been a presents but I think it was a Temptation book- heroine is v bohemian and arty and the hero is v conservative. Think at the beginning there's some kind of radio show/thing involved?? Hero came from chaotic arty background so she pushes his buttons big time and he doesn't think they can ever have a relationship...he was too scarred by his past...I can't get it out of my head and I loved it...help please!
x Abby

Hm . . . sounds like a Flora Kidd book I stole from my older sister and read under the covers. Can't remember the title, but the hero's name was Jason Steele and the heroine's name was Florinda. She was his secretary and he was pining away for the love of his life the whole time. Heroine was his secretary and he marries her for convenience and it wasn't until the end when his plane almost crashed that he realized he loves her. I think this was part of the romance line, not presents line because it wasn't as "racy" if you know what I mean. Also, if this is the book, I believe it was from the late 70s or early 80s?

I'll try to look online to see if I can find it.

Okay, I was wrong. The author of the book I mentioned above is Margery Hilton and the title of the book is Miranda's Marriage. Don't know if that's your book though, Megan.

Weirdest thing though, in the version I read they changed the heroine's name to Florinda. I lie not! See here . Weird. And if they are going to change the name, couldn't they pick a better name than "Florinda"? Seriously!

message 483: by Nier (new)

Nier | 3 comments I read this book in high school and I think it has the words rope, weaver, and possibly time in the title. It starts off in this village that is protected by mountains on one side and an uncrossable forest on the other side. This woman goes into the forest like once a year I think and leaves some sort of offering while this old man sings to a river in order to continue it's protection. Well, something happens and they are no longer protected so the old woman, her unmagical granddaughter, the old man, and his grandson, all set off on a journey to find some sort of wizard that had originally put the shield on the village. They go to this weird land where they meet a family in need of their help because the two older people in the household died without getting permission from the emperor or something like that. So that becomes some sort of side journey. I wish I could explain it better but it's all sorta jumbled in my memory. Please help. I'm dying to reread it.

I have a Sony ereader so that would not help. I have some of the HTs but I would like the very old ones. I have not reached the place where I ca get rid of my HPs. Yet I am reading them on my reader. I need to do something about my books I would hate to think that when I reach the point of not deciding what to do my son will bring in a dumpster and just toss. He gives me a hard time about my paperbacks and Coca Cola.

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments This is just a line or two that I remember about a book .The hheroine was told to leave the apartment NOW because of something she did. He sends a couple of his people to pack up er things and she throws a garment, I think it is something she wore when they made love,on the foot. She tells the person "he will know what it means". I read this in the late 80's or early 90's. I found one book where the mention of not being able to pack her own things but that is not the one. This one keeps clogging my mind, such as it is. Thanks.

message 495: by Nemo (new)

Nemo | 4 comments Hi, I have been looking for a Harlequin for a long time. It had a brown cover - could be presents or romance. I read it in 2001. The hero is named Daniel/ Danielle I think. He and the h date for sometime, but then he hears her father telling her something which makes the H feels h is interested only for his money. Years later, h knows/dates the H's cousin/nephew. In one scene, the cousin/nephew climbs on top of a building to commit suicide or something. Anyone knows this one? Thanks in advance!

Rachel asked a book inquiry in a thread I closed. Please help her out:

I am looking for HP that includes the following info (I think);
-Set in Australia.
-The heroine & hero had and one night stand.
-Hero might be Greek.
-The heroine moved back home and live with her sister and nephew for her pharmacist internship. I think her sister works with animals?
-Found out she was pregnant with hero’s baby?
-Hero also lives/have family in the same city?
-Heroine was stalked by psychotic woman who wants the hero?
-Was hurt by psychotic woman?

TIA,
Rachel

It might be His Pregnancy Ultimatum (Expecting!) by Helen Bianchin. I haven't read it it but the synopsis and reviews sound like it could be the book.
ETA: This is the book. It's available on kindle at ami and I read the first page of the sample and she is a pharmacy student.

Tinadark | 3 comments Hi im having trouble finding the name of a harlequin romance book i read a couple of years about a woman who is asked by her dead best friends husband ( i think he was a rancher or something) to marry her because he thinks it would be ideal since his wife died giving birth to their son and he wants the boy to have a mother. i dont remember much about them but i think the eoman had long black hair. and the woman says yes to the proposal because she secretly is in love with him or she starts to love him after they move in together. i think the babys name is bobby or something but im not sure. I can remember the late wife mother and father came to visit and made some fuzz about the boys name. after they move in they live platonicly for a while but one day he sees her dancing salsa or something in the livingroom and starts looking at her in a different way. Of course the story has a happu ending:) if anybody knows the name of the book or have any suggestions to what it could be named it would be great! really sucks that i dont remember both the name and author.:(
