Namra | 6 comments I only remember one scene so fingers crossed that it stuck with someone else. The heroine is a dress designer and the hero doesn't know. She sits down at the dining room table and there is another woman at the table too. The other woman gushes about the heroines dress and was well aware of the dress designer and then the heroine admits that it's her. I don't remember any other details.

This is for sure, The dark side of desire by Michelle Reid. It is one of my favourites.

JK | 6 comments Hi, I'm looking for a harlequin book I think. The H and h knew each other in university but the h was shy or something. They met again a couple of years later when the H went into an observatory or something and the h was also there. He didn't recognise her initially.

Hiker | 50 comments Looking for the book were the h sister runs away at beginning to the H. H and h are married. He was hanging out with a friends wife. That’s why she left him.
Sister basically forces her to take him back so she can go to a boarding school. Sister is also in trouble for running up hotel bill.

It sounds like Magnolia is a historical. The one I'm thinking of is definitely a contemporary. Thanks you though.

Vintage (vintagesedona) | 312 comments This is to Boogenhagen and others, but I know she's read this one.

Do you remember the name of the book that is set in Phoenix. The heroine's younger sister eloped with the h's boyfriend and has now shown up. The H is the h's boss and finagles a relationship. She calls out the old BF's name at a very bad time. Title???

Thanks, Kelly

message 4011: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 3 comments Help I hate it when I can’t remember a name of a book. Its definitely a Harlequin. It about a woman who thinks her husband cheated on her with her sister and when the sister died left the baby to her husband to raise. Part I do remember that when the woman leaves the husband her car is highjacked and she is cute up pretty bad and ends up in the hospital.

They met again a couple of years later when the H went into an observatory or something and the h was also there. He didn't recognise her initially, bit eventually he did and they get together. message 4016: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (tlefler) | 9 comments Hi all,
I need some help remembering an older one (maybe 1980s or 1990s). All i remember is the end. The hero is buying a house for the heroine. She thinks it is for them to live in together after they get married. She mentions something about marriage and he gets mad and tells her he will never marry her because of something i cant remember (maybe to do with his brother, some sort of misunderstanding where he thinks she is bad). He was getting the house for her to live in as his mistress.
That's all i remember, i'm afraid.
Thanks,
Tiffany

I don't think that's the one I'm thinking of. The scene with the house, they are out looking at houses to buy together. And the H thinks the h has done something like slept with a married man or something. The h knows that the H doesn't love her and thinks poorly of her but is marrying her to get her into bed. I think its one of the older harlequins where they r not lovers until the very end. Hopefully that helps.

No, it was set in Phoenix in either the late 80s or early 90s. When the sister and her new husband show up he ends up putting the moves on the h. She agrees to a MOC with the boss. She calls out her old yuck of a BF while she and the H are having sex.

I've been trying to figure this one out for years. I read it back in the early 2000s but I'm pretty sure its an older (1980 or 1990s) one based on the plotline that I remember. I'm positive it is a Harlequin line. I think its may be a Presents or Silhouette.
The H hates the h for some reason. I think it has to do with her sleeping with another man (maybe the H's brother or a married man, I'm not too sure). I do know the H hates her but wants to sleep with her. The h won't sleep with him. The h knows that the H doesn't like her. The one scene I remember clearly is towards the end.The hero is buying a house for the heroine. She thinks it is for them to live in together after they get married. They are out looking at houses to buy together. The h knows that the H doesn't love her and thinks poorly of her but is marrying her to get her into bed. She's hoping to change his mind once they are married. She mentions something about marriage and he gets mad and tells her he will never marry her because of the something i cant remember. He was getting the house for her to live in as his mistress. But he is so disgusted by her thinking that he would marry her that he leaves. She's upset. And then something happens where he finds out that she isn't a horrible slut or whatever it is that he thinks about her and he comes back for her.
That's all i remember, i'm afraid. I hope someone can help me find this one because it has been driving me crazy for years.
And, unfortunately, it is not Something in Return Karen van der Zee. :(

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I'm glad. I'll tell you how I found it. I used google search and clicked on books. Searched for "harlequin presents claire nick twins" Generally if you remember any names, it's quite easy to locate a book. I "thought" it sounded familiar but I have not read it. Haven't read her older books.

The one I'm trying to remember doesn't have any pregnancy in it. It's one of the older ones where the heroine and hero don't have sex until the very end, once they're married and in the happily ever after part. The reason the hero is buying the house for the heroine is so that she will have sex with him. He thinks she's a super slut who will only sleep with him if he sets her up as his mistress. She is under the impression that he is going to marry her to get her into bed and that's why they are looking at houses together. But no pregnancy is involved.

message 4030: by bel W (new)

bel W | 91 comments I am looking for mills and noon books no historicals, featuring revenge and mistaken identity such as he thinks heroine is mistress/having a affair with hero's family member brother\father\brother in law or Hero's freind , would greatly appreciate help in this.

message 4031: by bel W (new)

bel W | 91 comments And a story where hero thinks heroine cheated on him and as revenge he makes her marry him, then their is a big confrontation at hero's parents house where the truth of what really happened comes out, I think it was the cousin who lied, and heroine father or or grandfather takes heroine away a hero comes after her and think she was pregnant.

message 4032: by Brenna (new)

Brenna | 8 comments The book I remember has the heroine working at a garden/plant nursery or some sort of landscaping business. I believe she lived in a tiny flat above the shop separate from her family. The plot has the heroine becoming the mistress of the hero to help her family.

I'm almost 90% positive that the book I'm looking for is The Italian's Inexperienced Mistress. The details I've mentioned above match this book. However, when I skimmed through it, it seemed different somehow.

For example, I thought I remembered that the H and h had known each other or actually been with each other in the past. In Italian's Inexperienced Mistress, they briefly meet but don't know each others identities. Also, I thought there was a scene where she comes back to the tiny flat at some point. And either they reconcile there or hero remarks on how small it is compared to all he's given her.

So basically, does anyone know of any Harlequin Presents/Mills and Boon that are very similar to Italian's Inexperienced Mistress in terms of heroine's occupation and her becoming a mistress to help her family?

message 4037: by Susan (last edited Aug 17, 2019 11:29PM) (new)

Susan | 2 comments I'm looking for a book from the early to mid 80s. The plot is similar to The Phantom Marriage by Penny Jordan.

The heroine is an artist. She initially had an affair with the hero years ago. She is young and he is a good bit older. She got pregnant, but the baby or babies were stillborn. She treasures a miniature portrait of the baby or babies. She is hurt and they lose touch.

She meets the hero again years later. They flirt. She eventually agrees to sleep with him. She gets into an accident with a drunk driver. He shows his love. She confesses everything.

I love Terms of Possession - M&B classic. Can't think of any similar where the h sleeps with the H while he is married for surrogacy purposes. In the goodreads comments for ToP, someone says there is a similar story from Sharon Kendrick. Perhaps have a look through her catalog. Do you remember anything else?
