Help! I can't remember the name of this book...

These are the only books I can remember where the heroine is a mechanic:

wow, that many! I only remember reading one, probably in the 90's It was set in UK, country town, there was a carnival link to the story, I think. h inherited a carnival or was trying to restore it but she was a mechanic?

In When Falcone's World Stops Turning the h has her masters in mechanical automotive engineering. The H wants her to head a team for a new car he is designing.

I don't think it's this, as it's not a Harlequin... but this series is very Harlequin-like
His Unlikely Lover

Second one sounds like Baby of Shame

The Salvatore Marriage Deal maybe?

Both H and h are wealthy, living in Europe. Having a mutually enjoyable fling. But she's commitment-phobic. Seems like I remember the point that when staying at his place, there's no evidence of her but a duffel bag in the closet, no items strung about.
He mentions one night that they need to move the relationship to the next level or cut it off. I think he asked her to move in. So she grabs her bag and leaves. Later she's somewhere else in Europe helping young girls in distress, like maybe funding safe living spaces for girls on the street. But it's all a secret; she doesn't want any publicity about her efforts. And she's pregnant but not planning to tell her ex.
And the ending (epilogue) - which I might be confusing with an entirely different book - as part of the HEA, he plans a surprise wedding as he knows the idea of actually getting engaged and committing would stress her out, so hey - why not just dress up for a party and then - surprise! - it's a wedding.
Every time I visit this group I am in absolute awe of those of you who remember - or can find - old titles. I can't remember the the title of the HQ I read two hours ago!

I recall a surprise wedding in a Helen Brooks book, can't recall exactly which one. H arrives at h's place with dress etc and tells her they are getting married that morning. I think h got stood up at alter before or something. Maybe Satisfaction Guaranteed?

I am looking for someone to swap ebooks with. I read all my ebooks on Amazon Kindle. If one is interested, please add me as a friend. I mostly have romance novels. Thanks

That's not it but looks like one I would like to read. So that's for the lead.

Not that one. But thanks for the idea. I honestly am not sure that the surprise wedding is part of the same book. For that scene, they are upstairs (a mansion, of course) about to head down to a fancy party and he tells her he's arranged for an efficient and they can turn the party into a wedding if she'll agree - trying to head off her stress of a real wedding. I know I read that in a HQ, not 100% sure it was a scene from the one I'm searching for.

The more I think about it.... I do vaguely remember another one with surprise wedding near the end. In my foggy memory, they are outside walking to party and hero drops down on one knee and says they could turn it into a wedding. It might have been a Desire book. My new Kindle is not as good as old one at searching. My guess for that one would be mid to early 2000's. There are "commitment phobic heroine" reading lists on goodreads, perhaps try browsing one of those.

First book of the Anetakis trilogy written by Maya Banks

The h is a country singer. She and the H were engaged to marry, she decided to go to sing to raise some money for the wedding.
Some misunderstandings and the H jilted her.
Years after they met again, he is a divorcee and had a daughter with heart issues, the child has a crisis and the h returns to sing to pay the operation, And the H thinks that the history repeats itself

Coercion to Love Michelle Reid

nope that's not it. but i will be reading that one!

Any idea of age?

Please help!!

Trail of Love by Amanda Browning might be what you're looking for.

I think it was most likely from the 90's or later. even the 80's possibly.

Wife Against Her Will Sara Craven

Passion Becomes You Michelle Reid

Hilarious review boogenhagen.... tropiest of the tropiest - lol
Is this the book that ends on a boat/super-yacht where the hero says he stayed celibate for 5 years? I could be mixed up with another.

Heroine was a designer at a company, I think she designs shoes, someone stole her designs and sold it to another company to frame her. After she was sacked, she got a job at a rival company with pay far lesser than she was earning before, but she took the job because she was desperate. On resuming, she was attacked on all sides and was wondering why her life was turning upside down, when her new boss, the Hero, told her he is on a revenge mission. Her father did something to the Hero’s family and because her father is dead decided to take his revenge on the daughter.

Captive Of Fate Margaret Pargeter or Passionate Vengeance Margaret Mayo

No, they end on a yacht, but the H's past isn't mentioned cause they only met a few months earlier..

Nope it can't be PBY because I reread that one last summer on my search and ruled it out.
I have been looking for it for years now so nothing new either.

Great idea! I'll check that out.

The Arabian Mistress Lynne Graham

Daughter of Hassan Penny Jordan

Zarif's Convenient Queen by Lynne Graham

Your follow-up comment says you thought the H was involved in finance. But otherwise, the description sounds like the opening scene of Boomerang Bride by Margaret Pargeter. Warning, H is a major jerkasaurus.
