Help! I can't remember the name of this book...

Thanks

Hi Fanniny
Your description intrigued me and I really want to read this one. Do you remember any other details?
Have you tried looking at these lists, you might recognise the cover:

If you find it, please let us know!

Hi, unfortunately that's all I remember. I went through the lists and even checked the ones I have in electronic but no luck. It could be that I read it in Spanish and so the cover is completely different. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find it :)

Sounds familiar, not sure - lots of standard storyline in your desc. As well as teaching, did H coach school sports team? I would guess late 90's though. Was the hero a geek? Did he wear heavy glasses?

It’s set in the mid-east. The heroine is unsuitable for some reason, possibly because she’s barren? I vaguely remember the hero wanting to put her into the harem, she is possibly insulted and says no. What I do remember is she has left and the hero is devastated, and rings the bell for a harem girl and it’s the heroine who comes to him. There’s also a part, I think, where he pays the harem girls off with jewels because he can’t bring himself to have sex with them.
The rope that rings a bell and brings a harem girl is a huge point of contention between them.

I re-read it recently, for some reason mixed it up with Captive of Kadar. Both start with Captive... Captive for the Sheikh's Pleasure
Banished to the Harem

Oh jeez, yes that's it. I had come across it the other day but dismissed it because it mentioned pregnancy and I was convinced she was unsuitable because she was barren. JEEZ.
Anyway, it was after all

Thanks for your help!

yw [book:Christmas Bride for the Sheikh is part 2

I'm almost sure it is one of Lynne Graham's book but can't remember which one

His Forbidden Bride Sara Craven

You're probably thinking of The Greek Tycoon's Disobedient Bride by LG - and it is similar, but the H has to marry the h to get the house for his adopted mum and it is set in England.

Angel is in the next book.

Certain things I do remember in the book he buys her lingerie, takes her to a hotel in Paris, when she first calls him after the separation his receptionist/ secretary is on her knees in front of him .
The receptionist /secretary is rude to her when she visits his office and tries to cause trouble by informing her that she was on her her knees in front of the ex.
Any help in finding the title would be great thanks

Bought by Her Husband Sharon Kendrick. that book is infamous LOL :)

Glad I could help! Happy reading! :)

I have googled and gone through almost every listopia created for Harlequins. I am beggining to think I made it up!
Here is what I remember:
The heroine knew the hero growing up. I think he was a neighbor or family friend. She was in her teens and he was a few years older. Of course, she begins to have that loving feeling as she hits puberty.
She makes a move and he is into it. But, the blood rushes back to his brain, and he rejects her.
She overhears him talking to her dad? Brother? Not sure which, but he basically assures the person he isn't into her. I am not sure if she makes her move before or after hearing him. I believe he was leaving the next day.
Years later she returns to her family home. I know there is a specific scene where he comes upon her at night while she is swimming. They argue, which then turns into some kissing and heavy petting.
I know it ends with her crying, I believe on a beach, because she believes he will never love her. He shows up and, of course, admits he always loved her.
I may have confused this next scene with another book. The hero comes to visit the heroine at her apartment when she is a little older. They argue and then have sexy times. She then kicks him out in the morning.
That's about all I can remember. I will say this, since searching for this book, I have come to learn that this trope is super popular in Harlequin books. I'm sorry I can't remember more.
Thanks in advance for any help!

The one where she kicks the H out the next day is Patricia Wilson's Never a Stranger - it might have the pool scene in it too.
The other one that comes to mind is PW's Dangerous Obsession.

Thanks boohenhagen. I read Never a Stranger and that wasn't it. I am on the waiting list for Dangerous Obsession, so will let you know if that's it.
I seem to remember that the heroine was not quite as helpless as Wilson's heroines tend to be, but I could be wrong.

Thanks! I checked some of Palmer's books and none rang a bell, but will keep checking.

I will keep an eye out, sorry I couldn't be more help. Penny Jordan has a few with the H telling the older person he isn't involved with the h too - but no pool scene that I remember. Stranger from the Past is one of them.

Lol! I just read that last night, thinking that might be the book.
I'm beginning to think I took scenes from several books and made up my own story.
On the positive side, I have read some great vintage hqs in the last few weeks, because of my search.

Legacy of Shame has a pool scene similar to what you describe

Thanks! I read through the description and reviews and doesn't sound like it. But, I am on the waiting list to read it.
If I ever find this book, I will be really disappointed if it's terrible.

This obsessive search has led me to read a lot of Patricia Wilson books, and I have enjoyed most of them, so there is a silver lining.
Thanks everyone who helped! I am still googling and obsessively searching through fictiondb. Much like the hq hero, I will not give up!

I read an HP long time back and all I remember is the beginning scene wear h goes to H's house on his wedding day in the morning. His house is kind of on the hill. She meets H in his home office which has a huge window overlooking the ocean/river (good scenery). anyways She is here to deliver her cousin/stepsister's message that she cannot marry him and has run away in the early morning with her boyfriend. H is i think Italian, he gets angry and makes h marry him as a substitute bride. As usual our h is not so pretty or so she thinks and her cousin/stepsister is model pretty. I believe at some point this ex returns. This book has been bugging me since long. PLease help. TIA

How long ago did you read it?

So I don't know if this thread is the right place, but I want to find some HP novels with themes I like but rarely come across.
I like when h is a mother or at least has been married before (preferably not a miserable marriage). I don't have a problem with virgin heroines but I'm sick of he thinks she's a slut until she proves her virginity theme. I want a normal h with a normal life, and a backbone to be honest. (and I hope to find such stories non revenge related)
Any suggestions?

What about Dani Collins "Love in Montana" series?

Perhaps Desire / Modern might be more to your taste?
I loved the Texas Cattleman - After the Storm - series. Story lines not too OTT.

Have you read any Andrea Laurence books? Especially her early ones are pretty good. Still likely to get the millionaire but the females do tend to have some backbone!

I've read a Desire book once and it was awful, so I have been keeping away ever since.
The Texas Cattleman series looks promising tbh, especially the (Sheltered by the Millionaire) I think I will give it a go.
Thank you, much appreciated

Hope you enjoy! I've only read the TCC "after the storm" and "lies and lullabies" series. I think Texas Cattleman's Club stories have been running for close to 20 years. I got sucked in by the hurricane story and its aftermath. Each book loosely connects to the next.
Another Desire series I enjoyed was Men of Wolff Mountain by Janice Maynard.

Bella and the Merciless Sheikh by Sarah Morgan

I only recall one scene about this HP of the eighties. There's a flood or an earthquake (some natural disaster) and H-h (I think they're married) go to help the villagers or they are on their way somewhere when disaster strikes and they end up helping the villagers. The scene I remember distinctly is that after the rescue H is searching for h -- I think he asks one man "Where's my wife?" and the man takes him to a hut where H sees an exhausted h asleep with one of the villager's child in her arms.
I suddenly remembered the scene, but can't remember which book is it. Hoping one of you will be able to help me.
