LLC (llcspokane) | 69 comments I've read the second and third books but am terrible at title/author names. Silk's mothers nname is Satin. She was once engaged to the H's uncle or godfather I don't remember which. The uncle's family breaks up their relationship and Satin disappears, silk is born a few years later. Satin has history of disastrous relationships. The H owns the department store that the h shows up to do temp job at. Her mother owns the temp agency and Satin helps out as needed. I think Silk designs jewelry.

LLC (llcspokane) | 69 comments I know you posted this ages ago but I just found your third book A Passionate Business by Stephanie James. I just put all of my books on my computer on calibre (about 1100) and I've been gradually been goinh through and adding synopsis and cover. Today when I got to about the last 30 books I happened upon this one. Good thing I actually read the synopsis because I did not recognize the cover or the author. So hope you get this post.

message 263: by 3meg (new)

3meg | 361 comments FYI - I am creating a Calibre database of all the HP's. What I have done is add all the HP's title, synopsis, and cover. Then I added a column to indicate that I have the book. That way I can read all the descriptions when I am looking for a book. I will be happy to share this 'library' to anyone that wants it. I have about 600 books left and it only includes the straight HP's. I have to do a seperate library for the specials, extras and all that stuff....

Hi Megan, I'm very interested in your calibre library. I'm not very computer savvy so i'm not sure how it would work. I also would like to know how you created the extra column. I want to do that also so I can quickly determine if this is a book I have read. Any help is appreciated.

message 268: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments LLC, click "preferences" from the top toolbar. This will bring up a menu. The first selection is "Interface" which has the choice "add your own columns." I think it's pretty self explanatory from there, because I did it once. You can choose to have a column that's yes/no, which is what I did, to show what I've read.

Anyway, that's how it works for me, so I hope it works for you!

Hey it worked. Thanks for the help. I'm afraid to make changes. I've already tried a few and didn't understand what I was doing. Fortunately didn't mess up too bad but unfortanately did cause it to sort differently when I search for an author, but I can still work around it. I did manage to add plug ins to de-drm my kindle ebooks.
So anyway Thanks for the help.

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments Mgan, I would love for you to share your HP library wih me. I am so dumb- what is a PM?
I have been looking for an older HP with a setting in Africa. The heroine marries an older guy and I think it is a convenikent marriage. The marriage is not consumated and she doesn't understand and follows him to a cabin and finds him in bed with a woman more his age. She leaves for another large city and sets up a business. She is away for a number of years and need money to expand . She visits him and finds that he has been supporting her rather trhan a trust frm her dead parents. I thought it was a Yvionne Whittal but can't fine it. Of course the hero lets her know that he has been waiting for her to mature. Please help me fine this titel.

Heroine is pregnant when she finds out that she has cancer. After baby is born she leaves her husband and baby in order to go get treatment. Hero is angry that his wife left him without an explaination. Book starts out with the heroine accidently running into the child she left and her husband in a store. That is all I remember! Help!

Ginny, Not dumb, just new to this stuff...PM is private message that you can send via your goodreads mail. The database is in Calibre and it is just the covers and the descriptions. I have a column that lists the ones I have and don't have. And that is just the electronic books. Right now, my database is only complete to HP 600 (I worked backwards).

Megan I have Valley of the Devil. The herione doesn't have siblings. The hero's mother isn't nice to her. After she returns to the home of her husband he takes her to various social events which he failed to do previously and when he suggests going to the cabin/lodge he tells her that allthe furniture has been replaced.

message 279: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments The I can't remember the title is Roberta Leigh and it is abouta ballet dancer, I think. The h is supposed to marry a fellow that she loves but she is put off at least 2 or 3 times because of the other woman whom he claims to love. This is a ver early RL book that has many more pages than a Harlequin Presnts or Romance. I found it many years ago at a Flea Market. The h was heartbroken but there was nothing she coould do about the situation. on one occasion he hers the H talking about loving the other woman. He does not know that she is nearby. I can't remember much more except they do end up together. Ginny

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments Help! There is a n early Roberta Leigh book that is not a Harlequin P or R. It has many more pages and is about a ballet dancer who waits almost forever for her love as he decides what to do about the other woman. He asks her to marry him at least twice but changes to the other woman. They do end up together but he really breaks her heartmany times. I found this abook at the Salvation Army Store years ago.

message 281: by Melanie♥ (new)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) | 181 comments Ginny,

Could it be Beloved Ballerina? It is an HP from 1974.

The blurb:

Lucie Marlow was a young, talented, and completely dedicated ballet dancer, well on the way to fame and fulfilment in her chosen world.

This might have made things different when she met and married Julian Summerford, who had nothing whatever to do with the world of ballet. The real danger to her marriage, she soon found, however, was to come not from the demands of her career but from the subtle machinations of Julian's jealous and possessive mother.

This story of the struggle between three people -- the fragile but spirited Lucie, Julian, torn between devotion to his mother and love for his wife, and Mrs. Summerford, who would stop at nothing to keep her son for herself, makes fascinating reading.

message 282: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments Similar to Beloved Ballerina - I ordered it a nd found that it is not the one. I seem to remember that the h is in a room and the hero is in a clinch with the other woman and he says he loves her and will marry her. The H is not seen by the two and of course she is heartbroken. The book was a very thik book.Ginny Thanks for helping especially soince I can't remember much about the book.

Ginny, That book is by Robyn Donald

Return to Yesterday

I think that you may have mixed up some books in your mind. The setting is not Africa -- but everything else works.

I say try- I am not as computer savy as you laadies are. It is great to have someone around who knows much about HP's!

Virginia, I'd be careful about putting your email on the threads. If you click on the small envelope on the top of the screen to the right, it takes you to your private message box. You can get messages there, and you can message people by clicking on send message on their profile page.
