Thanks very much, boogenhagen. This is the one I was looking for. What a strange, abrupt ending.

Skye | 13 comments One more request. Again an old Harlequin Presents (or perhaps Harlequin Romance). The book starts with the hero accusing the heroine of seducing and getting engaged to his brother, who is younger than her, but she soon disabuses him of that misconception. She's living in London but heads back to the countryside where she grew up to recover from illness.

The hero and heroine kind of grew up together though he was older than her. She was the daughter/grand-daughter of the gamekeeper on the hero's estate. I think there was an incident during her teenage when she was humiliated for her dress when she was invited for a party at the hero's manor house, probably by his friends. The lodge occupied by the heroine's father/grandfather has been made over to him by the hero's family and consequently inherited by the heroine.

The romance develops when she is staying in the father/grandfather's house and the hero begins to pursue her. She does harbour some hostility towards him but I don't remember if it was due to the party during which she was humiliated or because of something that happened between them.

I've been searching through Penny Jordan, Anne Mather and Catherine George books because they often used the genteel English countryside as their setting but cannot locate this. Any help with this? Thank you.

Raksha | 3 comments A new request. I remember reading it more than 10 years back. Again I don't recall much but a scene towards the end.
The heroine leaves the hero without telling him . But on the way there isn't an major accident/ flood thing on the roadway. Heroine isn't hurt but stays on to help. The hero sees her in the background in a news coverage and comes to get her.

message 2307: by Skye (last edited Sep 24, 2016 06:30AM) (new)

Skye | 13 comments Thanks willaful and Se but that's not the one. In the one I'm thinking of, the gamekeeper/estate manager lodge was part of the hero's family estate and had been given to the heroine's family in return for long service. So the hero's family were the local squires and her family was employed by them. The hero lived in the family's manor house.

I'm also fairly certain it was an English countryside setting rather than New Zealand/Australia.

I love Secret Seduction too.

ETA: I think it might be The Rich Man's Bride so off to find a copy. Perhaps I'm mixing up details about the brother accusation from another book.

This was Susan's original post - if anyone knows the answer.

Looking for a book: Older Harlequin Presents
Heroine: Named Katy Brown/White
Hero: I don’t remember his name, but he was a captain. He was older than the heroine.
The couple was married, but estranged. The setting is in England and they re-meet on a cruise. The heroine is the chef.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Thanks Mari. It was an older Harlequin and this one seems recent. I like Lynne Graham a lot. Do you recommend this book?

I also narrowed it down to a Catherine George but have not been able to lay my hands on a copy.

Mari (flamar) | 17 comments Hi Skye, is a good book but not as angsty as others by this author. Another one that might have a similar plot is The Winter Bride, although in this one h already has a son with H, and he believes the boy belongs to his cousin. Anyway, I wish you luck in your search!!

Mariana | 19 comments Hi!!

I'd love help finding these 2 books that I can't get out of my head:

1. The Heroine works for Hero and they butt heads often. her married sister comes for a visit and heroine finds boss kissing her sister and she gets really mad and quits her job and start to work for his brother instead. Much jealousy to follow....

2. I'm not 100% sure but I think heroine is names April. She agrees to go on a holiday with a young man that she sees as a friend but their friendship is mistaken for a relationship and the guy's greek(?) brother kidnaps heroine and locks her in. She tries to escape a couple of times - climbing a fence and alarms go off and climbing down cliffs and so on. He then takes her to a provate island to meet the rest of the family and so on. I think at one point she escapes and fly off while the hero and his sister watches the plane lift off...

I'd be so grateful for any help at all!!

//Mariana

Hi Veronika - how old do you think this book is? Was the heroine a model? Do you remember which country it was set in?

I think it's a modern romance. The hero is working with heroine's father or have joint business (not sure if I'm correct about this) . The H and h had some age difference. Sorry, I don't remember anything else. :(

Aparna | 2 comments This is an awesome thread! Very impressed with all the solved ones!

So, the book that I can't seem to remember the name of :
Hero is the heir to a desert kingdom. Hero & heroine have been married a few years, and are a globe-trotting power couple. The book starts out somewhere in Australia, if I remember right, with the H&H roleplaying in a restaurant / bar around sunset like they don't know each other. The hero is soon called back to his home country as his father is unwell and the heroine goes along but feels more and more invisible. She feels strongly about maintaining her own identity as she saw her mom having to take over her father's family business (I want to say vineyard, but I'm not sure) after his death or something like that. She takes a break and moves back with her mom. The hero comes after her and asks to give their a marriage a chance; they travel to a remote but beautiful part of his kingdom and get to know each other's insecurities better..

So this is all I remember, would greatly appreciate it if someone can tell me the title! Thanks in advance!

Rose Alice | 102 comments Hey guys. I want to find a book, but can't remember exactly what type of book it was. If you know this book please tell me. As long as I remember, Hero was in love with his best friend's little sister from childhood. At the beginning of the novel we see Heroine's brother recently died while working as a soldier. Hero is a tycoon ,but leaves all and picks heroine up to live with him and his step-sister as both of heroine's parents have died previously and now she is alone with her brother also dead. Oh ! and heroine is the best friend of hero's little step-sister. Hero and his step sister has a very good relation and both take care of each other while their dad and hero's step-mom live else where. Anyways... there is a portion where heroine screams at night from nightmare and both hero and his sister come running for her. After sometime when the sister leaves ,heroine blurts out that she is in love with him. Another thing I remember is hero's stepmom had made and still makes passes at him when she arrives at their house. Hero's dad kinda became manwhore after his first beloved wife died. And makes passes at every one of hero's girlfriend in order to test their truth. Though hero doesn't realise it. Anyway, he dies near the end of novel, while heroine flees due to some misunderstanding . At the end when hero find her,she is pregnant . H takes her back and next day..her Brother is alive and demanding from Hero what the hell was he doing with his little sister. Whew...! I told all that I remember from the novel...I hope it will be easier to find it now.

Rose Alice | 102 comments Another one , and this is surely a hq novel. Hero sees heroine in a party in a red dress, heroine actually has crashed in the party. She is a travels and currently working for hotel where a nigh nose B* checked out from the hotel in a fit throwing the ticket of the party in a bin ,just because heroine suggested which dress would suit her better. Anyway, heroine takes ticket, MAKES HER OWN DRESS from discarded hotel curtain and has a great evening with hero. She also meets his father who likes her instantly. Anyway, for his ill father hero has to take heroine on his island... He mistakes her for another person since heroine used the ticket of that woman. But later hero discovers that she is not that person and she is a Virgin. Heroine refuses to take any kind of gifts or money from hero and insists on paying for her living on his villa as she doesn't want to feel like what her mother was...her mother was a pro**tute and she was bullied her whole school life for that.

Mou
I put them on ebay for a nominal amount. Posted in about 10 different locations, trying to give away, can't find a home for them.

I prefer to read books on my kindle. During 90's I guess I loved to read Penny Jordan, Carole Mortimer, Anne Mather, Lynne Graham - all the popular authors. Living in Australia, I used to avoid Australian authors (these books are all about escape, can't escape when book is based in the same city I live!) These days I love books by these Australian authors - Melanie Milburne, Kelly Hunter, Annie West & Carol Marinelli.
No luck with your other searches. Chantal was also looking. Maybe re-post again along with list of all those discounted?

Mariana | 19 comments Hi everyone!!

I have a dilemma :)
There's 2 books which names and authors mock me!!

1. The heroine works as a nanny(?) and she follows the family to their vacation home somewhere. While she's there her mother shows up with a man. Mother and daughter don't acknowledge eachother as related and so on. The man shows interset in heroine. There's a scene where they get wet in the ocean....

2. Heroine is somewhat of a pushover and engaged to be married when her sister shows up with a man in tow. He challanges heroine in a way she doesn't like. Heroine then discovers that her fiance has had an affair with her sister and she sort of flees home and ends up at heroes home to..... I can't really remember.

Any help at all would be good!!! Thank you in advance :)
