Help! I can't remember the name of this book...

Thanks!!!"
One of my favourite m&b's ever. I have read it many times.

Looking for a book but can't remember much details - heroine was in love with her sister's hubby - the hero- but he disliked the heroine. Turns out sister couldn't have a child so sister begs the heroine to help her have a child with sister's husband.
Very awkward for heroine and hero. I think the heroine gets pregnant and sister dies or something.
It was written sometime between 1975 and 1999. I think the setting was UK (but it could be US). I am leaning more towards UK though.
Please help.

"I'm looking for a mills and boon/harlequin i read some time back but forgot the name of author and the book.. So it goes like this... Its set in Australia.. and the guy is alpha hero and he is new rich but is not accepted in society because he does not belong to the "upper class". So instead he asks to marry this girl who belongs to upper class but the family is financially ruined .. so she agrees to marry him... on the wedding night they go to his apartment somewhere on the coast.. he finds out that she is a virgin and remarks something like wow so I've got a virgin as well as a high class wife... there is socializing and parties and he gets jealous when she wears this dress he doesn't want her wearing and so he has rough sex with her in the bathroom about which he feels guilty." ------- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help me find this one .. Its somewhat like tiger's lair.. it has a long title .....
Thanks in Advance :)

Mou - Please indicate which decade you think it was written. You already said it's not The Spaniard's Blackmailed Bride by Trish Morey. I think I suggested a few Melanie Milburne books too.

Se, I am not sure about the decade, but I remember reading this book before 2013. As per your suggestion I started to read Melanie Milburne books and if I find out anything I will let you know.

Maybe Willingly Bedded, Forcibly Wedded but to be fair all I recall is a marriage of convenience and that it takes place in Australia

Mou
I think I can discount these Melanie Milburne books:
Androlettis Mistress
Castellanos Mistress of Revenge
His Poor Little Rich Girl
The Virgin's Price
Bound by the Marcolini Diamonds
Bought for the Marriage Bed
The Marcolini Blackmail Marriage
Have you checked:
The Greeks Bridal Bargain - They marry to save family home (wealthy family ruined), they go to coast for honeymoon, he had been the housekeeper's son and wanted revenge for his mother's death who her father had affair with. No bathroom scene, no comment about her being a socialite and a virgin though.
I haven't read His Inconvenient Wife. Will try to find a copy of it on open library.
Very frustrating because I'm sure I've read something similar. You could try posting in the Harlequin forum too.
http://community.harlequin.com/forumd...

I haven't read this three book- The Virgin's Price, Bound by the Marcolini Diamonds, Bought for the Marriage Bed.... So I'm gonna give these a try and let you know...
I also haven't read His Inconvenient Wife but I am sure its not The Greeks Bridal Bargain.
Did you read Marrying the Enemy by Nicola Marsh.... I posted this message in another group and someone suggested this one.

Mou - Yes I've read Marrying the Enemy. He has the diamond mines, she has the family jewellery business going bust. Love the HEA in this one. It doesn't match.
The Virgin's Price Actress and radio personality who gave her a bad review, marry to make his dying great aunt happy. they fly to Noosa for honeymoon, she is a virgin but the storyline doesn't match
Bound by the Marcolini Diamonds - Marry to co-parent baby after parents (hero and heroines BFF's) die. Based in Italy.
Bought for the Marriage Bed - twin sister left her to look after her neice. The italian father of the baby has died. The brother wants to take child to Italy.

OK, then these books don't match either... :(

1. Heroine and hero were married but are estranged. Heroine works for a interior design company and hero blackmails her to redo his office. Heroine is a a clutz around anything electrical i.e. elevators get stuck when she's in it. I think she has a stalker that makes crank calls once a week.
2. Hero blackmails wife to a pretend reunion for the sake of his sick/dying father who loves the heroine. I believe heroine can't conceive. One scene towards the end of the book has hero flying back home late at night because of a fax. She wakes up disoriented in the new house. He comes in from the pouring rain.

The first book is Lovers in the Afternoon by Carole Mortimer:
He was more attentive as a lover
Leonie had a tendency to drop things, knock things over or bump into them, a tendency that had irritated her husband Adam Faulkner when they'd lived together--a tendency that her lover seemed to find endearing.
"I suggest we make another appointment, " Adam asserted easily after Leonie missed their rendezvous when the elevator stuck. "Sometime in the afternoon, " he added.
Leonie found herself forgetting the inhibitions that had made their marriage an agony. Adam was irrepressible--not at all like her husband. How could she resist?

That's the one! Thanks!

What I remember about this book is kind of similar to many HQs - one fact is that it had two girls that are either cousins or sisters. If I am not mistaken, I believe one of the girls is either pretending to be the other girl at her own will or is either forced to pretend be the other girl.. She travels to be with the H under the pretense of being the other girl. And then is then coaxed to be the wife or mistress of the H .. I don't remember if she tried to tell the hero who she was or not... I just remember the pretense -
The part that stands out is that ...
she is forced into being part of the life of the Hero (I am not sure of which capacity) but at one point closer to end of the book - the H sends one of his employees or maybe it is his own brother to the place where the two girls lived prior .. This man who travels there - investigates and talks with the father ( who i think might be a pastor, vicar or something along those lines) and the father tells the truth somehow - as to who is truly been with the Hero all this time..
I know this is a long shot.. But thought I would give it a try..
Any help ?

Hey
I don't know if this is a part of your book but when I read your description I remembered a book I read in similar line unfortunately I don't remember the title what I remember is ---- She belongs to Sydney Society (sort of Aristocrats) Hero is low born and even though he is a millionaire he doesn't get entry into the society so he marries Heroine who is in dire circumstances.
I also have a feeling the title had the word society or socialite something of that sort.
I hope this helps

Mou - it's not Willingly Bedded, Forcibly Wedded or His Inconvenient Wife - read them over last two days.

Did you check your shelves Maleka ???

I haven't yet but will do so. in the meantime I thought someone might find it helpful

Hey Mou,
I stumbled across this thread Harlequin/Mills & Boon - Aussie & Kiwi Hero/ine --- https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...
I haven't gone thru it yet

Maybe this Marrying the Enemy by Nicola Marsh:
Jewelry designer and heiress Ruby Seaborn will do anything to save her family's company from financial ruin. And she means anything.Including proposing a strictly business marriage to diamond-mine magnate Jax Maroney—the only man able to restore the Seaborn jewelry empire to its former glory!
She needs his money; he needs her socialite credentials—it's a win-win solution. And if they indulge in certain…fringe benefits of their marriage along the way, that's fine. Because luckily Ruby's heart is as unbreakable as the precious gems she works with…isn't it?

Already ruled out list.
The Spaniard's Blackmailed Bride by Trish Morey and Marrying the Enemy by Nicola Marsh and these Melanie Milburne books:
Androlettis Mistress, Castellanos Mistress of Revenge, His Poor Little Rich Girl, The Virgin's Price, Bound by the Marcolini Diamonds, Bought for the Marriage Bed, The Marcolini Blackmail Marriage & The Greek's Bridal Bargain, Willingly Bedded, Forcibly Wedded and His Inconvenient Wife
UPDATE - I've read all Melanie Milburne books except for The Australian's Marriage Demand and The Secret Baby Bargain. I doubt that it is a Kelly Hunter book (not her style). Maybe Emma Darcy or Miranda Lee?

Thanks Maleka for your suggestion.... I will go through the List and let me know if you go through your shelves.... :)

Hello Se -
I am not sure about the child. I just remember the heroine sent in place of her cousin/sister (whether by force, blackmail or ? - ) - it is def a duplicity -
but def remember - A scene - where the heroine is speaking with the Hero and he tells her that he sent someone - maybe his brother - to the place where she used to live with her father (figure..?) and somehow this "someone-brother" found out through the father who the heroine actually is..
I know it is not much to go by - but I am hoping someone can help .. if it is not some that are listed above..
Thank you again for your help -

Se - I am def going to read this one as well and check to see if it is the one.. thank you all for helping me :-)

I read the synopsis of 'The Australian's marriage demand and the secret baby bargain'. The first book is scandal related and the second one has baby issues. So I think these are not that book.
And no one has replied to harlequin community thread of mine yet. Do you find any clue.

I haven't given up. Making my way through Helen Bianchin and Miranda Lee books now. Frustrating because I'm sure I've read it.

the scene I remember - is where the heroine is in a hotel room.. (I believe she is supposed to be taking the place of her cousin/sister. She is to meet a handicapped/crippled man who the cousin/sister promised that would marry) The heroine brought with her all the clothes and glamour of her cousin/sister and is excited to be in a hotel room with eating fancy meals etc..
she orders room service and a man brings in the meal and I think the heroine has on the cousin/sister fancy nightgown, dress or something and is feeling sexy/seductive and it makes her feel good and spoiled because she is not used to this.
I think the drink the heroine was given was laced with something and she ends up passing out on the couch in the hotel room - The H has drugged, kidnapped and smuggled her out of hotel and taken her away in a revenge plot towards the crippled man that the heroine was supposed to talk to in place of her cousin. He tells her he is also saving her from an awful marriage because the crippled man she was supposed to marry is mean and hateful - he thinks heroine is the cousin/sister and makes comments about how she was dressed when he walked in to bring her food.
any ideas? I am thinking it is a sara craven novel but I just cant find..

I found these:

Hero and heroine are married. He comes from a big Italian family (the oldest) and for some reason that is why he doesn't or is afraid to have children. The heroine used to be a researcher for a TV show and is still friends with the star. The hero works closely with this tall blonde who, of course, thinks SHE should be his wife, so is always undermining her and calling him into work all the time. Heroine feels underappreciated and wants to start a family, she also wants husband to fire the blonde. Everything comes to a head after a fancy dinner when she decides to stay the night in a hotel and leave him in the morning, returning to her grandmother's house. She then finds out she's pregnant, returns to work with her friend, and husband convinces her to pretend there is nothing wrong with their marriage for his parents anniversary party.

I am looking for this book. I don't have any much information but hopefully you can still help.
The hero and heroine are married. They are separated. I think the hero was cheating with his secretery. The story starts with the heroine calling the hero for divorce or something. It was a bad moment because the heroine was calling while hero was "at the moment" cheating with the secreteary. Thanks.
