Jyothi | 53 comments Need to find a book. Its based in Venice maybe though not sure, the h comes across the H when involved in an accident, H has a daughter from previous marriage, is a widower and h then ends up working as a nanny for the child. The h has a beautiful older sister/stepsister maybe who had taken away the h's boyfriend previously. The h and H finally marry but she is not sure if he loves her. There is a scene when they are sitting at a table for a meal with her mother-in-law and the MIL reprimands the h and the H tells his mother to go easy on his wife. The mother likes the h but wants her to not be laid back and to be demanding of love from her son. I think the H's previous marriage was not a happy one. Finally, the stepsister comes to stay with them and the h overhears her MIL telling H to let the stepsister stay and she misunderstands thinking the H wants her sister. She runs away from home but I think then stands up for herself and demands her husband to love her...something like that. Actually, the MIL wanted the h to stop being a doormat with her sister and start fighting for her husband. Hope it rings a bell. It is an old one, from 80s. Very good book though.

Aneesa (aneesa830) | 1 comments Hi. I've been trying to find this book for a while now. I don't remember much, except it didn't have the typical drama scenarios, it was more witty and playful, and it was probably written within the last 10 years or so and it was most likely in the Harlequin Presents series. It begins with the main couple attending a wedding, (in the UK I believe) where they meet. I believe the girl's sister was getting married and the guy was a friend of the groom or of the family, and was staying with them. Anyway they hook up for a night in the house they were staying in, and then the girl returns to New York, where she lives. He follows her there or goes for work. I remember him helping her to paint her apartment. And he was much more in to her than she was into him at first. Not much detail I know, but I would grateful if it rings a bell for someone. Thanks in advance!

JB (bookjo) | 10 comments Anyone recognize this one?

Harlequin where H and h both wealthy. They have a casual hook up relationship, maybe in Paris. I believe the story moves around Europe. h is commitment-shy. I recall a scene where they had just made love and he suggests taking it to the next level and her moving in. She freaks (internally) and says she thinks all is good as is. So H basically says they are done, be gone by the time he gets out of the shower. She has an overnight duffle in the closet but no other evidence of her presence despite the many times staying there. So she leaves; ends up pregnant - not telling him.

I don't think h works in a traditional sense, but she's somehow - secretly - involved in saving street kids (girls). Sets up shelters or something. So involved in philanthropy.

Cannot recall timing, I'm afraid. Not recent. Older than 5 years. Could even be more than 10.

I'm in awe of those of you who can REMEMBER these books and identify them!

Chrisolu | 23 comments Hey guys,

So this is an HP book that would be labeled stalker/obsessed hero.

h is a secretary who lives in small town America, maybe the state of Pennsylvania.

H is a Russian/American mix IIRC. h is apprehensive sbout the H because he reminds her of her overbearing dad.

H parks his car in front of h house overnight which really gets the local gossips going. h finally agrees to marry H, but not really.

I think this is a Lynne Graham book. The loan isn't hers, It might be her fathers or baby brothers, as far as I recall. I'll just look through my shelves and see if I can figure it out

Iszy | 27 comments i'm looking for a book which is either a mills and boon or harlequin romance where the heroine returns home from france after her father has died to find that he had borrowed money from his friend, the hero, who is a hollywood movie producer and has promised the heroine to the hero in marriage as payment. The heroines mother who was divorced or i think separated from the father was in live with the hero and wanted him for herself. The hero had wanted the heroine from time before she was legal. There was an incident where the hero came to visit the heroines father at Christmas and found the heroine decorating the tree and he hugged her or something, she was still a girl i think around fifteen, when he hugged her he felt desire so he left and never came near her again. please help

Maleka | 69 comments Another book whose start I remember vaguely

h goes to H's palatial house to inform him that her step/half sister ranaway a day before their wedding. H is I think Spanish/Italian and in revenge he decides to shoot the messenger so to speak. He traps her in his house. And forces her to marry him.

I remember his house is huge and his office has a beautiful view of a lake/ocean.

TIA

message 1838: by Romina (new)

Romina (rplanas) | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I hope you all can help me. I've been looking for this Harlequin book for years! It was written in the late 70s or mid 80s and it is probably a Harlequin Presents. Ok, so here it goes:

It's about this beautiful girl (probably blonde and who has these amazing blue eyes) and she lives in a horse breeding ranch with her family... she is about 16-17 years old. She doesn't seem to get along well with some of her family members (maybe step-mother and step-sisters) and she doesn't quite fit in the ranch life in its entirety. Anyhow, she was in love for a long time with either the neighbor or the hired hand who was great with the horses (can't really remember) and she kept throwing him signals but he was honorable and ignored her. The hero is older, maybe 22-25 yrs. old. Then, she decided that she wanted to give him her virginity, so she accosted him in the barn (or somewhere similar) and she undressed for him and tried to kiss him. However, he rejected her and made her leave, which she did, utterly humiliated.

A few days later, she convinced her father to send her to a really big city (probably NY) and she became this ultra successful and rich super model. She lived there for a few years until her mother called to tell her that her father had passed away and that the ranch was on the verge of being bankrupt and she had to go and save it. She was reluctant to go, due to her past, but she finally decided to do so and went back. And of course the hero was there and since she was now grown up, he went after her the whole time, but now she pretended she didn't want him anymore.

The strange details I remember is her having a conversation with her mother and she commented on the heroine's eyes, that they seemed to be even bluer than before (they hadn't seen each other for years), and the heroine comments that she had contacts on because her vision wasn't what it used to be.

Also, the hero comments on the jeans she uses, that they're not typical rough jeans, but designer ones... or maybe imitation jeans in the sense that they're not the typical Levi's and he said it drove him nuts.

Alright, this is all I remember. I hope somebody can help me!!!!

Pinky | 18 comments a historical romance where the H is an earl or viscount and his brother is killed while he is away at war and the vicar;s daughter whom the dead brother loved has to be rescued so the elder becomes engaged. Its not deborah hale's or louise allens as suggested at other forums. TIA

Pinky | 18 comments pls help me find this book i read from a lending library a few yrs back. All i can remember about the book is the girl wakes up in a strange room finds a stranger in bed whom she has made love with. She had been drinking the night before either because she was lonely or celebrating or something.she quitely slips away i dont remember if he gets up it is a motel or hotel room. Later i recall she becomes pregnant. The guy insists on engagement. I dont remember much else other then a name george or georgie seems to ring a bell. probably H is a lawyer. Its a old M&B or HArlequin with one of the royal blue covers. The story i think is set in a small town of america. And i think the girls house or farm is a little away from main town. TIA

Hi,

I am looking for a H Presents where the heroine manages a jewelry shop. Her ex comes to the shop at the request of her father. The ex dumped her when she told him she was pregnant, refusing to believe that she was a virgin partly because she didn't "feel" like a virgin and an offhand comment her stupid father made.

She has a miscarriage and the scene, in flashback is a tearjerker - literally. They're accidentally locked in the store overnight.

The restart the affair. He takes her back to her father's house and continues to woo her.

Sound familiar?

Chrisolu | 23 comments So this book is about a heroine who was a model before she married the H. IIRC, the H fell in love via a magazine cover. The h did not want to marry the H, but the h fell for the H cancer stricken daughter. Anyway, h's first husband comes around with some old photos to black mail the h. The H saves the day but the H is still determined to leave.

Vintage (vintagesedona) | 312 comments SOLVED: The Petrakos Bride

Okey dokey, need a palate cleanser after reading one of the worst Harlequin's ever.

Looking for a story (Lynne Graham I think) with an adorable, curvy heroine who is either dumped or flees from the arrogant alpha that is, unbeknownst to him, head over heals for the heroine. She's pregnant of course.

The scene that stands out is he has stashed her in a country house, and has an offensive prenup delivered to her. She's not the crazy about marrying him as she thinks he will be an awful husband. She counters with a prenup that dings him millions if he cheats. Her lawyer gets a kick out of it. The H blows up as his ego is dented then decides not to have a prenup.

Sound familiar?

Thanks
