Could it have been a restaurant, not a vegetable store? I remember a story like this, but I'm pretty sure the hero owned an Italian restaurant.

Willaful,I remember that it wasn't a restaurant. Cause I remember the h narrating her friend/sis(don't remember this :P) that how the date with H went & said that he made homemade gnocchi, to which her friend/sis says something like he is a good catch as husband or something.Oh Yeah, another thing is,the H,his dad & almost everyone(who can see her) knows that she is pregnant(cause it is quite visible). & The hero starts dating her during her pregnancy.

Pam | 258 comments Please help find this book. I read it long ago. There are two older ladies i believe they are the Heroines great aunts. There is a young hispanic girl who befriends the great aunts. Helping the with chores and keeping them company. the heroine comes to visit and offers to pay the young girl or something like that. The hero is the young girls older demanding brother. He is angry his sister took a domestic job. He believes the people who hired his sis are prejudice b/c she was hispanic and hired her to be their maid or housekeeper. He confronts the heroine and sparks fly. Oh i think he is a doctor. It is a Harlequin not sure the type.

Siy | 26 comments Hello everyone :-)
I'm getting Sunday blues aka have work first thing on Monday so would love to read an old HP book but I've forgotten.
The H is the h neighbour and she was living there with her husband who died on the farm and she's trying to still keep up with the upkeep of the business but is working herself to the bone.
The H has secretly been in love with the h since he first met her and is waiting for her to finish her mourning before he chases her and he does as soon as her cousin comes round and she is tstl sometimes by being totally oblivious but it is an oldie but goodie.
Does this story ring any bells? I'm sure it's an old robyn donald book as I remember that the place is based near her New Zealand or maybe I'm wrong.
Any help ladies will be greatly appreciated
Thx

As I remember from the Novel:

I read it in 2003 so it was published before that year, the cover of the novel was half red and half white .

The first scene in the novel is (the heroine) a women in her 20, she has boyish short hair, she was in a restaurant cleaning at the time for closing _ the restaurant is own by her family and they are going to lose it because they have no money _ . while she is cleaning, the door of the restaurant opens and (the hero) enters _ he is rich and they know each other from the past they were in love but something happened and they separated _ she was suprised to see him and they talk a little but then he kisses her with passion and desire and his mouth in her neck and his hands in her short hair.

Another is a scene is of her with him in a some terrace _ which has a table and chairs around it and umbrella _ and she was offering to be his mistress if he help her family , and he accept and they go to his bedroom and she remove her earring and about to take her dress but then he stops her.

Liliah | 43 comments I'm looking for an HP I read few years ago but I only remember few details; the heroine gave birth and they took her baby and told her that he was born dead or something like that , and after few years someone told her that the child is alive and living with his dad and she decided to get back her child. Did anyone read a story like this ?

message 1415: by Christine (new)

Christine | 91 comments I read that one, but can't remember the name. It's an older HP. The h was younger than the H, who was a lawyer. They got married quickly, but his mother thought the h wasn't good enough for her son, and made trouble for the h. The h, being young, wanted to party etc, while her older husband spent a lot of time working. h gets pregnant and mother-in-law drops innuendos/lies to H regarding the paternity. H and h grow apart. H is abroad when h goes into labor, but MIL does not contact him until some time after baby is born. Because of complications with the birth, h is heavily sedated for days after. MIL tells h that baby dies, and that husband does not want her. As expected, h does a runner. By the time H shows up, his mother tells him that h has abandoned their daughter and him.
The story starts some 5 or so years after this. h is now a nurse and sees an ad for a nanny for the daughter of the H, and applies using another nurse's name (who migrates).
Hope this helps.

Geetanjali Hi,I would like to remember the name of a book I read last year. The storyline goes something like this:

The heroine is from a rich New York family who falls in love with and marries an Italian/Greek ? tycoon. But after marriage he gets busy with work and she feels ignored and suspects his involvement with a work colleague,so she leaves without telling him.Her family puts her in a mental facility telling her it's unhealthy to love her husband so much. The hero becomes a hermit when his wife left and he couldn't find her. After a few years she returns for a divorce and help when her family goes bankrupt. Then she learns that her father is kidnapped by Somali pirates and needs the hero's help more than ever.

It was quite an intense read but I don't seem to remember the name.

message 1428: by Michaela (new)

Michaela Tenney | 1 comments Okay I really need help figuring out what book this is. I honestly can't even remember if I read it on my iPad or if it was a book I got from the library but it was about this boy who was really poor and his family was pretty much the crazy rednecks of this town they were in and he starts dating this girl and she's really rich and of course her mom disapproves and all that then the boy ends up getting in a fight with his family and running away, he ends up staying in an older mans garage without him knowing but eventually he finds out and let's him stay and has him working on his car in the garage. The girl eventually starts coming over and hanging out with him. And this is where things start getting a little hazy for me, I think that time goes by and they eventually kind of grow apart and break up because she's going to go off to college or something and one night the boy is drinking and driving one night and hits and kills a doctor or a dentist in the town and ends up in jail for like 3 years or something and when he gets put he starts working on oil rigs or something and he sends money out of each of his paychecks to the family of the person he killed. Then he gets a call or a letter saying the man that he used to live with died and he has to go back to his hometown for the reading of the will and when he gets there his old girlfriend is there too because she got called also and now she's married and has like 3 kids I think one was named poppy. Eventually they find out that the old man planned all of this before he died just so they could see each other again. I know there is more to the story after that but I don't really remember the rest. I hope someone can help me out I'm sorry if it's kind of jumbled, I'm not the best at explaining things haha.. Thank you!

I don't read DP but the closest ones :
Heart Of Stone (Long, Tall Texans, #32) by Diana Palmer
Or
Betrayed By Love (Ranch Rogues / Western Lovers) by Diana Palmer

Isn't "abused / damaged heroine" her trademark ? Pretty much all of her books, judging from the back blurbs X^{P

Verity,as I said...i am not sure if it is a DP book or not. But these two are definitely NOT the book I am looking for :( Hero's first meeting is at the apartment which heroine & her friend/hero's sister share
Maybe some other writer's book...

message 1445: by Tia (last edited Oct 24, 2014 09:37PM) (new)

Tia (tiamaria) | 6 comments Okay Forumers, once again I need your help.

This is (I'm pretty sure, could be a vintage) a Harlequin Presents and goes something like this:

Hero was blackmailed/forced to marry heroine. Heroine thought it was because Hero loved Heroine. (Heroine's father had something to do with it)

Eventually over time Hero cheats on her repeatedly and Heroine learns to hate him. I think Heroine asks for divorce and the Hero refuses to give her one.

Instead Hero forcibly tries to seduce Heroine, which results in raping Heroine over and over. Which in turn results into a pregnancy that the Heroine is very upset about.

Heroine pushes the Hero out of her life more and more because of everything and the issue doesn't resolve until Hero actually talks to Heroine (who would have though?) and stops accusing Heroine of being the reason Hero was blackmailed into marriage in the first place.

I've been searching for a couple days now but going through 4000 harlequins is killing me. Hopefully one of you know it.

The story reminds me of a book, not a Harlequin but Nataha Anders' The Unwanted Wife, the story is very similar to a Harlequin one :)

message 1450: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments I know a Lucy Monroe book that's similar to that, but far less old skool - no actual cheating or raping. This one sounds fun! [shameface]
