Really good book. It takes place in Venice. Love Charlotte Lamb.

Hero is in love with a married woman who is married to a older rich guy . She doesn’t want to leave her husband and convince hero that she is staying with her husband for compassionate reasons and her leaving her husband will kill him .
I think hero works for her Husband . The lady convinces the hero to marry someone to prevent other people from spreading gossip about them . She finds a bride for the hero ( Heroine is probably some distinct relative or knew the lady in the past) . The heroine is not aware of the exact reasons and has some financial constraints.
Hero and Heroine get married and I think the Heroine gets to know about the love affair on the day of the marriage . Finally Hero starts in falling in love with the heroine and realizes the evilness and his folly over other lady.
I can recall most of the story – but am not able to recall the name of the book .

Hi Nidhi,
Is it Temporary Wife by Roberta Leigh?
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Your description sounds pretty close to what I remember of this book.
BTW, I am really digging all these questions about vintage books. I feel like I should be on a game show. :D

Essentially, what happens in the book is that the Hero and the Heroine had a thing that ended up in a child, but for whatever reason (I can't remember), the Heroine left. I think she didn't even know she gave birth. So the Hero brought up the little girl, who was in the image of her mother, being black-haired and blue-eyed. And the Hero hates the heroine and wants revenge on her, and maybe (?) hired her on as nanny to look after the girl. The little girl should be about 6 years old.
It sounds like Lee Wilkinson's Secret Mother but it is NOT. I've read that book. This book is definitely not HP.
Somewhere in the book, it is also mentioned that the Hero is a Scorpio (why he's all about vengeance) and the Heroine is a Pisces (why she's so meek, I suppose). If anyone could help, that'd be great.

Arrrrgggg! I read one like this recently, but cannot remember the name! I went through an older Harley/M&B phase, and read lots of them. This was in there.
H was a lawyer, and married the heroine, who was younger. His mother hated her, as she didn't fit the idea of what her son's wife should be. H had to work a lot and was often away from h. h gets pregnant, but H's mother puts doubts in his mind about the paternity. H is away when h gives birth, with complications after. Mother doesn't call him right away, but tells h that baby dies and H doesn't want her. h leaves hospital without seeing H.
Cut to the present. h is now a nurse and reads ad for nanny for child of H. She has a friend who is migrating, and assumes her identity and applies and gets the post. She thinks that H will not recognize her because she was much younger then, and had frizzy hairstyle.
H hired h for revenge. There's also a new woman in the picture. Of course, by story's end wicked mother was so sorry for what she had done. H always loved h. h never stopped loving H.
If this is the same story, hope this helps someone to id it.

It's an old one. I think it was set in Greece. The female lead is a Silver blonde and the Hero was fascinated by her hair color because he had a dead sister/fiance (can't remember which) who had the same shade of hair. It bothered the Heroine that maybe he was projecting the dead chick's feelings onto her.
And I think they had beach/swimming scenes. I mean, ofcourse they did have beach scenes. Like I mentioned it was set in Greece.
Can't remember the title. Help please.

Could it be Diana Hamilton? I don't know if she wrote anything other than HPs, but she loved the horoscope stuff.
I vaguely remember a story in which the heroine didn't know she'd given birth (amnesia) but I'm pretty sure it was an HP.

It's :

Yessss!!!! You rock Verity! Sandra Field had been among those older books.

Hope you can help.

It's :

Hi Verity, that is funny how there is such a similar story like what I said out there. I like Sandra Field, so I'll give the one you said a go.
I don't think the book I mentioned was Winds of Winter though. It was a thicker book, and the cover had the three of them, H, h, and the little girl (with longish black hair). I'm thinking it must have been a Harlequin Superromance...back in the 200s-400s, when the painting on the cover took up the whole page.

Years later , h’s aunt dies and leaves her inheritance between H& h with the condition that H& h need to stay together for some time . H once saw an magazine article of h with high society event and believes that she is waiting her time enjoying the parties – but in reality she was a journalist.
Due to affection for h’s aunt – h and H decide that she will live in the horse farm . H thinks her to be spoilt party going girl and doesn’t treat her properly. There is also a negative character –( lady ) who is H ‘s manager and wants to harm the horses and H reputation . She continually creates trouble for h
At the end , H favorite horse becomes suddenly ill . H is at the party . h is afraid of thunderstorms – but irrespective of the fear rides thru another horse to inform H.

So the hero's career falls in place and the heroine leaves him due to some misunderstanding..

Thank u so much willaful for helping :)

Was someone looking for a book about a teacher and a football coach? I just came across one and feel like someone was looking for it. Game Plan

The other is where the hero and heroine have known each other since teenage years. The heroine's father had tricked her into believing that the hero had stolen something of value from her. They grow apart and end up disliking each other until they're reunited and they learn the truth behind what happened when they were young.

This could be shotgun marriage - day leclaireShotgun Marriage (Fairytale Weddings Trilogy)

Nope, that wasn't the book I was looking for Jennie. But I think it is very similar in its plot. The book I remember was a presents. Thanks, though! :)

That could possibly be Lynne Graham's "Reluctant Mistress, Blackmailed Bride"

The heroine met the Hero, Colin, when she worked for him for a short time as a temp. The other secretaries had a nickname for him (something with a C to go with Colin - I also think his middle name was Cary) and they all thought he was very rigid and boring. Surprisingly, Colin asks the heroine out to lunch. Later, the heroine takes another temp job, this time with an author at a beach house. She again runs into Colin, but is also attracted to a carefree bohemian type named Alan who plays the guitar. Even later, she takes a temp job at a pretty shady place that gets raided by police. She's taken in for questioning, but allowed to leave when it's clear she doesn't know anything about who she was working for. I think Colin picks her up from the station and gives her a ride home. The two talk and it's all a happy ending.
This could be from the 70's or 80's. Help?

This isn't A Lingering Melody by Patricia Wilson, is it?
