Monique (kadiya) OK - trying again, hoping I might have a bit more luck. :) I'm looking for 3 books. The first is pretty old and I think has a redhead on the cover. The second two would be a bit newer but still in the 80s, maybe 1990-92 at the latest.

1. Selena is about to marry her father's friend (pretty sure his name is Charles) to save her father financially. Charles is still in love with his ex-wife Patty who loves him in return. Along comes the hero trying to stop the marriage, and he is eventually successful providing 2 HEAs for the price of one. I think "he" is related to Patty in some way. I know he is mad at Selena because he says that Charles and Patty want to get back together and she is standing in their way. She is confused because she is sure Charles is marrying her because of her father and is afraid to not marry Charles for fear that her father will lose something to do with his business if she doesn't.

2. During her summer vacation or spring break or some such thing she visits her aunt in Vienna. Her aunt has been involved in helping get people across the border and out from behind the Iron Curtain. She was doing this with the Romany. This time, she "can't" do it and recruits her niece to go in her stead. Her niece and one of the Romany (the aunt's contact) fall in love during the journey. When they get back to Vienna, the niece comes to believe that he is actually in love with her aunt. The scene I remember best is the one where they are headed to the opening night of some big festival in Vienna, or maybe the Opera, and he has gotten corsages for her and her aunt and while he pins the first one for her aunt, she does her own making him upset and confused. It's not a historical in that sense, this is definitely a Cold War story.

3. He and she are high school sweethearts and he is a musician/singer. His name is Race, short for Racine I think. Anyway, she gets pregnant but never tells him and he goes off to have this fabulous career. No clue what brings him home, but he does come back and she has twins (his kids) a boy and a girl. The normal nonsense happens, matchmaking kids, she doesn't want to get back together, he is mad she never told him. But, of course, it's an HEA all around.

Amber (Daisymau) (daisymau) | 63 comments #3 I believe this is The Real World by Kandi Brooks.

#2 I can't remember the title, but I sounds like one of the Harlequin Mystique series.

#1 sounds familiar. I'll just have to think about it.

Found mine! Shoulda looked harder before I put out the word. The one I was looking for was Rough Diamond. Got my little juices wet when I was a kid and made me want to have a pitcher for a boyfriend. I haven't finished reading it as a grown up so we'll see. Got a nasty OW in it so so far so good. ;D

Amber,

Great call on #3. That's it. No idea why I thought it was a Harlequin. In my research, I even managed to find an acceptable cover for it.

Thanks tons!

I'm going to see what I can find in the Mystique line and maybe I'll get lucky.

ETA: I've gone through the Mystiques and it's not one of them sadly.

zuba | 42 comments Hi guys.. so im looking for this one book..uhmm this is how it goes
so the heroine is married to the hero for a year now... but they haven't consummated their marriage.. and the book opens with the hero visiting her in the hospital because she meets with an accident and the hero thinks she was leaving him to go with her Boy friend (who in reality is her brother) .. so after her treatment he whisks her off to his private island and waits for her to recover and has sex and woohoo she is a virgin and then when he says he is leaving her on the island to go back to work to the city she tells him she is pregnant.... and when they are on the island his mother drops in and he has some issues with his mum and the heroine threatens him by saying that she will tell his mom that she was leaving him.. but he wouldnt let her do it.....,... well is reality she was with her bro when the car accident took place but her brother is scratchless whereas she bears the brunt of the injuries... Does this ring a bell ?????

Mitchell | 10 comments Looking for two novels. #1- i believe hero owns a casino. Heroine's father owns boats i think. For some reason hero gets the rights to the boats and promises to give them back if heroine marries him. Heroine throws up everytime hero makes love to her. I think hero goes away on trip and leaves the rights to the boats as a christmas present. Only then heroine realises she loves him.
#2- the only details i remember for this novel is that hero and heroine made love under a bridge. I think there was a fair in the background. After 5/6/7 years hero comes back. Finds that heroine had their child who died. Hero tells heroine that she had _ number of years to mourn the loss of their child but for him, the grief was new.

rm2h | 22 comments I am trying to find a HP.

The hero and heroine were engaged but his brother claimed he was having an affair with the heroine and produced photos proving it. The brother got into an accident where he confessed to the hero that he did not have an affair with her but used a double to as the heroine - he stole the bracelet the hero gave to the heroine for the photo shoot. He also confessed the heroine was pregnant which he knew about before the hero called off the engagement.

Later the hero tracked down the heroine and their son and he showed up to her house in a red ferrari which their son wanted a ride in.

Heroine is forced to marry the Hero after her sister (model) run out on their wedding. Asteropê (21tauri) | 82 comments This is a book someone I know is looking for, does anyone recognize it? They say it's a Mills & Book (HQN) book. I'm not sure if it's Presents/Modern, but it might be.

They say:
the book opens with the doc visiting the heroine as her son is very sick felling breathlessness and he tells her that she needs to move out of this damp weather. She goes to meet the hero and tells him about the problem. The hero agrees to help her and tells her that she lost the opportunity to live in the house with him she will be an employee and nothing more. The heroine drives her little boy to the hero's place and asks him to look after him for a couple of days by the time the heroine comes back the housekeeper and her son together invites her into her new apartment which she finds cozy
The hero hosts a lot of parties in each of which he insults the heroine and in one of the dinner parties one of the guests turns out be heroine's friend who scolds the hero for his bad behavior towards the heroine. the heroine tells the hero that she didn't complain...

It's a second chance/reunion story, I believe. There may have been a ranch or vineyard.

Any ideas?
I tried searching, but didn't get much.

Solved: Echo In The Valley (thanks "Reader in NJ")

It's about a MOC. h married H instead of her stepsister because she loves him. And stepsister comes back at the end too. Hope it's what you are looking for.

Sara HarlequinJunkie (harlequinjunkie) | 19 comments Ok one more...

The book I am looking for is probably a Presents from late 80's early 90's. I can't remember the name or the author.

All I remember is

- Hero losses his sight in a mountain climbing accident.
- Heroine is a nurse I think, I do know they meet while hero is in the hospital.
- He hires her to assist with his recovery, they get married (it's a temp business arrangement)
- Hero regains sight, soon after they are married doesn't tell Heroine...
- Once the cat's out of the bag, heroine knows he will be leaving as soon as he can to climb another mountain and that will be the end of their temp marriage (conflict)then HEA.

If I recall correctly the last scenes takes place on a ferry boat.

Thanks!

Black Douglas by Violet Winspear has a blind hero.

If this is not the one and you remember the cover try browsing thru:

message 982: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments I just read this one, and I think it was fairly recent. The hero is taking care of the heroine for some reasons -- I think she's the mom of his nephew, or something like that -- and she's very ill. He thinks she's a drug addict, but finally her nurse tells him that she's never taken drugs and was just very run down and then was in a car accident. There was a social worker trying to take the baby away from her, and she gave the hero a lot of wrong info.

Christine Zubko | 3 comments I'm hoping you good people can help me as keyword searches aren't working.
This book is fairly recent (no more than 10 yrs old I'm sure). English Heroine's step brother has inherited some shares in the Italian family fortune. I think the heroine is mistaken for the boys' mother at first. Anyway there seems to be a plot afoot to get the heroine to sign over control of the shares to the family to 'look after'. They figure she wants quick money because they find her working in a plant/flower nursery. Turns out in the end the nursery belongs to her mothers family and she's inherited that.
The book opens with her working behind a hedge and overhearing the hero talking how badly the Italian family think of her

Christine Zubko | 3 comments I just went through the backlist of Lynne Graham, it's not her.
what else can I tell you about the book, I remember the beginning so well.
She is persuaded to accompany the hero to Italy (Venice I think) so her brother can get to know his family/heritage. Once there everyone keeps trying to get her to make a decision, which she is pretty cagey about. I think she is meeting with another lawyer to get the scoop on what is really going on with her brothers' inheritance, but that doesn't come out until the end.

A while ago, I read an older HP and was impressed by the beauty of the writing. I looked up the author and discovered she had studied somewhere very impressive (Oxford or Cambridge) and also works as a reporter for an English newspaper. Anyone have any idea who I'm talking about?
