Wow. I don't know who wrote that one. The only book that sounds similar is Flawless by Sara Craven, but I know that's not this book.
I'm curious to find out what it is!
Chris, you're welcome. I hope you like the book!

Does anyone know this one?
It's either a Silhouette Desire or Silhouette Special Edition. The heroine is poor and she needs money. The hero is rich and wants a baby. The heroine agrees to get pregnant by him, and stays with him while she's pregnant. She falls in love with him, and the baby. She tries to leave with the baby, because she doesn't want to give it up, but the hero comes after her. He's fallen in love with her, and doesn't want her to leave. I don't think the heroine was a virgin, but I can't remember if she was married or not. If you can remember this one, I definitely want to find a copy of it. Thanks!

Just one more thing. I don´t know if this is going to help you but... She runs away when she´s still pregnant. One or two days later she gives birth to her baby. And then some days later he shows up in the hospital after looking for her everywhere.
I hope this is the one. :)

This a great website that Jenny on my Yahoo Harlequin Presents Group posted a link for. It will help to search for some Harlequin titles. Plus it looks like a cool place to celebrate vintage HQN books:
http://www.vintageromances.com/
http://www.vintageromances.com/

A HQN:The heroine is called AnnaLouise or Mary Louise ( or some name like that) is engaged (dating?) a rich guy and goes to a charity ball where she wins the raffle and gets to have her picture painted by a famous artist (I think his name is Ross)
She can't believe its the same Ross who she grew up living next to and is disconcerted when he realizes that she has changed her name to Louise ( or some shortened version) to become more upscale and accepted. Her accent has changed blah blah...
Back Story: She used to live in a poor neighborhood (somewhere in UK with obvious redneck english accents) next door to the hero and was going out with his elder brother. She had red hair and green eyes and the hero was always in love with her and kept a notebook of his drawings of her but she didn't know about his love and was involved with the elder brother. Then one day the elder brother gets killed cuz he's in the army or something and she's distraught and the hero goes to console her but they end up 'being intimate'....she accidently cries out the elder brother's name and the hero (delibrately?) hurts her and then leaves her crying....she's scared and runs away....
NOW: he finds her and paints her. The hero's younger brother (I think his name was Ryan) finally reveals to her about the hero's love, about how much he loved her and how he had been the one to keep the neighborhood kids from bullying her and not his elder brother, also tells her about how right after she left her house the hero had gone to her house to apologize to her for hurting her and then saw the lock at her door. This had traumatized the hero for a long long time and he had been searching for the heroine for longest time but couldn't and had to give her up. He also shows her his drawings so they reconcile.
P.S: the heroine actually thought that Ryan's wife was hero's girlfriend and she ran away again but then when Ryan confronts her, she realises that that woman is not the hero's beloved and that she loves the hero too....
The end...
Problem: What's the name of this book? =P

could be - I really don't remember o_O - I'm sorry - I think the eldest brother's name was Lucas (not sure though) - there was also a scene in the book when the hero's parents (who do not like his art) throw away his art supplies and the heroine tries to comfort the hero (this is when they were young) - and he sort of taunts her in a way which asks if she's really ready to truly comfort him - making her feel helpless =(

I read a HP book where the heroine was an artist, and she's a real free spirit. She gets involved with the hero briefly, but they break up. He's kind of uptight and judgmentalish. Doesn't care for her, but ends up being attracted to her. I think she was friends with his brother, but the hero thinks they are casual lovers. I think she gets pregnant and goes to France or Italy to live. The hero ends up following her. I think this book is what I thought of with your description. Pretty sure it's not the same book though. If you guys recognize this book, let me know b/c I'd love a copy.

I remember liking it because the heroine is a new-agey type, but portrayed in a very respectful manner. It was so unlike most HPs. (Or romances in general.)

Post from Bnic to find a book (moved from redundant thread)
I am searching for a book I read several years ago. The hero or heroine are forced to marry. He is disdainful of her and refers to her as a mouse, wren, or sparrow. The cover of this book I recall bring similar to Robyn Donald, The Guarded Heart.

Do you remember why they're forced to marry? Is it an older HP book? Is it set in a different country? Does he call her mouse, wren, OR sparrow, or does he call her all of those things?
I'm reading some of the older HP books, mostly the ones set in other countries right now, but if I come across this book I'll let you know. My Grandma has a couple hundred older HP books so she might have this book. I can check the covers too. Do you mean The Guarded Heart cover that is sort of orange-y?

I don't remember a lot of specifics, including the country. The book was published before HP started having the red banner on top. I read it in 1997. However, I purchased it from a used book store. So, it could have been published anytime before that. Yes, the Guareded Heart cover was orange-y. I believe the posture was a litte different in this book, with her facing forward or up, with him standing behind. I purchased the Guareded Heart because I thought it was the book. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking for a book where the Heroine and Hero set up by the Hero's aunt who's also the Heroine's boss. They are tricked into taking a vacation together, I think it's for scuba diving off an island near the Great Barrier Reef.
But the Heroine is actually terrified of water due to a plane accident with her deceased husband. I believe she lost both her husband and her baby (she was pregnant) in the accident.
A few other details include the Heroine taking care of children while they're on the island, she also gets thrown into the water by some crew members, and she also tells a story to the crew about how she went diving with great whales once...
Anyone happen to know what this book is called? It's driving me insane!

My friend read this book 10 years ago, more or less. The hero is a bodyguard and the heroine is in danger. She is a witness of some crime commited by her ex-lover. My friend doesn´t remember much details but one thing she remembers is that in a certain point, the bad guy seduces her reading to her a poem by Keats. She is very naive and she gets involved by him. My friend is not certain, but she thinks he kills her family. That´s maybe when she runs away and asks for help to the FBI. So, that´s when she meets the hero. He will be her bodyguard and they both have to hide in a hut..
Does anyone have a slight idea of what story could it be? Thanks

I don't remember much about the names of the hero/heroine but I know that the heroine (Let's call her 'B') is friends with a guy (lets call him 'C') who she thinks is not hunk material - she thinks that she's in love with this other guy (probably called Alex although I can't be certain) who's her teenage crush and she thinks he's the s#$^ but he left her for some reason - and actually as a reader you are like "WOMAN, WHY ARE YOU SO HUNG UP ON HIM WHEN HE TREATED YOU THAT BAD? -
Anyway, so where was I? - oh, yeah -she's still hung up on him - there comes a situation where all three end up together and the heroine realizes that Alex is not the guy she thought he was cuz he spends the whole trip trying to ( for the lack of better word) violate her by touching her inappropriately under the table and stuff. She realizes that she is in love with her friend (C) cuz he supports her while shes fighting off and being repulsed by Alex and she's really attracted to C's subtle manliness.
I read this book a long time ago but I loved it cuz the underdog won!
Help, anyone?

This is a book I read by Anne Hampson with the same plot:
Enchanted Dawn by Anne Hampson
Tragedy had hit Teri Manders and her brother Jon at the same time, when Jon's wife ran away with Teri's fiance. So the unexpected offer to Jon of a farm in the Transvaal couldn't have come at a better moment. It would give Jon a chance to build a new life for himself and his little daughter, while Teri could look after them both and forget about men for a long, long time.
Brand Royce must be avoided from now on, Teri decided firmly. He was becoming far more authoritative. Besides, she had changed in some indefinable way, so that she found it difficult to ignore Brand's compelling personality.
"All men aren't the same, Teri," he said. "You must get that idea out of your mind."
But Teri wasn't sure she was really ready to trust a man again.

It´s not a recent book.
The heroine is passing a season at some friends home. She is recovering from a leg injury which causes her to limp. The hosts (a couple) are also receiving another guest for a while. I think he was a singer and has a trauma related to music. At the end of the book I think he returns to sing and in a concert he sings a song he made for her. I remember in the beginning of the book, there´s a party in the house, and her host persuades her to leave the bedroom and join the party. The hero is also there and he is quite ironical and sarcastic.
Thank you!!

it's Don't Ask Me Now by emma darcy

I read a book a a few years ago and I really want to figure out what it was it is driving me crazy. The only thing I remember was the hero locking the girl up in a hotel room or palace, but she was just in one room, she couldn't leave and then he would come back in the room every so often and would seduce her... any ideas. I'm pretty sure it is a Harlequin Presents book and was published some time after 2001 I'm pretty sure.

Was she his temporary secretary? Charlotte Lamb wrote a book called Heart on Fire where the H is a CEO of a company and needed a temporary secretary. The h is a wannabe actress working in a hotel as a secretary. He arranges for her to work for him but locks her in the hotel so that she couldn't release any sensitive info as H is taking over a company. That part was on in the beginning of the book. later she goes to work for his blind father because the hotel fired her due to H's inadvertent harsh words about her.

That sounds really good thanks for your help! I actually figured out the title of the book I was looking for it is by Jane Porter and is called the Italian's Virgin Princess. One of my favorite books it is actually the last of a trilogy and I read all three and loved them, I would definitely recommend reading them!!

I will have to give The Italian's Virgin Princess a try. I'm still on the fence about Jane Porter's books.

My friend thinks the heroine´s name is Emily (or Emilie)... She is an orfan and lives with her aunt and her cousin. She has a birthmark on her face and she is treated like a housemaid by her cousin and aunt. She falls in love with her cousin´s greek boyfriend. There´s a moment when she dyes her hair because she finds out that he likes blond girls. I don´t know if she runs away or if she just leaves the house... she has an accident and because of that she makes a plastic surgery. Later the hero falls in love with her and they get married. I guess she changes her name too. She wants to ger revenged from everyone who made her life miserable.
I know this story reminds a lot "The Rose of Lucifer" by Anne Hampson but it´s not the same story. I´m sorry i can´t give more details. I hope this is enough for you to help me. Thanks a lot!!!
