Aruana | 248 comments I'm looking for a book where the hero owned a football team - in England - I think he was Russian - an oligarch. He contracts the heroine to have his baby. She's standing in for her sister.

I loved the whole owning a football team theme - reminded me of Roman Abramovich who owns Chelsea Football Club. And it's hot!

Thanks!

You're welcome Aruana. :)
I vaguely remember liking the book. Unlike most HP heroines the girl was a little spunky so...Probably calls for a re-read... ;)

Jessie posted this on the Dangerous Hero group:

Hi, i've been looking for a book for ages and i don't know if you can help me
To begin, there is a boy and girl, college sweethearts I think he's in college to be a lawyer and I think she might be in for a counciler??
Anyway she gets pregnant but he doesn't want the baby so says get rid of it or he'll break up with her. She obviously leaves.
He has a change of heart when she's giving birth and goes to the hospital but she's her with another man...he then leaves without speaking to her
Years later he sees a little girl in a shop with her babysitter and thinks ' oh that's my child or some think like that, and it carries on from there.
I really hope you can help me find it

LoveRomance | 16 comments I just read The Andreou Marriage Arrangement, which I enjoyed again very much, but thought I was going to read a book similar but more like this:
* Also takes place in Australia
* Beautiful wife being stalked
* Husband wanted her to be more careful and have security, but she didn't want to bother and didn't take threat seriously
* Heroine might have owned a dress shop or been a designer?

Anyone familiar with this story?

Wow, I think that might be it. But then I read the reviews of that title, and most readers really disliked it. Makes me wonder why I'm wanting to re-read it?

Thanks for help. Would love recommendations for HPs closer to feel of The Andreou Marriage Arrangement which just made me so happy the other day.

3meg | 361 comments LoveRomance - I don't think it is a bad book it is just very similiar to several others by this author. Sheseemed to fall into a rut...I will re-read The Andreou Marriage Arrangment to find some more like it...

Bigmama74 | 4 comments does this ring any bells to someone?????

She has this clandistine meeting with a man in an alclove. If I'm correct it was so he could kiss her and she would be soiled in the eyes of an unwelcome suitor. But things go wrong and she ends up making love to another man, who will be the hero in this story. She appears to him as some mysterious woman, while in public she the proper lady thus confusing the hero.

It's a series I believe and he's the good brother. Please help me out so I can have my sleep again

thanks

No offense but this probably isn't the best place to ask your question. You are posting on "HARLEQUIN PRESENTS" discussion which are romance books. Maybe one of the posters here will recognize the book but it would be better to post your question on a board where childrens books are discussed.

message 721: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) I'm looking for a book I've read a couple of months ago.
The beginning most probably took place in Spain (or maybe Italy), hero was a count or something and if he wanted to inherit his family's castle he would have to marry a woman from his grandmother's choice. When he leaves the castle after an argument, he stumbles upon a heroine, who is currently on holidays recovering from a break-up with her boyfriend who is now marrying her best friend. The heroine also has injured legs from a car accident when she was a child. She made a deal with hero, she would marry him if he comes to her ex's wedding with her.

The book you want is, I think: The Greek Bridegroom (Dimitriades, #2) . Rebekah is stalked by her ex husband and she does have a flower shop. As Megan said most of her books have the same story line. I am thinking about another book where the h is stalked by the fellow from whom she broke their engagement because he tried to rape her just days before they were to marry. I will look at my books.

Okay, I found it! The book you want isThe Greek Tycoon's Virgin Wife? I picked out a few titles that you might like. Be warned that they tend to have the same plot.o[bookcover:] Public Marriage, Private Secrets by Helen Bianchin Bride, Bought and Paid For (Harlequin Presents, #2907) by Helen Bianchin The High-Society Wife (Ruthless) (Harlequin Presents, #2517) by Helen Bianchin A Convenient Bridegroom by Helen Bianchin Touch the Flame (Harlequin Presents, #1240) by Helen Bianchin

Then the books were always the same but I stuck though I was disappointed. Possibly Hers to Take by Kate Anders.

A woman who dares...
Sienna Parker's one tough but gorgeous cop who always gets her man. And now there's a bet at stake! The Women Who Dare have challenged her to seduce the guy who has just saluted her, and get a souvenir off of him. But this man may be a challenge: he's sexy, straight-as-an-arrow A. J. Camacho, a hotshot U.S. Navy SEAL, who's dogging Sienna's every step on an important case. Meanwhile, she's thinking their first step should be toward the bedroom!

And the man who loves her!
A.J. is on the lookout to find his brother and clear his name. The only lead A.J.'s got is a confusing connection between his brother and the sexy cop, who only wants to arrest him ASAP and ask questions later. A.J. knows he has to stick close to this headstrong, butt-kicking woman, but he doesn't mind one bit. In fact, he's determined to put things right, and if he has to sacrifice his body to sexy-as-all-get-out Sienna to do it...he will.

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Ladies, I am looking for a book I read sometime in the 70's...where a young woman is blackmailed into marriage....she is about 17 or 18 years old and gets married to a ruthless older greek male. He is a famous well respected doctor. She is so scared, that she flees and disappears for like 5 years. In that five years, she becomes a nurse...Somehow she finds that he is now a doctor at the hospital she is working...they play it cool, not announcing that they are husband and wife. She gets to know him better and actually starts to fall in love with him.....He somehow thinks she is going to do another cut and run, gets angry and forces himself on her. She gets pregnant, decides to leave...is hurt in an accident, loses the baby. They have their HEA...
Does anyone remember this?

message 741: by Amy456 (new)

Amy456 | 1 comments I'm looking for I book I think is from the mid to late 90's. It features a heroine(I think it was Fran or Fern) who is raising her niece that was the result of an affair between her husband and sister who died in a car accident. She is engaged to her boss and lives in a cottage on his estate. His half brother is the hero and returns home after a number of years working overseas as a photographer. The boss is in a tizzy because the older brother coming home puts his inheritance of the estate in danger. She ends up sleeping with the brother and then working for him. She get pregnant from the one time they slept together and marry. She has a miscarriage and they end separating until she goes to a showing of work and sees a picture he took of her and then get their HEA.

A Harlequin reader PM'd me with this question, and I didn't have an answer. Can you see if you know of this series?

I read part of a series, probably 13, 14, or 15 years ago - set in Texas about a family. I know it started with the father, and subsequent books were about sons & daughters.

I've been looking for so long - I can't remember the author, nor any of the titles.

I do remember:

One of the sons starting a vineyard. And I believe the father was a rancher. Father's name may have been Cal.

I remember some jilted lover peeping in on the father and his second wife whilst they were in bed together...

The son with the vineyard was having marital troubles with his wife - I remember it being quite angsty...

Anyhow, I have looked high and low trying to remember this series. I know I probably read it in the late 1990s... publish date had to have been mid to late 90s.

Thanks!

message 744: by Maddux (new)

Maddux I believe I answered my own question. I asked for the above request that Lady Danielle so kindly posted for me.

I'm 89% certain that the series I was looking for is called Crystal Creek - which is a Harlequin series.

message 745: by Maddux (new)

Maddux In the mid-90s, I finished a book and read a few of the blurbs in the back of upcoming books to buy. One summary sounded interesting, but I never got to read it. This is what caught my attention:

(it's not word-for-word, but something to the effect of..)

... handyman/roofer/carpenter working on the roof next door to the heroine's house, he sings opera as he works on the roof ...

Does that scenario sound familiar to anyone?

I know it isn't much to go on.

THANKS!
-Maddux

message 747: by Monique (new)

Monique (kadiya) I'm wondering if anyone would recognize these book descriptions? I've read so many HPs but these are 2 that stand out that I simply cannot figure out the titles to. These are both older. I would have read them in the early 90s but I think they were already older then.

The first one: An old Harlequin Presents - During her summer vacation or spring break or some such thing she visits her aunt in Vienna. Her aunt has been involved in helping get people across the border and out from behind the Iron Curtain. She was doing this with the Romany. This time, she "can't" do it and recruits her niece to go in her stead. Her niece and one of the Romany (the aunt's contact) fall in love during the journey. When they get back to Vienna, the niece comes to believe that he is actually in love with her aunt. The scene I remember best is the one where they are headed to the opening night of some big festival in Vienna, or maybe the Opera, and he has gotten corsages for her and her aunt and while he pins the first one for her aunt, she does her own making him upset and confused. It's not a historical in that sense, this is definitely a Cold War story.

The second one: They were high school sweethearts but he had a dream of making it big in a band. Though she is pregnant when he leaves, she never tells him. He does indeed make it big and comes home at some point. She has twins - kids by this time, not babies - and there are the usual reuniony things and feelings hurt, etc. The thing I remember best about this one is his name - Race. It was just so darn unusual.

Thanks muchly if anyone remembers them from these admittedly pitiful descriptions!

Josette | 13 comments Hello,

I'm looking for the title a certain book. It's about Richard and Kathy (Cathy?)

He fell for her when she was very young and bought a painting of her from her father.

Almost at the end, she throws something at him, which he gave her a long time ago.

He then takes her to her former house, she thinks it's now a hotel, but in fact he bought it. She see's the painting.

Then, he explains. They confess their love, and the story ends.

I think it isn't recent, as it was one of the first romance books I read. I hope you can help me.
