Maiqst | 6 comments Hi,
I don't remember any names from the book.

The hero kind of rehabilitates sex workers because his sister used to be one to support him when he was younger.
The sister was suspected to be murdered by the heroine,s father.

He also suspects the heroine of being free with favours to secure her father's deals(which turns out to be false.

Also, he suspects her of drug abuse because a clinic is repeatedly mentioned. But it is a clinic in which her brother who is confined to a wheelchair resides along with other children like him....

I've been going out of my mind Searching for this book. Please help. Thanks.

willaful | 344 comments It's dark and weird. Didn't care for it.

message 659: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 244 comments Willa's right, Leona, it is "dark and weird," even for a Harlequin Revenge Plot, LOL! I much preferred The Greek Tycoon's Mistress - which I tracked down and it was worth it.

Bigmama74 | 4 comments I have been searching for the title for this book. The main male character had a tattoo on his face with a veil usually covering it. I think it was a claw tattoo. He was supposed to marry the heroine's sister (betrothed but waited a long time before showing up) but told the heroine's father that he was going to marry her instead. The villain was I believe his brother. The heroine and hero do not consummate the relationship until a few months into the marriage, and he plans on leaving her in England as soon as he knows she is pregnant, but she ends up going with him to America anyway. I don't know the author or the title and any help is appreciated!

message 668: by Bigmama74 (new)

Bigmama74 | 4 comments I read a harlequin book awhile ago but forgot the title of the novel. Please help me find the book.

The book started out with the heroine working for the hero's father. The hero got into an accident and is temporarily unable to walk. The heroine helped the hero through this rough time and the two became friends. Then, after he was able to walk again, he got smitten with some beautiful girl and forgot all about her. When his dad died, he left a will that said that the heroine and the hero have to marry before the hero can inherit his fortune. And so, the hero and heroine entered a marriage of convenience. The hero mad it clear that the moment the term of the will is fulfilled, their marriage would be annulled (divorce) and he will marry his beautiful girl. Also, while the hero and the heroine were friends before, he became rude and cynical towards the heroine the moment after the will was read, calling her all kinds of horrible things.

Near the end of the book after he slapped her for the second time for saying the other woman's name she tells him to go. And then, while he's on the plane he realizes he doesn't love the other woman, but his wife. But he's too late because she left and had an accident and lost her baby and she blames him... but he didn't know about the accident or where she was so he's living like a recluse and she thinks he doesn't care.

For some reason the names Simon and Catherine stick out...

It is book: Odds Against by Margaret Pargeter

Ever since his fiancee Petula Hogan had walked out on him to marry someone else, Carl Elliott had been a changed man, bitter and suspicious of all women - and Gail, who had loved him for years, was very worried about him. Nevertheless, had she done the right thing in agreeing to marry him? It was obvious that, although he found her attractive - wanted her, in fact - Carl didn't love her; not only that, hge would go running back to Petula if he ever got the chance! Could such a one-sided marriage possibly work?

Happy reading!

Jenny :)

message 686: by True (new)

True | 3 comments Hello everyone! :)

I actually have a few that I can not place and I have done all sorts of searches for them. I read these books probably 10-12 years ago. I am pretty sure the first two books were made in the 70s or 80s. The 3rd book I believe was in the 90s.:

1. I remember that the female character was young, but legal age. She had a step-mother who dragged her along to a hotel I believe? the step mother was trying to find a way to "land" a man. I believe it was a guy who was a count? The man had olive skin but grey/green eyes? Had a half brother too (who was interested in the step mother). The man was interested in the step-daughter. I do remember the end but I dont want to give away the ending if someone hasn't seen it lol.

2. I can't remember the reason why the woman was either in the Philippines or Thailand, but I remember a man showing her around the city. I believe he owned a factory? Something about him being a part of the royal family sticks out too. I just can't remember the rest. :(

3. This one I am not entirely sure this is a Harlequin book, but I am assuming so since it was all I read when I was about 12 lol. Anyways I remember it was about a military man(i think marine) who saves a pregnant woman. He helps her deliver her baby inside of a cabin? He later gets in contact with her. I remember a scene where the baby wouldnt stop crying and he held the baby a certain way to make it stop. I also remember he was part owner of a computer company he didn't really care about. M3 (i think) was the name of it.

any help would be great. thanks a lot :)

Christina Waterson (liveloveart) | 1 comments I'm looking for the name of a historical fiction book. I can't remember any of the characters names but I remember it's about a Jewish girl living in a Christian town. All her life she has been taught Jewish customs, and has been told that they were Christian customs. Science and ways of healing are frowned upon in this time and all books about those subjects have been burned. If you are found with these types of books you are beaten.

This is a really good book and I would like to reread it, but I can't remember the name to save my life. Please help. Thank you! :)

This is actually two different books. Odds Against
is the one where he gets on the plane to go to his first love and realizes that he's made a big mistake. He comes back and the h has gone away.

The other one is the one where he's in a wheel chair. Unfortunately I don't remember title/author. She worked for the daad who is newspaper publisher. The son is a foreign correspondent. almost killed in terrorist attack. She befriends him they are close when he becomes infatuated with ow. Dad dies, the will is as you say. They marry and he treats her like crap and expects to divorce her in a year.
If I remember title/author I'll repost.

The first one is Tempted by Desire by Carole Mortimer
Would they compete for the same man?

Suzanne and her stepmother, Celeste, had never been close. But after her husband died, Celeste persuaded her stepdaughter to help her snare a rich husband.

Suzanne, although disapproving of Celeste's intrigue, welcomed the holiday trip to London. Then to add to her joy, she met the man of her dreams - rich, handsome and seemingly also attracted to her.

She should have known it was too good to be true. For he was the same man that Celeste had her eye on!(less)

Perhaps try asking in the historical romance group? Or probably there's a general historical fiction group.

Question posted by Tutory:
Hello everyone.
This has been bugging me for quite sometime now but I can't seem to remember this HP at all.
the h puts up an ad in a newspaper or something in which she asks for a husband for a period of time. I remember she had a stepmother and a stepsister. the Hero is a rich man(italian?) who responds to her ad but she didn't know that he had money and she is surprised when he shows up at balls with a fancy car and a fancy tuxedo. and that's pretty much all I can remember.
Thanks in advance guys.

The One Boogenhagen mentioned was One Girl at a Time by Roberta Leigh by Roberta Leigh

Tansy had met Vin Makram before

The first time he'd become irate after hearing her bad-mouth the goods in his store in Thailand.

So it was embarrassing to unexpectedly discover, on their second meeting, that he was both a leading businessman and her new boss! However, Vin seemed prepared to forget that first unhappy encounter.

Only Tansy wasn't really sure what he wanted from her. Was she just a pleasant diversion, a challenge to be conquered, or was working with her simply a way for Vin to combine business with pleasure...?

I've never read it so I don't know if it is the one or not.

message 697: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I'm looking for the name of a book I read many many years ago. It was an HP...probably written in the 70's..so not sure if you will know this one. I can't remember the author or the names of the characters. But do remember the following:

1) The heroine has a stepsister who saved a little boy from drowning while on vacation.
2)That little boy is somehow connected to a man that is single, with no children, wealthy and dying.
3) He has come to England to find the woman who saved the little boy and to offer her marriage since he has no one to leave his wealth to when he dies.
4) The heroine portrays herself as the stepsister and marries the man. Sine he never actually saw the stepsister, she gets away with it.
She does this because even though the stepsister saved the little boy, she was still an evil mean person.
5) They come to love each other for their HEA.
6) The hero is Greek (of course) lives on an island in Greece (of course)

Has anyone read this?
