Melissa (melissabassani) | 10 comments I have another book I'm looking for...its an older HP book...girl and guy were married, she was consumed with wanting to have a child and couldn't, her husband left her because of it but then 5 years later wanted her again but pretended he was sterle so she wouldn't be over stressed with trying to have a baby again...

the cover is of the guy in a ny sweat shirt sitting on the couch and she's in her towel and has dark hair.

funny the stuff you do remember about a book and I can't remember the title!

Melissa, An Outrageous Proposal has parts of what you are looking for. They separated and he pretended to have affairs, wanted her for a mistress not a wife, to get rid of the pressure of getting pregnant. His idea was wacky and made no sense.

Natalija...it could be The Greek's Bought Wife by Helen Bianchin. Tina Matheson, the heroine, is pregnant with the hero's brother's child. The brother dies, so the hero marries her so that the child is not born out of wedlock. They fall in love....happy ending...

Nataljia, are you looking for a specific book with this theme, or recommendations? If you want recommendations, I would suggest starting a thread for recommendations for the theme. I will take the liberty and do it for you.

If you are simply looking for any book not necessarily a specific one then I will suggest the first ones that come to mind
Annie's Song : Non HP Historical.
Forbidden Fruit : Lamb, Charlotte HP Contemporary
Building Dreams by Ginna Gray: This is a Harlequin but not from the Presents Line. Contemporary.

message 623: by Tolu (new)

Tolu (teebalz) | 3 comments Hello people, please i want to get the title of a novel I read about 15 years ago, i think the novel was published 6 or more years before then. The heroine (i think she was named Jessica) had a twin sister that was married with two children, but she died in an accident with her husband and so the guardianship of her nephew and niece was passed jointly to her and the husband's brother. The heroine and the uncle got married to make it easy to raise the children, but along the line they had a misunderstanding and when the heroine found out she was pregnant for the uncle, she left the uncle and was only secretly visiting the children whenever the uncle was not around. After a while they settled their disagreement and lived HEA.

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Hello. I was wondering if anyone remembered the following HP that was published sometime around 1983-85....I can't remember the author or the characters names. However, the plot goes something like this. The heroine is engaged or seeing someone she works with. Her father is a gambler and not very reputable business man. Somehow he owes the Hero significant money. The hero is mixed descent..part French, part arab, very good looking. He sees the heroine and wants her...applying significant pressure claiming he can make things pretty difficult for her dad. They fly off to the desert...where she finds out that he is on the verge of being engaged to someone so she goes back to England. End of story mother finds her to tell her that her son really loves her and there was no engagement. Does anyone remember this story?

message 625: by 3meg (new)

3meg | 361 comments Tolu-could it be Ruthless Contract (Wedlocked!)?

message 626: by 3meg (new)

3meg | 361 comments Leona, yours is giving me fits...I feel like it sound familiar, but not all of the pieces seem to fit any one HP....the closest fit is The Arabian Love-Child, but not everything matches and it is newer than indicated...I will keep looking unless you tell me otherwise.

message 627: by Leona (last edited Apr 30, 2012 03:30AM) (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments 3meg..Thank you...no..because in the Arabian Love Child, they have a child...in this one, they did not have a child....maybe since I read it back somewhere around 1983/4...I don't clearly remember all the parts. But I do know that her father was in trouble for his cheating ways. The Hero had the ability to take him down or save him. The Hero was stalkish in wanting the heroine. The heroine was a virgin, which shocked the Hero....cause how could she be a virgin when she was engaged.....Hero flies her off somewhere to his palace. Must be Arab since it had female quarters where he sneaks in and they have one heck of a delicious night. There is an OW who very much wants him to marry her. They have been supposedly promised to each other from the crib...OW's mother tells her they are engaged (after they spent a fabulous night together)...She is devastated and leaves and goes back to England. Months later, she is unhappy....His mother finds her to tell her my son looks just as bad as you do. Tells her OW's mother lied. There never was an engagement...She goes to find the Hero....at his place, they have a Happy Ending! It was a really good book..

Tolu (teebalz) | 3 comments No 3meg, its not Ruthless Contract, there was a nephew and a nieces NOT 2 nieces. Thanks for the effort though.

message 634: by Aruana (new)

Aruana | 248 comments I'm looking for an old Silhouette Desire: the h was a olympic diver and she is injured. Her legs were affected and she walks with a limp.

She goes to work as a cook on a ranch. She has no experience of cooking for a bunch of guys, including the Hero. He's very hard on her. In the evenings she does rehab so that she can go back to diving.

Thanks!

message 638: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments I think this was an older HP, maybe from the nineties. The hero and heroine have a child together, but never married. They have an amiable relationship and he visits often. He actually loves her, but she never takes his proposals seriously, thinking he's a playboy who doesn't want to settle down. The catalyst for change for them is her getting interested in marrying someone else.

Nemo | 4 comments Hi, I am trying to find this book for sometime. The heroine is married to the hero's brother/cousin who is crippled. The husband dies and tells the hero to look after his wife. The hero (obv!) marries the heroine as he has been completely obsessed with her since forever. I remember the hero used to live in the same house as the married couple, the husband would boast of how hot their sex life was. When the hero realizes that, there is a scene where he says - all lies, everything he told me about you. Anyone read this? Thanks!!

Maybe
Somewhere To Lay My Head by Lilian Peake
Liam's words came slowly, "So they were all lies he told me about you, all lies. And I believed him, everything he said about you. Well," he added, "everything's over now, finished." Everything's over, finished. The words spun in Alyson's head like a roulette wheel. Her marriage to Liam had been a gamble, a gamble she had lost. Liam had been the winner and he had taken all-her innocence, her heart and all the love that heart contained. Suddenly ,she just didn't care any more!

Alyson had been married to Liam's brother, who was in a wheel chair. He had been engaged to her stepsister but she left him after the accident that crippled him. Alyson married him out of compassion, now the brother, Derry, has died, leaving Alyson penniless. She and Liam marry and Liam treats her with contempt. Derry had asked him to marry her, he had told Liam a lot of lies about their relationship and he had also lied to Alyson about Liam. Alyson thinks Liam is having an affair with his secretary , Vanda.
