Hmm, maybe not a long shot but a medium shot. Could it be The Shining of Love by Emma Darcy? Or Dark Remembrance by Daphe Clair (h has a son)?

The Unfaithful Wife by Lynne Graham
Bond of Hatred by Lynn Graham
where the hero really misjudges the heroine and the H really grovels at the end to get the heroine to forgive him?
Thanks

Vows of Revenge by Dani Collins - my fave author of the latest HPs. A number of hers meet this criteria.

message 5656: by Se (last edited Nov 29, 2021 11:53PM) (new)

Se Mcgregor | 550 comments Popular topic - vengeful heroes #14 would be my pick - he is truly awful! Also agree with Talijane, A Debt Paid in Passion by Dani Collins also has hero on his knees. The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders has a truly awful hero.

Hi. I haven't read a lot of her books because I read one of Dani Collin's books and wasn't that impressed but am willing to try another if it's full of angst with a groveling hero. Thanks

There is the "Best Vengeful Harlequin Heroes" list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...

I think all the books folks have recommended are on it and some more that you may be into.

This sounds familiar...is the H actually the father of the child or does he just think so? The first that comes to mind is Coercion to Love but no h pregnancy in that one, if I recall correctly, but she does think H cast the sister aside when she was pregnant.

Maybe Their Secret Baby? Except it wasn't a sister, it was a cousin's baby! Also some plot differences here and there so probably not likely...! ):

message 5678: by Poorvi (last edited Dec 10, 2021 12:09AM) (new)

Poorvi | 302 comments This one is really vague. The hero has been missing for a few years and everyone thinks he's dead. When he comes back a few years later, he finds the heroine has a kid. He's angry at the heroine and keeps his distance and doesn't think the kid is his. The heroine may or may not have been married to someone else during the time he was missing.
It's one of a series of two or three.

Is it recent? Michelle Smart has duo with similar premise earlier this year. Series was called Billion Dollar Mediterranean Brides. Book two has the returning hero / father of the child The Secret Behind the Greek's Return

message 5682: by Neri (new)

Neri | 74 comments It wasn't one I read admittedly but I had read the blurb and I really want to read it now....the plot had to do with computer dating. The h is in her room with her buddies, they're all scientists of some kind, talking about if computers can really predict who you're compatible with. h is used a a guinea pig for the dating program/machine, she's matched with the H, is dubious of the process, etc.

It's an HQP, I think, and definitely circa the 70s/80s. The setting was winter-y, like snow or maybe they were at some kind of Swiss chalet? I wanna say it's an Emma Darcy...and as I finish writing this I am realizing there was an episode of That Girl (remember that show with Marlo Thomas?) with a similar plot abut computer dating, lol. I really do think this book exists and I am not just going out of my mind. I'll keep searching but the plot was unique enough that I was hoping more organized minds would get it faster.

message 5686: by L (new)

L | 2 comments Hi, looking for a book where the heroines best friend/sister/sister in law left the Hero for another man (possible heroines brother/relative) and then died leaving heroine custody of their baby.

Turns out the Hero is the true father of the baby (there is a line in the book about the doctor saying the baby came early but the mother of baby said it actually came late) and the heroine leaves the baby with the Hero when she finds out but he convinces her to come back. I think the Hero's mother also mentions the baby has his eyes which is how they know.

message 5692: by Mayar (new)

Mayar I'm looking for a book where h and her brother pretend to be husband and wife to save his job. In her way to meet her brother she met a stranger. They had to share the same hotel room. They had sex. Later, she found that this stranger is her brother's boss. I'm sure they will fall in love with each other. I also remember the h was married before but now she is divorced. That's all what I remember.

Shilpa Shetty | 11 comments Hi, looking for a book wherein the main characters are divorced /separated. The characters met in college /uni and the heroine attracts the hero by pretending to be a avid runner. the hero is a track star and very popular in college but he had decided not to indulge in a relationship while having academic obligations. The heroine gets pregnant and they marry in haste. The heroine miscarries and the hero comes to know her deception.

I think the author is Catherine George but I am not sure. The book definitely was a Harlequin presents but I am uncertain .
