Not to be callous, of course. It sucks when folks lose their homes or, not-god forbid, die. But it's just what happens there, like drought happens in the desert or rain happens in the northwest.

Yes, the people out in the middle of nowhere seem to be in more danger of tornadoes than anything, at least in Wisconsin, although the news said some tornadoes might land in Milwaukee.
I like the rain, and the farms needed the rain, although they probably have too much now. I think David once said midwesterners are obsessed with the weather, and he'd be right. Farm country, you know?
I drove around for a while after the sirens started and took a couple pics. These are during the day, mind you, with all the streetlights on and everything.

I only heard on the national news yesterday that nearly half of my state has been declared a disaster area. But everything's completely normal up here... Although I suppose northern Indiana is a disaster area in many other respects.
We have (what seems like) several tornado warnings every year. The sirens are very close to my house, and they freak me out every time. I keep thinking that Russians are attacking. But then I remember that the Cold War is over, and then I feel sad. Things were so much easier during the Cold War... *sigh*

David, you crack my shit up.
RA... you town is so cute! It looks very similar to mine, actually. Small towns rock.
My dad is obsessed with weather, and has lived in California most of his life... however, he was born in North Dakota and, though he was brought here as a baby, I think the Midwest has never really been expunged from his soul. After my parents divorced he married a woman from Illinois who decorates her home with fake florals. I rest my case.
