janine | 7709 comments friendly strangers make me happy too. even though i don't have a baby to attract them they are still nice to me. i went on a bicycle ride to find an abandoned bench sunday and everyone i met greeted me and i had a conversation with an older man, i think he was 70. that, and the sun, made me happy, and my newly tanned shoulders, and the bicycle path with sheep on it, and the cute little house that was my view.

Hell yes to #10.

A published story? Do tell.

message 56: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments It was nice because I always prefer playing with somebody to playing solo, but I didn't really want to make the sound guys deal with a band when everyone else was going solo for the day - and then it turned out nicely after all.

Jim -- I'll give details as soon as I know when they're publishing it.

I'm going to the farmers market this morning for the first time this year. Yay!

My wife is fully convinced Ramsay is the anti-Christ but when she's not around, I let the kids watch the BBC version of "Kitchen Nightmares," where they don't bleep anything except the F-word. They love him.

Britt, who is your avatar? What is your gender?

Most of his rage is probably manufactured when the red light on the camera blinks on, but I think it's hilarious. No one can truly get that angry about over/undercooked food, can they?

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I figured out the second one. But from msg 83 I'm intrigued about your age. A's on tests, yet "dynamite album" and WTF w/ being called honey?

message 80: by Brittomart (last edited Jul 01, 2010 09:02AM) (new)

Brittomart Sally - Hugh Laurie is my avatar, and I am female. I turn 19 tomorrow, and I really can't explain the endearment thing, it just makes me happy.

Clark - The episode I saw where he fucking SPAZZED over a disgusting kitchen, that can't be fake. I think he's just a perfectionist, and a narcissist too. He's got another show coming out this summer. He definitely likes being on television.

And Bun, I agree with you completely.

message 88: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i have never seen this guy or this show. but i will say that in today's world nice, soft spoken people don't pull a paycheck very long on TV

message 89: by Brittomart (last edited Jul 01, 2010 10:32AM) (new)

Brittomart I wouldn't do better at all either. Tough Love is not for me.

And it's not for all of the people on his shows. For example, on Kitchen Nightmares, most people completely shut down when he's yelling at them, and then he redecorates their restaurant or something, and they're like, "Oh, hey, this guy really does care."

message 90: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments happy birthday tomorrow britt

message 91: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Chef was a great show!

Zu worked under a chef who had worked with Gordon Ramsay and said that his TV personality is actually toned DOWN.
But his American personality is also different from the one on the UK versions of his shows, where he's foul mouthed and cantankerous, but not so downright insulting.
