If you haven't yet, START THIS SERIES!
A couple that I didn't see listed:The Better Part of Darkness by Kelly Gay
Late Eclipses by Seanan McGuire
Thanks for the rec, Jack. I started October Daye when it was initially released, but stopped after book 1 for some reason. I've been meaning to get back to it. And, I've got the other TBR as well.
Steph wrote: "Agreed, Kel, an excellent series!"Hey Steph! How's the road treating you?
What are your top 3 series faves? You know what I would say here; still keeping my fingers crossed you'll surprise me...lol. ;)
Here are a bunch more that I enjoy....Charley Davidson by Darynda Jones
Guardians of the Realms by Setta Jay
Walker Papers by CE Murphy
Going Down in Flames by Chris Cannon
Cursed by Amy Braun

Hiya, Miss Katharine ;) The road has been good to us so far. We've been almost 7,000 miles over the past 4 months. From CA north to WA, east to MT, south to NM, then back up north to SD, then east to VA. Oh, and we crossed into Canada for a day while in MI. We've been to a TON of Nat'l and State Parks.
We're currently chillin' with family in VA before getting back on the road to LA for NOLA StoryCon at the end of Sept. From there ... we're not sure. :D
I know, I know. Hubby agrees that I should at least check out book 1 and "think of all the books you'd have to read if you liked it." LOL! :p We'll see.
My current top three-ish:
(very difficult to narrow down to only 3, so I cheated big)
PNR Faves:
1. Psy-Changelings by Nalini Singh
2. Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall
3. Guild Hunter by Nalini Singh (more of a UF+R)
UF Faves:
1. Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews --- Dorina Basarab by Karen Chance
2. Jane Yellowrock/Soulwood by Faith Hunter --- Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs
3. Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs --- The Others by Anne Bishop
Other on-going faves include: Charley Davidson by Darynda Jones, World of the Lupi by Eileen Wilks, Cassandra Palmer by Karen Chance
Completed faves are a-plenty!

You're on a road trip, Steph!? How exciting! :D I visited the States for the first time a week or so ago and had such a lovely time.
We are; on a big one in search of where to live following my hubby's retirement from the USMC this past April. Since then we've been RVing across the US. Glad you enjoyed your trip here. :)
Glad you are having fun...still really jealous. Thanks for the series ideas. If you didn't cheat, I would wonder how you could name only 3 and what kind of a biblioholic would that make you? :P

On the Hunt – “The Collector” (February 2011)

Has anyone else here read them?
Thanks for the rec! I'm guessing many of our members have read some/all of that one, Janet, because it's on one of our BEST OF lists. I haven't started it, but have bought the first couple of books in hopes that I will ... one day. :)

Added to my ever growing TBR .... :)
That's definitely something we're very good at doing here in SOS ... Expanding everyone's TBR lists! >:D
I've read a couple of them and have the rest to read. I put them on my I've started So I'll Finish challenge that Charlotte runs. But I didn't read any more this year, oh well there's hope for next year. LOL
Since I'm new to this group, I thought I'd kind of introduce myself by adding a few series that I haven't seen mentioned yet. Some of these are more traditional fantasy rather than urban fantasy or paranormal romance. I'm just going to list the first book in each series.Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara
Cast in Shadow
Crosspointe series by Diana Pharaoh Francis
The Cipher
Generation V series by M. L. Brennan
Generation V
Shadows of the Immortals by Marina Finlayson
Stolen Magic
Clockwork Heart trilogy by Dru Pagliasotti
Clockwork Heart
Elfhome series by Wen Spencer
Tinker
The Tazu Saga by J. Leigh
Way Walkers: Tangled Paths
Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima
The Demon King
The Cinder Spires by Jim Butcher
The Aeronaut's Windlass
If any of these books don't belong on this list, please let me know.
Steph wrote: "Thanks for the recs, FangFan! I really enjoyed Brennan's Gen V series and was sad to see it end."I was so disappointed to find out that her publisher didn't want to continue this series. I think the author did a great job of tying up most of the loose ends in the last book, while still leaving room for the series to continue. I think she's currently working on a new book and hoping that if it is well received, she'll have enough pull to be able to continue the Generation V series. I was kind of hoping that she might go the self publishing route, but I don't know what the legalities would be involved with that. It's just a pity that more people didn't discover this series. I thought it had a really neat, original take on the vampire mythos, and I loved the snarky humor, which reminded me a little of the Dresden Files.
Josie wrote: "FangFan, is the Crosspointe series by Diana Pharaoh Francis completed?"To my knowledge, this series is complete. However, I'm not sure that all of the books are available as ebooks.

Thanks! :)
Wow! With the challenge to read 17 x 17 books this year, this thread is a source of hope & inspiration ...In just one read-through, I picked up several new series to try for my

I'll be back ...

[bookcover:Some Girls Bite|444..."I LOVE Katie MacAllister's Guardian series. She's so freakin' funny. The thing with the incubi was hysterical.
Stacia Kane - Downside Ghost series is good if it hasn't been mentioned before! Im just reading The Road to Hell series by Brenda K. Davies which is great so far. I have read Kate Daniels, Mercy Thompson, Night Huntress and Guild Hunter but any other series which keeps the same main characters would be great to know - Thanks!!
Natalie, if you like series with the same main characters, check out our list of Urban Fantasy books. Plus there is a Listopia List link as well.Read the bit at the front of the thread, then the end of the thread has the latest list. We only put the first book of the series on the list.

Highly recommend the Southern Sanctuary by Jane Cousins Australian author who kind of reminds me of Shelly Laurenston. She totally brings the laughs and the sizzle to every book. All her Heroes are Alpha with a dash of sweet. All her heroines are smart and kickass.
Loads of witty dialogue and amusing set-ups. Action. Tension. Bad guys. Any author who can create sentient ugly bridesmaids dresses is awesome in my book.
The Sentinel Wars by Shannon K. Butcher. Although it has the common element of strong warriors, the women in the books are very diverse with real human weakness and issues.
@steph have you read that series as well? There are 2 new 📚 after a long hiatus by the author that I want to get into ...once I get done these partially finished 📚 of my list. Made a resolution this year to finish at least 50% of the ones in my currently reading list 🤪
No, I haven't. I have a bunch of her books, but haven't read a one ... yet. :) But, that series has been recommended often around SOS.
That’s ironic...😀. I’ve read the Sentinel series but I’ve not read anything else by her. The synopsis on the jacket has just never sounded appealing.
I've read the first couple of Shannon Butcher's Sentinel series, and enjoyed them.I've also got the first book of the Southern Sanctuary series TBR :)
Vampire DJ's. A vampire dog. A recovering con artist... need I say more to reel you in??? And for any vampire purists, this is really a vampire only series, which as much as I tend to prefer the diversity of mixed species series overall, it made for a really nice return to basics for me.And Ciara is not a typical UF Mary Sue either which was fantastic to see. And extra props for a Maryland setting as I've never read one before, and even more so for it not being totally whitewashed like the vast majority of mainstream UF. And whilst it is not a humourous series as such, there is plenty of humour to be had in the pages of these books including one really funny scene where two of the guys bet on a sports match and one ends up in his grundies all day long at the office!!!
I have to say that I was really surprised at this one and can't believe I've never come across a single other person in any of my groups talking about it yet.
The four origin stories between books 1 and 2 are freebies on the author's website.
