Just out of curiousity, has anyone read this Thaw Chronicles series? Amazon had a bunch of deals on some of the books over the last week so I picked it up, but I'm unclear how this book fits if at all? Trying to determine if it's a prequel in the Thaw Chronicles or possibly a spin-off?

A SUPERB trilogy different to most others because of how racially diverse the whole cast of characters are AND the main supe's being necromancers. Werewolves and witches make an appearance along the way but they are not the main part of the story and there is not a single vampire in sight. The first two books follow the same couple and the MMC is one of the worldwide head honcho's of the necromancers and he is the ruler of the European territory, while the FMC is a dancer for the gods, the top of her field. It's also set in Prague, the Czech Republic which is another unique feature. The last one in the trilogy follows the overall story arc but the MMC is the second in command of the Az in the first two and he heads off to the US on loan to another necromancer there and includes touches on Indigenous mythology.
These books straddle the line of being UF with very strong romance elements so could also be called PNR (which makes sense as PNR is just UF with the romance being the primary story element).
This one is the start of a new prequel trilogy, also set in Prague, based around the werewolves and witches mainly. I've not read this yet as I'll wait until it's complete.
Thanks for the awesome breakdown and rec, kittykat. I checked and I’d grabbed the first book as an Amazon freebie last year. I’m looking forward to checking it out.

I was surprised because the MMC is a tad more alpha that I normally appreciate (I can't stand the types who are all 'I'm the big I am') but he changed my mind because he has the skills to go with the attitude but is also not afraid to show his vulnerable side. Also, in the first book some of the dance scenes were so descriptive I could see them happening in my head and as someone who loves to see professional dance (and female career competency) played out in books, I loved that so much.
Some auto-buy series I discovered in the last 5 or so years & highly recommend:❣️ UF-R/ ‘Sam Quinn’ by Sean’s Kelly (The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar) and same-world ‘Sea Wicche Chronicles’ (Bewicched)
❣️UFR/ ‘The Other …’ world by Heather G. Harris (Other Realm/ Glimmer of the Other; Other Wolf/ Protection of The Pack; Other Witch/ Hex of the Witch; coming soon - Other Detective/ Veiled Justice)
❣️ UFR/ ‘Lizzie Grace’ by Keri Arthur (Blood Kissed)
❣️DARK FANTASY/ ’Empire of the Vampire’ by Jay Kristoff (Empire of the Vampire)
❣️ UFR/ ‘Jacky Leon’ by KN Banet (Oath Sworn)
❣️ FANTASY/ ‘Charade of Magic’ by Helen Harper (Hummingbird *trilogy complete*)
❣️ UFR/ ‘Alice Worth’ by Lisa Edmonds (Heart of Malice)
❣️ UFR/ ‘Sundance’ by CP Rider (Spiked *series ended*) and same-world ‘Austin Wolves’ (Dire Threat)
There are some others, but I was late to the party on many, most I’m sure are already on your radar.

I'm trying to compile this as a list and add some new series though most I've add to our top PNR, UF, Scifi, and Fantasy lists already. This has a many more genres and is interesting just to see what people thought were really good.
Hi. New here, but see that I'm in the right place :-). So many good books out there. I prefer a series, just a personal pref. I am a Charlaine Harris fan and read her Sookie Stackhouse series. I just finished today her Gunnie Rose series (book 6 won't come out until April 2026) and am looking for a other one to add to my list. I saw a cover pic for one of the books in the Fever series listed in a discussion. Looked it up and it has 11 books? Love it! Read the description and think that will be my next read series. I'm not really a challenge or read-a-thon sort of person or I'll never get anything else done :-( KRZ
