June 15- September 14, 2024
It’s Summertime! Let’s read books that are hot, hot, hot, or like a summer breeze to cool us off.
Read one book for each task below. Feel free to interpret the tasks loosely and hopefully you will find some great reads that you can kick back and relax with.
Things we might love or wish for in the Summertime-
1. Sunny days- read a book with a day of the week in the title or a book with the color yellow on the cover
2. Cool breezes- read a book with a sky on the cover or the color blue on the cover
3. Bathing suits- read a book with clothes on the cover or a book you would want to read while laying by the pool
4. The ocean, lake or pools- read a book with water on the cover or a book set near water
5. Boat rides- read a book with a boat on the cover or in the story or a book with a character that gives you ‘a sinking feeling’ about the couple
6. Frozen drinks- read a book published or set in a cold month or place or a book with a frosty character (i.e. cold, unfeeling)
7. Umbrellas to shade us- read a book with a shady character or a book with the color gray on the cover
8. Thunderstorms- read a book with a stormy character or couple or a book with a loud cover
9. Putting our hair up in a ponytail- read a book with hair on the cover or a book you want to stay up to read
10. Wearing a hat- read a book with a hat on the cover or a book with the letter h or a or t in the title
11. Sunglasses- read a book with glasses on the cover or a book with a person on the cover whose eyes you can’t see
12. Cruises- read a shorter book that you think you can cruise through
13. Picnics under a tree- read a book with green on the cover or a book with a sweet character
14. Fishing on a pier- read a book with a nosy character or a book with over 400 pages (a whopper)
15. Movie theaters for a few cool hours- read a book that has been made into a movie or you think should be, or a book with a cool character
16. Fireworks- read a book with a fiery character or a book set in July of any year
17. Sandals and flip flops- read a book set or published in a hot month or a book with a character who changes their mind
18. Baseball games- read a book with an athlete in the story or a book with something round on the cover
19. School break- read a book with a student or teacher in the story or a book you want to read when you need a break from real life
20. Travel- read a book with a word in the title that has to do with movement or travel (i.e. go, ride, move, run) or a book with a road or bridge on the cover
21. Weddings- read a book with a wedding in the story or a book with the color white on the cover
22. BBQ-ing- read a ‘hot’ story or a book with a hot person on the cover
23. Watching the Olympics- read a book with a competitive character or a book with several colors on the cover
24. Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt- read a paranormal romance or a book with a character that makes you want to scream (I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream)
25. Reading or sleeping in a hammock- read a book that also comes in audiobook format or a book with the letter Z in the title or author' name
26. Gardening- read a book with a nurturing character or a book with flowers on the cover
27. Horseback riding- read a book set on a farm or ranch or a book with a character who rides a horse or works on a farm or ranch
28. Road trips- read a book with a road trip or travel in the story or a book set in a place you would like to visit
29. Graduations- read a book that is the last in a series you have started or a book you just want to get off of your tbr
30. Camping- read a book with stars or night sky on the cover or read a humorous book (maybe it's campy fun)
