Crystal (crys25) | 237 comments I was wondering if anyone has tried her books. She writes fantasy with kick as I like to call it. She is not highly publicized, as a matter of fact I have to mail order her books because my local B&N doesn't stock them-but I definetly thinks she's worth it. I really like her main character Raine Benares-although her covers are a bit hit or miss. What do you think?

Rowena (rowenacherry) | 4 comments I've read all four of Lisa Shearin's Raine Benares series and I loved them. After Magic Lost Trouble Found, I put Lisa Shearin on my auto-buy list.

I love the covers. Brown is by no means my favorite color, but I think The Trouble With Demons is the best looking cover of the lot (although something strange is going on with the heroine's crotch.)

Raine is charming, IMHO, and the author's style of writing really works for the way she manages to communicate backstory so each book is a stand alone.

I say that... but I've read the books in the correct order and I have a good memory, so I might be wrong.

Anyone who enjoyed Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone ought (IMHO) to enjoy this series about a heroine who is saddled with a magical and dangerous stone that confers great powers, but can only be safely kept by a person who does not wish to use it.
