TheGirlBytheSeaofCortez (Madly77) | 3817 comments Exactly, Erin. I want to meet the other CR members. Whatever Yulia chooses for us is fine with me. Just fine. Sebastien and I were going to drive to Quebec City afterward.

Yulia | 1646 comments I'm very sorry to have panicked. I can host new york. I'll think of the conference as a short story, not an epic. There, I can breathe.

And NE, I apologize for misinterpreting your comments.

message 53: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments Glad to hear that.

TheGirlBytheSeaofCortez (Madly77) | 3817 comments Great news, Yulia! :) Just be yourself and you'll do a wonderful job! :)

Hooray!

Sherry | 8261 comments Oh, good, Yulia. And just remember, that many of us are old hands at this. Any time you feel like you are getting stressed, just ask one of us to help out. It's not even a short story--it's a very good paragraph.

message 57: by Monica (new)

Monica | 895 comments Is there a date for the NY meeting? And what's the date for Milwawkee?

message 58: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

Sherry | 8261 comments You mean Minneapolis? There is no upcoming Milwaukee convention. That was in 2001. There's a whole folder with information about the Minneapolis Convention. The dates are September 16th through 19th. It's always the third weekend in September.

message 59: by Monica (new)

Monica | 895 comments Oh, thanks Sherry. Glad to know you have friends in Yonkers. My cousins are in Riverdale.
:-)

message 60: by Erin (new)

Erin (erinskelly) | 780 comments Yulia, judging from the chatter here, I think you might get a really good turnout for your gathering in NYC :)

message 61: by Jane (new)

Jane | 2247 comments Yulia,

You don't have to go to all of the events with us. You only have to make suggestions, and we hope that you will make reservations at restaurants. When we went to San Francisco in 2006, Pres Lancaster, Pat Belden, and I shared the duties. Pres was not in the best of health so he met us for dinners only, and Ernie and Pat Belden met us one evening for dinner. It is nice to have a host who can find things that will interest us. You can do most of that just from listening to your friends and from reading the paper. Don't be afraid. Sherry has hosted two conventions and I have hosted two also, so we will be available to help.

Jane | 2247 comments FYI Here is where the conventions have been in the past.
1994 - San Francisco
1995 - New Orleans
1996 - Nashville
1997 - Denver
1998 - Washington, D.C.
1999 - Seattle
2000 - Boston
2001 - Milwaukee
2002 - Chattanooga
2003 - San Diego
2004 - Chicago
2005 - supposed to be in New Orleans (Katrina)
2006 - San Francisco
2007 - Asheville
2008 - Santa Fe
2009 - Portland
I missed the first one because I hadn't found CR yet, the 2001 convention because of 9/11, and the Chicago convention because we were moving from Denver to San Diego. They have all been wonderful.

TheGirlBytheSeaofCortez (Madly77) | 3817 comments I'd love to be a host sometime, but personally, I think 2012 should go to MAP and Pittsburgh. It would be terrific! I see from Jane's schedule CR hasn't been in Pennsylvania yet, and it's a beautiful state. September is a wonderful month to visit Pennsylvania.

message 64: by Monica (new)

Monica | 895 comments What's MAP, Gabrielle?
And I agree, Pittsburgh is fantastic.

message 65: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments Map lives in Pittsburgh and offered to host 2012 I think.

Monica, it's not what, it's who ... MAP is a CR member who lives in Pittsburgh.

And I would love to do Pittsburgh!

message 67: by Monica (new)

Monica | 895 comments Geese, I'm sorry. Hi, MAP!

message 68: by Monica (new)

Monica | 895 comments Where's the folder with the Minneapolis information?

I'd love to do Pittsburgh, too, Erin! :)

Jane, thanks so much for the reassurance. Making suggestions and reservations for where to stay, eat or visit shouldn't be a problem at all. I hope to join everyone for as much as I can when it's finally time.

message 72: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments I hope I will be able to attend. My daughter was talking about joining me there.

Mary Anne | 1986 comments Monica wrote: "Geese, I'm sorry. Hi, MAP!"

Hi, Monica! MAP represents my initials. I like to have fun with it.

message 74: by Carol (new)

Carol | 7657 comments CAT represents my initials but I switched a C for a K. Hence kittykat.
