Great topic Beth! I have a Kindle and I'm in love with it! Yes you are so right Beth there are alot of awesome authors out there that do ebooks only. Keta Diablo is one of them;)Like Beth I would never pass up the opportunity to read an actual turn the pages book but ebooks are kinda nice;) With my Kindle as prob with most eReaders you can buy a book at a click of a button...so simple! I love that mostly when I just gotta have a book and want it now,lol!*you know what I mean,Wink* Don't get me wrong there are books I just must have in print and that's it. Another great thing about my Kindle is how light it is! It's no more heavier then a book really and holds tons of books:) Perfect for a vacation or a long trip.
I just got a Sony eReader, and wouldn't you know, it's also pink Beth! I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet, but I like the idea that you can connect to local libraries across North America. The only thing that I'm slightly bummed about is that I can't get a GelaSkins skin for my eReader. It's the only major eReading device that isn't available.I posted something on my blog about whether or not it will replace paperbacks, which you can check out here.
I love my Kindle too. I got it last July and already have over 300 books on it. I like that I can get so many classic books that I have never read for free. I like that it is so convenient to take when traveling. I still buy a lot of paper books but the percentage of my new books that are ebooks is rising. If it is a book just for me, I will try to get it for my Kindle. If it is one that I think I'll be donating, I buy the paper.
I love my kindle! I got it right before a cruise last year to Alaska and it traveled very well. It was handy because I ended up with a lot of reading time and bought the whole Lara Adrian series while I was on the cruise straight from it. Like Kathy I have well over 300 books on it (come on update 2.5 for some organization changes that are needed) and probably a 100 more bought that I haven't sent to it. Plus, the free books alone have been well worth the price. The Kindle will never fully take the place of books in my heart but I am finding that I buy most of my books in ebook format now.I only purchase the special series that I want to collect(and/or books not offered in ebook form) in hardback/paperback. I think it honestly started when I was running out of storage space and needed a viable solution :) I waited a year before buying one and now my mom, stepmom, and sister all have one because I gush about it so often!
There are things I don't like about it: the organization is really minimal: author or title which to a series reader really isn't that helpful (as I mentioned above is supposed to be improved in an update due out this month), I miss having the pretty covers but since I blog about books I read I see them anyway, and the ability to pass them along to friends is a bit of a hinderence but to be honest I am kind of stingy with my books and keep most of them.
So yep, I love my Kindle :)

I have the new Kobo. But she has to be sent back for a little bit of a fix. My battery is a dud. There are a few bugs to work out, but I am enjoying my $150 reader!I don't think that at the moment ebooks will overrun print. I work in a college library, and while we are starting to promote ebooks more - I just feel that there hasn't been a device developed that leads itself to reading textbooks.
I got my Kindle last year and I don't know how I ever lived without it. I no longer mind waiting in lines. The only problem is there are so many books I can't share with friends without a device or some sort of online membership. I guess I have you guys now, so correction, I can share my thoughts.
It seems like everyone has the Kindle. But, I've had my Barnes and Noble Nook for about 3 weeks now, and I love it! I don't know anyone around me that has a nook yet, my best friend wants one and is so jealous. But I brought it to school yesterday and today because I was really getting into it, and people were just like what is that? Oh can I touch it! It was a little weird, that some people haven't heard of e-readers yet. Some know about the Kindle so I guess thats a step up?!
I have a Nook too! I love it. I wasn't sold on the Kindle when it first came out.But, I love my local B&N. I think that was why when I started looking at e-readers, I immediately went for the Nook. I like that I can go in-store, and get more benefits from the Nook being connected to a physical book store.

Ya I feel the same, like if I need to I can walk into the Barnes and Noble (which is like 20minutes away)and get someone to look at it if it needs to be fixed. I love my sony e-reader! I was't sure I would use it but I use it daily. My husband bought it for me- its the best present he ever gave me- LOVE IT! maybe we should share favorite bookstores or free book sites. have you ever checked out burgeormeister.com i think thats how you spell it.
I realize this might sound, like, so five minutes ago, ;) but I've not been able to afford the exorbitant price of the Kindle (or its similar brethern), but I do buy/receive for review/download and read pdf e-books on my home computer when I can get them. However, I really prefer a paper book when I can get it, less strain on the eyes and back than there is with an e-book, and it's way easier to tick off where you left off, in a paper book. That said, I'm coming around to e-books. I just probably won't be investing in the new hand-held versions until/unless they severly slash the prices of the devices, and make them cross compatible. Old fashioned, I know. Thanks for the link Julie. I'll check that out. :)
I have a Sony eReader, and I think it's fab (plus it's pink!). Though it'll never replace my paperbacks and hardcovers, it's a good addition to my library.
I didn't realize there were so many great authors out there who are being published digitally. So I got past my fear of eReaders and have discovered some great reads in the process!
Who here has an eReader? Be it a Kindle, Sony eReader, Kobo or Nook - share your thoughts and what you think about digital publishing. Will it replace the traditional paperbacks?
