Good point and I just finished that on 05/31, so I am counting it as one of my June reads!

I read this a year ago and really disliked it.

I finished A Veiled Deception this morning and immediately started the next book Larcency and Lace (site misspelled 'larceny') - just past the midway point in that one. Not too bad a series, but have not yet decided if I will pick up the third book next month.

Courtney (courtneydonea) | 2 comments Here are some books that I'm currently reading that fit the themes.

1. Dads - I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced by Nujood Ali
2. Weddings/Engagements - Anne of Windy Poplars (Anne of Green Gables, #4) by L.M. Montgomery
3. Movie - Demon Rumm by Sandra Brown

They all fit the themes, but none are cozies. I'll see what else I can find.

Courtney (cddimmitt) I finished Apple Turnover Murder the other day. Both Hannah and Michelle were students of the professor who was killed, as well as the twins. Does that count as a grad?

Trine - did you get put off at all about how "in love" the main character was with it wife, and how he kept repeating it over and over. I know I am a old meanie, but I am not into stuff like that.

Trine (trinespageongoodreads) | 200 comments That’s a good point, Heidi. :-)

At first, I thought it was pretty sweet the way they were so devoted to each other, but at the end the sentiments came across as somewhat less believable; almost ritualistic as if they were just repeating rehearsed lines to keep them both safe.

Whether that was intentional or not is difficult to say after just one book, but people do express feelings differently, and Bradley’s past may have been an influential factor in their present communicative strategies toward each other.

I’ll give the second book a try to see if this pattern is about to repeat itself or if the first book was just the author's way of characterizing their feelings and interpersonal behavior in general.

Heidi | 2446 comments Trine please keep me updated on book 2. I liked the first one enough to want to read book 2, but if it carries one with the "lovey dovey" stuff I may skip it.

Trine (trinespageongoodreads) | 200 comments I'll let you know, Heidi. :-)

Brad & Ash do have a very solid relationship which carries through all the books, more or less. The 2nd one is the best in the series, IMHO, and the 4th is the worst. I only gave it 2 stars. Their relationship does get in the way of things in that book and I didn't like it. I thought it asked me to stretch my "believablity factor" way too thin.

Thanks for the 'warning' about the books, Melodie. ;-)

I'll be starting the second book later this week. Glad to hear you enjoyed that one. :-) I'm looking forward to reading it myself.

Managed to just get a movie-themed book done for the challenge, Frankly My Dear, I'm Dead by Livia J. Washburn. It was an okay read, but don't know that I would go out of my way to find the next book in the series. Started it yesterday afternoon, read all night and finished it today. Yay me! *g*
