Jeffrey J | 39 comments I have not read Game of Thrones yet, I am wondering if I should wait for the HBO series so I can come at it fresh or just go ahead and read the books first. What do you think?

terpkristin | 4407 comments What do you typically do with movies? I personally would not wait for the HBO series to start the books, they're just really that good. But if your normal routine is to see a movie before reading the book, I suppose I'd go with the "norm."

Note, the A Song of Ice and Fire series is my favorite fantasy series. I cannot recommend it highly enough, but I feel it's necessary to warn you of two things:
1) be prepared to wait....and wait...and wait for more books
2) nobody's safe.

You've got enough time before the show comes out to read all the books, so I'd say Go For It!

A Game of Thrones

Steve Moseley (avington) | 10 comments From what I thought I heard him say in an interview. the series is going to be 1 book a year. So even if you read the first book now, you have until 2012 to read the 2nd book

Kev (sporadicreviews) | 667 comments After hearing S&L rave about the book(s) as well as several other podcasts, I decided to pick it up recently. I'm a little more than halfway through it. Still not sure how I feel about it.

You love it, of course.

Jeffrey J | 39 comments BTW, thanks Veronica, now I am behind on my podcasts. After Game of Thrones I started (and almost finished) Clash of Kings which is almost 71 hours on audible.

But really it is awesome, glad you kept talking about it.

Kevin, I feel the same way about Game of Thrones. I picked it up after hearing everyone rave about it here. It took me several months to read the book (and I read very quickly), because I kept on being so crushed by what happened that I couldn't stand to continue.
I got A Clash of Kings from the library the moment I finished, because I desperately needed to know what happened next. But I can't get past the first two chapters now, for the same reasons I hesitated previously!

Jay Turpin | 7 comments It really helped me to listen to the audio book for the Game of Thrones. That gave me the pronunciation used throughout the books and gave some of the key characters voices that transferred nicely as I read the other books
