Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging (general topics) 4 years ago after a breakup, it was a fantastic way to work through it without having to tell my friends the same whiny stories over and over (and yes I imagine I was that annoying). Then because I was going so many places, I created a travel blog, that I use to document my travels because people would want pictures. A year and half ago I joined the 100 book challenge and decided to start a book blog to track my progress. Last year, I didn't really get into the book blogging world because it was a little overwhelming to try and read 100 books, much less keep up with other people. This year, I was a little more comfortable with my reading habits and was able to join in! I still personal blog too, mostly about my WW journey and random things that I come across. My travel blog hasn't been updated since my trip to New Orleans last year which means I didn't post my Vegas pictures from this year. I am going to have to do that sooner or later though :)This is a great question!
Very interesting Felicia! Yeah life experiences can start soneone's interest in blogging:) Great story and I would love to hear about your Vegas trip. When it comes to book blogging read and blog at your own paste. It's your blog so read whatever and how much of whatever you would like. That's what I do. I don't try to keep up with everyone because it will drive you bonkers,lol! No competition just bloggers supporting each other is what this group is about:) If you have any questions or if you just want any of us to check out something on your blog just post it on here:)
I started blogging because in my country people that read the same genre of books I read, are very few and far between.So, when I first saw the vast book blogging community and how I share the same interests and opinions with a lot of people, I thought I should try it out and see where it goes.And thank God I did, because it's turned out to be a very fruitful and amazing experience.
Yes very true AtenRa! Acceptance is a good reason to blog as well. You will find people with your same interest who "understand",lol. So True and a Great point:) I'm very happy you did too!
My first blog, back in the LiveJournal days, I started because I just felt like I needed to WRITE. I didn't care if anyone followed or not, it was my place. It was therapeutic for me :).From there, it kind of blew up into an obsession. I started my handmade blog, Life, Love, YARN! about a year ago to help promote Indie/Handmade. I have a personal blog still but I moved it over to blogger, and now I have my book blog!
I started my book blog because I love having people to share my book obsession with :). It's nice to know I'm not the only bibliophile out there!
I started book blogging because I am a hugely obsessive reader. Lists, about five different online accounts with different book sellers and groups, the whole shibang. I was a huge B&N junkie for about a year. Like you could not get me away from the computer because I was on the chatrooms so much. I made a ton of great friends who have ironically enough also spread into the book bloggo-sphere and it just seemed a very fun and creative way to share what I love. ^.^
I had been thinking of blogging for a while, I just couldn't get my head around making a decision and doing it. In the end I just started up a personal blog and went with that. As I blog with that one I decided that it would be great if I also put my reviews up and thats when Whatcha Readin' came about.

My blog is now 3,5 months old, and I'm amazed at the fantastic community of book bloggers. They are so helpful, kind and fun to be around! So it was definitely a great decision, and I love it! And it also drives me to read more :-)
This is probably going to sound like a weird reason to start a blog but I did it because I like organizing things. I liked the idea of making things and picking whatever I wanted to go up wherever I wanted it. Other than that silly reason I love my books and wanted a place where I could talk about all the books I wanted to and not just hope someone brought up a book I like. Then as I got into it more I started to meet interesting people and I've read some really good books because of the suggestions from others.

It was for the same reason Stephanie did: I wanted to have a place where I could put a list of all the books I've read and have my reviews at the same place. And then when I signed up for my blog I discovered reading challenges and I was awed! And then I started meeting people and had even more fun :-D
I started blogging because while I have friends who read a lot, they don't really read the same kinds of books as me (mostly UF and PNR). I found that I was devouring all these books, but since I didn't have anyone to discuss them with, I was just reading to finish. I wanted someone to discuss these books with me and to introduce me to books I may have been missing. Now that I blog/write reviews, I feel like I read more carefully and enjoy the experience more. It also slows me down a lot, which my Kindle credit card appreaciates!
I do not really blog, but I love to read what is going on. Plus I am out doing extracurricular activities, reading, or volunteering to really blog a lot.
I started blogging a little while before my first book released, so I could start having an online presence for when I got all successful and famous. *snort* My two novels have since gone out of print (already, sadly), but I continue to write about writing (I write fiction and role playing game content) and about reading and about the publishing industry. I'm a professional book reviewer (I write for Publishers Weekly) and a reviewer for FlamesRising.com and School Library Journal and other unpaid venues, so I rarely post my own reviews, but I do have contests from time to time and guest blogs from writers I admire.
I started blogging as an experiment for work. My library was looking into ways to reach out to a larger audience, and thought web 2.0 was the answer. That included a teen library book blog, a Facebook Page, a Myspace Page (that we later ditched), and a Twitter page. I started my own blog as a testing ground--that way if I screwed something up it wouldn't be for the library blog, but later on I just started to love it and decided to do more with my personal blog than be the testing ground for the library. It was fun to find a place where I could say what I wanted about the books I read, and so I started blogging regularly in about January of 2010. I'm addicted to books and blogging and it has been so much fun.
Well for me I started blogging when I joined Blood Bank last year. Then I started reviewing for BBB and blogging was a daily thing for me:) Although I no longer review for BBB I loved everything I learned for Rachel and her amazing review team and site:) About three months ago I started my own blog called Paper Cut Reviews where I review books, movies, t.v. shows and comic books. I try to review a range of things for a wide audience. Which has gotten alot of support from authors and my blogging friends:) So I really wanted to start a book blogging group to help other bloggers and authors out:) Reading books is just an added bonus for us!
