Click fraud appears to be one of the latest ways that pirate sites are funding their operation.

The supreme irony is that publishers are the victim of click fraud. They are (until they get wise) funding the very pirate sites that rip off their books.

Yesterday, I was floating around another pirate site, and I saw a prominent suggestion from the site management that every reader should support the site by clicking the banner adverts at the top and bottom of the page every day.

Magic money, right? Cool.

So, I took a look at the banners. I clicked through to Progressive Insurance (like their ads, do not like their name) to let them know that they are funding copyright infringement.

Most of the advertisers with banners and boxes are publishers! They are paying anything from .20 to $2.75 per click.

Don't click on publishers' adverts on pirate sites.
If you are an author, maybe reconsider paying per click for adwords such as "ebook" and "download" and "free".
