Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments I have read in the past but need to revisit ...

The Odyssey and Moby Dick.

Now I have seen the movies for Jurassic Park and the Harry Potter series does that count? LOL didn't think so...

1. Bible

2. Left Behind - I read the whole series a few years back, the link here is not too clear for me. I guess you could stretch the plot line to say that this is a doomsday scenario, a few survive and have to put up with an oppresive system (the oppresors, beign the others and Ben?)

3. Lord of the Flies - everyone should read it, its a great book on itself, the link is obvious, plain full of kids crash in an island, two groups form one evil one "organized" chaos - survival, for some and at the end deliverance. One thing I didn't like about the book's ending was the lack of accountability.

4. To Kill a Mocking Bird - a good look at the conflict between races in the south pre-equality era, maybe that the dark figure is the one that comes to the aid of the children at the end. sometimes things are not what they seem and the person/thing that looks like a threat might be your only way out - Ben might be have a valid point?

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments 5. The Stand - I really liked this book, the end of civilization is always a great premise for a book and this was nicely executed. The Good Vs Evil doesn't creep up on you at first but is nicely introduced and it makes sense. I think the connection with the book is sort of clear cut, the only thing left to really discover is who really is the Ultra good and the Evil in the show.

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments 6. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - this book was great, I can't put my finger on what the connection with Lost is though because **SPOILER** by the end of the book it turns out it was all a dream and the producers already said that was not the case with the show ... ?

Lorena,
I know that they named one of the episodes after the White Rabbit, so in this case, the whole connection could just be the fact that they did that.....

Luann (azbookgal) | 97 comments They have a nice list of connections at Lostpedia, although some of them seem a bit tenuous to me. When you have a list of numbers related to a show, you can find all sorts of connections. :) Some of them are quite substantial, though - especially the ones relating to white rabbits:

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments I agree some of the points on that list make a lot of sense while others just seem over-reaching. I just can't wait for the new episodes!

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments 7. Through the looking glass, and what Alice found there, by Lewis Carroll - this book while funny in many places was not as captivating for me as Alice in Wonderland, my reading partner (my 11 year old daughter) told me that it didn't feel as well thought out as the first one. The connection? Well, perhaps that once you get what you have been yearning for it's not what you needed after all.

Great connection, as our Losties who left the island are starting to realise!

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments Lori, can you believe that after all that waiting I haven't been able to watch the new episode? We DVRd it as usual but then I had to host the Book Club meeting and Bella's birthday party this week and just haven't had a chance to watch it. I am staying away from all the other links here! ;o)

For shame! You should watch it ASAP!

I loved this story as a child, thanks again Lori for making that link available. I find this very relevant because of the space travel, different worlds kind of thing, leaving because you are looking for something only to realize you had it all to begin with ... really cute.

BTW ... I didn't have this book on my LOST spreadsheet, when did they add it? Also, what book was Sawyer reading last night?
