A pirate has set himself up as a librarian, and asks for donations to keep his mission alive.

N.B. These are personal backups of books already purchased; their authors and thieving publishers have received their due. I declare that, by default, I have full lending rights to all of the books listed in this library's catalogue. Should an author wish to contest this declaration and request the removal of his work from my lists, this process has now been facilitated.

Personal backups are for personal back up, not for public lending, nor for lending for profit.

What does he mean about "by default"? Does he mean that he has the right to violate authors' copyright because they haven't caught him?

"Lending rights" don't go with the sale of an ebook.

I know it. This guy is about as vindictive and clueless as they come. Anything that makes copies of the books...and he is...is not legal.

Barbara Elsborg It's so horrible, it's almost unbelievable. These authors have received their due?? In the e-book world where I live - I ONLY get money if a copy of my book is legally downloaded. My publishers aren't thieves. What planet does he live on?

Unfortunately, in the same la-la land that a lot of pirates do, where all publishers are big conglomerates who cheat readers to feed the stockholders and board. We all know how much crap that is, but hey...that's their fantasy land.

Ilovetoread | 51 comments I saw that lending library awhile ago and thought it's just amazing how stupid some people can be and how stupid they must think others are. Their first lie is to themselves.
