P. (shimizusan) | 66 comments Hi there. I'm new to the blogging world, and am really glad to have found this group. I'm a book blogger (crazy about books), and I'd love it if people would like to link to me or have links back to them. Here's my blog: http://shimizu-star.spaces.live.com/d...

I'm also open to any advice about how to improve my blog. I've already started picking up some really great advice. But what I'd like to find out is what blogging platform is the best out there.

I'm thinking of changing my blog address because people are finding it very hard to leave comments. On live.com you have to log in with your hotmail account, and not everyone has one unfortunately. I feel this is a great hindrance, and would like some advice on better platforms.

tesni (akhmatova) Loads of people (including me) use Blogger. Though it's probably the most user-friendly blogging website out there, you need a Google/Aol account (I borrowed my parents' because they never use it, lol).
My first blog was on Live.com, but I switched over to Blogger for my book blog. Most of the book blogs I read seemed to be on Blogger, so...

Anna (brimfulbookshelves) | 8 comments I agree, Blogger is definitely the most common platform. I really like using it, because everything is easily customizable and straightforward--I managed to set up my blog originally without any trouble. And I just set up my own Google account, that's not a big deal at all, and it could come in handy someday!

P. (shimizusan) | 66 comments Yes, I've noticed that blogger is quite popular among book bloggers. There's also the 'follow' thing that I like about it. But the most important thing for me is to open up comments to everybody. Right now, people visit my blog but are put off by posting comments because they have to log in with a hotmail account.

I've opened up comments to Anonymous people too, and that seems to work well. If someone who I know in real life wants to comment but doesn't have an account they can use, they can sign in as Anonymous and then put their name at the bottom of the comment. There are also options for signing in with Livejournal, Wordpress, AIM, OpenID, or simply Name/URL. The commenting system has worked really well for me.

Sensitivemuse | 49 comments blogger seems to be the most popular choice out there. I use wordpress (the free one) the only thing I don't like about wordpress is you can't use the nice cute widgets out there. other than that, I'm happy with it.

P. (shimizusan) | 66 comments well... I've signed up with Wordpress and so far I like it!

It's just getting all my posts over to the new blog that's gonna take some time.Yes, the widgets are a big loss, I'm wondering if the goodreads widget is compatible with it :/

Oh, and here's a link to my new blog: http://mywordlyobsessions.wordpress.com/

Most BB I know are quite light and airy. I'm wondering if that is a turn off to readers.
