I didn’t really understand why Rachel, Melinda’s ex best friend did not ask her what was wrong when she caught her calling the police at the party over the summer. Melinda flashes back to the catastrophic night that cost her everything: friends, respect, and reputation. I also do not understand why Melinda does not try to tell anyone what has happened to her. We now know that the boy she called IT is named Andy Evans. Andy Evans is the reason Melinda called the cops at the party. Not only did he ruin her dignity by taking advantage of her that night, he ruined her reputation.
What I did to try to improve my comprehension was going outside and reading so I could get away from my loud family. I was able to indulge while reading the book this week because it was really peaceful. I think being outside is the perfect place to read because there are no distractions. Even the chirping birds d not distract me, I actually find it calming. When I read the rest of the book I will probably read outside as well because it is the best location.

I wonder what lives these juvenile offenders have today. It’s sad to believe that there are young teens that commit crimes that scar their lives forever. Parents take a huge role in how their child makes choices in life. If a young teen does not have the guide ness and the motivation to be someone in life then who will look out for them. If the boys in True Notebooks ever do get the chance to get out of state prison I am really hoping that they are trying to make a difference by helping the community to stop CHAOS that gang members are spreading.
Time went by quickly because I was getting so involved with the book as I was getting towards the end. I was getting so emotional because I was getting use to reading about some characters in the story and out of no where the disappeared with no explanation. I have so many questions that were unanswered such as what happened to Nathaniel? Did Francisco ever get out of prison? How is Kevin? I really wish there was a part two to this book. I was very ELATED about this book I really recommended it.

I am really glad you got into this book! Books are the best when your emotions actually start reacting to what is happening. In regards to teens committing crimes I agree that parents take a huge role in how their children behave. If their child is neglected they are more likely to act up.

If that guy really ruined her reputation maybe she just didn’t say anything in order to avoid more drama with other people. Melinda seems to be the kind of person that doesn’t care what people think. Melinda might have not said anything to finally end her drama with the rest of the people that were spreading rumors.

I didn’t really understand… why they sent Calli to go get help. After finding Calli with Petra everyone is confused about what had happened. Petra was unconscious and Calli couldn’t say a word to explain herself. So Ben suggest that someone go get help and they choose Calli to go. I don’t understand why because Calli doesn’t talk so they wont know what she needs and what is going on or that she needs help. It was not an INGENIOUS idea to send her because of all the CHAOS everyone is just going to be asking questions not knowing that Petra needs help.
I lost track of my reading because…all my sister were coming in the room and they wouldn’t get out. Even though they were silent they still bugged me being in the room walking around and doing what they need to do. There presence totally distracted me and had hard time staying focused. So I had to wait until everyone left the house when they go to their daily walk in order for me to finish my reading.

I think that Melinda didn't tell Rachel. She had something so tramatic happen to her that she doesn't know or understand how to deal with the situation. I think she also thinks that even though it is her best friend that Rachel will still not believe her. That is why many people who get raped or abuse keep it in for so long and in some situations for ever.
