Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Last night I stayed up and finished The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and it is getting the coveted 5 stars. To quote my friend Marilyn, "The Hunger Games is a cross between The Running Man and Survivor with The Truman Show thrown in for good measure." That exactly sums up this YA book about a dystopian society where the masses are kept in line by having to supply a pair of children from each district once a year to compete in a competition where only one can survive, and all the others must die. The way they are chosen, the competition, and what comes after will make you anxious for the second book in the series.

Ok Ok OK!!! I really gotta get on the ball with this one. I own all three but have yet to crack the cover. My nephew had them for a bit never read it but I finally got it back now so there are no more excuses!!!!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Dark Tort by Diane Mott Davidson.

This is the 13th installment in her Goldy Bear series, and as all the others it is a good, cute cozy mystery. Even though I have gotten so that I can guess the endings, I still like seeing what it up with the characters. 3.5 stars.

WOW! I just finished the 2nd book in The Hunger Games series, Catching Fire and I loved it! It is going to be a sad day when I finish out the series with Mockingjay!

Bucket Final thoughts on Pride and Prejudice:

Okay, I get it - I get why it's a classic. I love the moments where Austen pokes fun at attitudes, customs, and characters' flaws. Despite this though, I didn't really enjoy the book. Austen still takes plenty of what goes on seriously, including Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's relationship, Mr. Darcy's bizarre set of personality traits, and Jane's over-the-top trust in the good of humanity to the point that she disbelieves what is right in front of her face. I couldn't take these things seriously, so I got really bored really fast.

I remember (barely) reading that in H.S. for a report and I just remember hating it but then again I was one of those rebel teenagers LOL
