Dinner date with????

Right now I think I would just settle for a date...forget dinner! ha ha!Just kidding. I do think that Jane Austen for tea would be good, but I liking Anthony Trollope the more I read his stuff. There are just too many authors I would adore meeting over food & drinks. Some more drinks than food though. I wonder if they drank enough if they would "continue" telling you a storyline from your favorite book? Its a thought to wonder upon.

Richard Russo - without a doubt. I would ask him how he creates such wonderful, deep stories.

And we would head to one of my favorite restaurants in Naples, Naples Tomato, for truffle ravioli and red wine.

Another author I'd love to sit down to dinner with, at an old Inn/Tavern (Revolutionary or Civil War era) in a quiet corner, would be Shelby Foote. I love listening to him in Ken Burns' The Civil War documentary. (Though rumored to not be the nicest individual, his writing about The Civil War is renowned & I was saddened when he passed away a few years ago).

Teri, I love Trollope! My favorites of his are the Palliser novels, starting with Can You Forgive Her?. You can read the first one without having to read the rest, but the rest of them are great and it's worth reading the whole series.

The Way We Live Now is considered his masterpiece, and it's certainly very good. However, if your library is anything like mine (fairly Trollope-free) and you don't feel like buying one of his books, take what you can find for free. I enjoyed them all.

On a more serious note, I would love to chat with Sena Jeter Naslund over a bottle of red wine! Some of her passages that she wrote in Ahab's Wife Or, The Star-gazer A Novel gave me chills, they were so beautifully written.

Or Stephen King. Of course I could just drive an hour up north to where he lives, follow him to dinner one night, sit next to him, and pretend we had dinner together.

I thought of another dinner date - Hugh Laurie. Can you imagine having dinner with Dr. House? That could be painful, huh? But I just think he is so handsome, plus Hugh Laurie has acted in some pretty funny stuff, so he could be a hoot as a dinner companion. He published a book years ago, something with the word gun in the title I think. We would eat a yummy steak dinner, with a delicious chocolate treat to follow.

What a great topic...I'm not sure who I'd choose...I couldn't choose just one. I would also like to have dinner with C.S. Lewis, Agatha Christie, J.K. Rowling....I wouldn't mind also having a dinner with Stephanie Meyer. See I couldn't choose just one. LOL
