I finished Adversary by Julian May and Coyote by Allen Steele which I enjoyed so much that I just started Coyote Rising also by Steele. Upcoming is Grass by Sheri S. Tepper and after that it is almost time for a fantasy novel.
I really enjoyed Grass. I found it by reading the third book, Sideshow which is the third in the loose trilogy begun by Grass and continues in Raising the Stones. Excellent stuff!
I finished the Tales of the City books - liked the early ones better than the later ones (I really didn't like the way that one main character in particular developed - not that it wasn't believable or anything, I just didn't like her as a person anymore) but it was definitely worth reading.
Now I'm going to dig up my copy of Bridge of Birds: A Novel of an Ancient China That Never Was and re-read it to refresh my memory for the group discussion.

I feel she had some good books after that, like [book:Beauty, but the message started to get a wee bit too heavy handed for my tastes.
Odd thing,my post did not show up so I posted again, to find that my original post was there very odd. I was unaware that Grass was a loose trilogy, the feedback is an example of one of the many excellent things this site provides.
I just finished Fugitive Prince, book 4 in the excellent Wars of Light and Shadow series by Janny Wurts. Loved it! (The series is up for our next series discussion, by the way.)
Next up: METAtropolis: The Dawn of Uncivilization, a collection of 5 linked dystopian SF stories edited by John Scalzi. Looks interesting.

I'm into book 5 Grand Conspiracy in the Wars of Light and Shadow, after reading the first four! I'm in hog heaven, having a Wurts fest. Next up is David's Second Coming.
I am racing through the Coyote series, I have almost finished Coyote Rising, I will start Grass and look for the third book. I don't know how many times I have started a series as I have picked up a book somewhere and then you don't have the follow up. As most big box chains have progressively (each year it seems) poor sci-fi sections one must have a back-up book as waiting for the specially ordered books is de rigueur.
