ARE YOU A ONE BOOK AT A TIME READER?
At the top of this page, go to find books. From there click on the tab for giveaways. They are listed in order of closing dates, but you can also look by genre. I just go in and enter for the next day or 2. Since Oct. 24, I've averaged one every other day. Really, it's ridiculous, but I think I maybe should buy some lottery tickets. I've never won anything before. LOL
Yes, definitely only one at a time. I'm far too linear to read more than one. I'm afraid that my brain might short-circuit if I tried.

i used to be a one-book-at-a-time reader but because of ebooks, which you can just conveniently download, i can read another story during breaks at work and another at home... tried the audio version as well but i always end up falling asleep so i'm sticking to the hard and softcopies :P ... tho nothing beats the smell of the pages of a book :)

I think goodreads has an app- I also have project guttenberg app- so I can read any classic -and out of print book for free

I love my iPhone!! Books download almost instantly. I'll get a Kindle (or something similar) once I've read some of the many books I have in the house. Yeah, like that will ever happen. lol
I used to only read one fiction at a time, occasionally with a non-fiction alongside. At most I read 2 fiction at a time while in school. Then I got a Kindle and it's hard for me to stick to just 1 book at a time unless I finish it that day. There are so many right there that I'm interested in, I always want to read at least 3 at a time, and I've found that I can easily keep up with it.

Kindle has an iTouch app and an iPad app and an Android app... And, of course, they all sync. LOVE my Kindle!!
drats, does that mean i have to buy a kindle? kwismas is just around the corner anyway, hmmm.... :D

Right now, I am reading many books at once. But I am in grad school so I think that can be expected.

The one I use was only $1.99. There's also one for audiobooks.
I have 50+ fav authors because i read so many types of books,genres,non-genre,classic,contemporary works. But i cant read more than one novel or one collection at the time. My reading focus makes it slower,less effective reading time when i have to try to read two books at the same time. I read many books so my one book at the time works for me.
I can read one novel,one collection at the same time but not two things of the same type at once.
Usually one signed novel in paper--if I can't go to a signing then I buy an eBook instead--signing an eBook really messes up your screen B^), another novel on eBook, a non-fiction on eBook, and a technical book (e or paper).I don't yet Kindle, I have a SONY Pocket Reader that will hold me until the next generation of multi-tasking readers (like perhaps the eDGe or Alex) are available, and I've been unable to get Amazon to answer my technical questions.
Normally I have at least two books going at the same time (as far as that is possible), with one being the primary focus. Often times I can have up to about 5 on the go. For example, right now I am most actively reading Bryson's Made in America— just about finished — but I am also dipping into Herrigal's Zen in the Art of Archery, Sexual Personnae by Camille Paglia, and a small collection of Shakespeare's flower/gardening related writing called, oddly enough, Shakespeare's Flowers.
i can do it if one is of a reference or humor nature and the other fiction==two of same genre I usually get mixed up.

One book at a time, for sure. I get too invested in the characters to read more than one at a time. I don't feel like a can do a book justice if I split myself up between books.

I read 2 books at a time. Usually because I'm reviewing one, and reading the other for fun.
I recently tried to read just one book and couldn't do it. I was housesitting, so in my attempt to pack light I brought just one book with me, but the whole time I was reading I was thinking about all the other books at my place that I could be reading instead. I didn't get very far with the book, but now that I have other books at my disposal I am making progress with the one I had. Go figure!

Also, I find the older I get (and thus the more I have read) my attention span seems to be shrinking and I need to read more than one book (different genres) at a time. I truly treasure the few that are so engrossing to me that I read only that one from cover to cover.

I occasionally read up to four books at a time. At the minute its only two though - 13 To Life and re-reading Wuthering Heights.

I am normally a one book at a time reader, but I have weight limits when I'm carrying books on mass transit. So I happen to be reading two at once right now. One is my at home read and the other is my commute read.
I never used to be, but now if I read more than one book, I don't get through reading any of them. Writing lately for me is the same way: I used to write a few stories or novels at the same time, no problem. I can't do that anymore. As I've gotten older I seem to have lost my literary focus!
I always have at least three books going (though if you check my Goodreads shelves you will find my currently reading count is ten right now) I am always reading an audio book on the commute and a home library book and a Kindle book (or few!) I try not to listen to the same type of audio book that I am reading in print format, such as two police procedurals, but that isn't a hard and fast rule, other than being too similar, the books can be the same genre too. I love having choices of what to pick up and easily drop back into the story.

I remember when my kids were little, I would squeeze as many pages as I could whenever I had a spare moment. Now that they are 14 and 17, they make fun of my compulsive reading habits. LOL
I tend to be monogamous in my writing habits -- working on one book at a time but polygamous in my reading. I often will have a non ficiton reserach book and several fiction books on the go. Much depends on my mood and where I am at with my own writing.
Since it generally takes me just one evening to read a book, I am a 'one book at a time' reader. I sit down to read about 6 PM and am usually finished by 11-12...sometimes a little less, once in a while a bit longer.
Unfortunately, most of the time, no. If a book GRABS me, however, sometimes I pretty much can't put it down until it's done. Because I review books, sometimes I'll be in the midst of a book that I enjoy, but need to put it aside to meet my own self-imposed deadline for a review book (so that I have time to thoroughly read and formulate the review for that particular book)
Nope I cannot do it, wish I could. But I'm reading like five books right now at once. I'm just antsy I guess. I can bored really easy and just need a change of pace. I read a lot and I may read a book or two a week but that is in the midst of reading the other ongoing 4 or 5 I'm dragging with. It's a relentless circle LOL.
Glad I'm not alone with the multiple book thing. I have several on the go, anywhere between 4 and 8 usually. I'm so fickle, and I get excited when I get a new book, I have to start it immediately, then I have half a dozen or so stashed around the house! A kindle for xmas should help with all the books around the house, but the ease of downloading new ones is likely in increase the number on the go!

I have the app on my iPhone and I must have 50 to 60 books downloaded on there. It's just too easy but you'll love it. Happy reading.
I always have an audiobook for my commute & to listen to as I fall asleep, and a real book. Sometimes with either I will switch to another book if the book is not fitting my mood. Of course, some I set down and never pick up again.
