I try to read classics, new thrillers, and historical bios- so I can "mind-travel" around different worlds and times!

You are amazed how people can read more than one book at a time? I am amazed how people can only read one book at a time. It's not that I get bored of one book, it's just that I have so many books to read in so little time so I tend to read more than one at a time. I usually have a book in my bag, by my bed, and one downstairs when I'm waiting for something.

If you add to that that I'm writing the next book of my Dead Detective Mysteries and editing another book, it really is a lot to keep track of. Thanks, you guys, for pointing out to me how crazy I really am!

I can relate Gemma- I am reading an 800 page History of Philosophy- so - very nice to have fun books to turn to!

I definitely have more than one book going--right now I'm reading Pulphead downstairs and Binocular Vision upstairs, plus I have a comic Chelsea Handler book of essays on my Kindle that rides around in my pocketbook. Not to mention the New Yorkers in the family room and the newspaper in the dining room...so much to read, so little time!
That's exactly why I keep two different books up and downstairs. Some people think I'm so weird that I do that.

Right now I reading:
Mists Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison
A Very Short Introduction to the Celts by Barry Cunliffe
Tecosca Cormaic (Counsels of Cormac)
A Treasury of Irish Myth, Legend and Folklore by W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory
Selected Poems of Robert Burns

Spooks Apprentice
The Murder of King Tut
The Dragons Spell
the Grim Adventures and Fairy Tales
Siren

I may have a biography going on the side, but I tend to dip in and out of those rather than read straight through. The only bio I couldn't put down was Alistair Cooke's (the journalist, not the cricketer), but he is a hero of mine.

especially if it is a long one....
otherwise i feel i am studing and has an exam .....

When i read the Poetic version of: "The Conference of the Birds" i could only read it as it consumed me i consumed the book. Then I had to reread almost immediately,,, as it re-consumed me, I could read no other. Some of the lines, just made me stop and experience the imagery of the intent/content/spirit of the book.
Gregory wrote: "Depending on the difficulty and the understanding of what I am seeking I may read 3 to 5 books at a time. But If I have one that is particularly difficult or new to my thinking I may only read one..."
now- I really want to read that- never heard of it before!

what u think...?

has alot of symbolism....
it speaks about GOD'love...
very good book if u like sufism...

Besides being one of the most celebrated examples of Persian poetry, this book relies on a clever word play between the words Simorgh – a mysterious bird in Iranian mythology which is a symbol often found in sufi literature, and similar to the phoenix bird – and "si morgh" – meaning "thirty birds" in Persian
hope it helps....
