Squee! Release date for The Wiseman's Fear
OK, apparently we are the only two people who are excited about this. I would have thought there would have been scads of comments by now.
This is great news. I've waited this long, I don't mind waiting a little longer. Plus, it gives me plenty of time to re-read book 1 ahead of the release.
I have been waiting so long just like everyone else for this book to come out! Now there's finally a firm date! Awesome! I actually appreciate the time he is taking in writing this book so its the best book possible. He has a real gem on his hands with this story!
I'm psych'd! I'm happy we have a date to put on the calendar... er.. next years calendar. Although many people would sacrifice black she-goats if it could get published sooner, i would hope people who read his book and his blog have sense enough not to post anything derogatory if they are < impressed by the publish date. btw.. Awesome work Pat Tyvm for your hard work.. and your editor's as well.
So, I want to put a countdown to the release on my blog but I can't find a countdown gadget. Anybody know of any?
I just finished reading Name of The Wind for the third time. Dang that is a good book! I can't wait for Wise Man's Fear!
Looking for the release date for Ireland / UK and I'm dismayed! Apparently publishers over this side of the atlantic need to grow the feckin trees first before they can publish it. There are a few contradictory dates: 15/09/2011, 20/10/2011, and worst of all... 01/03/2012 for the paperback! Ugh, not fair at all, 1st March is my birthday too, but it doesn't look like Europe is getting WMF on the same date as the USA. It looks like at least 6 months later. Oh publishers, why do you do these things?! Grrrr!
i just thought i'd tell everyone ever since i read the article I thought it said MAY 1st. and am REALLY happy today. because in my mind the release date just got moved up two months.
I love it-
34 days and counting!
Also, lets have fun- if you add to the countdown include what you are most looking forward to in Book 2.
For instance, I'm wondering who gave Kvothe the name, "Dulator". ;)

35 days? Is that all? I'm so excited now. I have to re-read NotW. I can't remember all the intricacies.
I have to re-read the first one to get my excitement levels up. I really did love it, though.Yay, March 1st!
yah... but then you have to pay extra... so i'd rather just drive to the store. especially since then i can go in the morning. this isn't a midnight release right? it should be...
So, according to Amazon the book is 1008 pages long. Anybody know if Patrick has said anything about the accuracy of that number?
I vaguely remember Patrick saying that number, though that was the length of the ARC version. Which, I think, will probably be the same as the hardcover.
My birthday is that week. I'm going to take the day off work when my copy is delivered and read it straight through :) I'm so ridiculously jealous of folks who got advanced copies to review.
meh. i want to get that feeling when you know all rothfussians are doing the exactly the same thing that day.
Mary wrote: "I wonder if I order it for my Nook if I can get it at midnight..."Not too long ago saying that would have seemed absolutely filthy.
I almost fell out of my chair when I read your post! I think it says a lot about how excited I am for Book 2 that the innuendo completely escaped me until you pointed it out. ;)
Sigh... not going because I live in Cyprus (an nanoscopic speck of an island in the Mediterannean :)). I'd move heaven and earth to go to a signing but high school thinks otherwise :KOn the bright side of things... 29 DAYS and counting for WMF release! WOOHOO! Here's hoping my preordered copy will arrive within a week after March 1 :)
Hopefully not. Anyway I wanted to mention that in his blog Patrick said WMF had 994 pages (hardback) but Amazon lists it at 1008 pages. I guess both are for the same edition and Patrick didn't include the pages not of the story in the equation?26 DAYS! :P
I just reread book 1 in anticipation. Took my time this time (2 days instead of one sitting). I had forgotten a lot and am glad I reread it.

I was trying to find even a character list to reacquaint myself with all of the characters but its been a wash. Once I finish WMF I am thinking of creating a List of Characters on wikipedia.
unfortunately I've currently lent out both my copies of NotW to people so they can read it before the release.
