Haven Angel i think so because it wold be aazing to see all that would happen to marry and her friends. although i cant wait to read the sequal: THE DEAD TOSSED WAVES

Mockingjay I don't know, most of the time when books are made into movie they kinda ruin the book since they don't include all the details, but it would be an amazing movie if they did it right. I loved this trilogy! The Dark and Hollow Places was thrilling!

Megan It'd be a great movie if they did it right. As long as the zombie aspect is executed correctly and the YA love triangle doesn't cheese it up. Should have someone attached who's already made successful zombie flix and knows what they're doing (i.e. Walking Dead team, Romero proteges, 28 Days team). Just plz don't get Twilight or Potter filmmakers involved!

Dawn Hale It would be an awesome movie, I just really hope that the movie doesn't ruin the book. It would also be so great if the movie doesn't turn out like Twilight

Mockingjay Yes! I would be pissed if it turned out like twilight. Also they have to make sure they get the zombie aspect right and not make it like a horror film it has to be more thriller and suspenseful i think- no super gore.

Dawn Hale no, it can not be a horror film! and hopefully not super gory.

Alison This has actually be optioned for film. Can't remember which company bought the rights. But they are making it into a film.

I agree, there has to be a certain amount of gore, Mary does describe the gore very graphically and my heart was pounding for some of the scenes so it does need to be scary in a way to keep the essence of the book alive.

Megan It'd be an EPIC fail without gore. Doesn't have to be intense loud-squeaky-music-jump-out-at-any-moment American slasher, that freaks people out more than just plain good ole zombie gore.

I can totally picture the atmosphere echoing the bleakness of "Book of Eli" or "The Road". Walking Dead style zombies (the fast ones "28 Days Later" style) The end scene would be the most important of course (no detail for spoiler reasons); could make or break it.

Mockingjay Trinity wrote: "But is's a ZOMBIE book. Zombie books have to be gory because they are about ZOMBIES. Go gore!"

Yeah but the book doesn't describe gore, it is not how the book is written! They can't make it extremely gory.

I can see it like the movie style of "I am legend " (even though there aren't no zombies) but that kind of atmosphere.

Emily D I'm afraid if they turned this into a movie it would be too similar to M. Night Shamalan's The Village.

Mockingjay Yeah, I would prefer if they just left the book alone and not made a movie out of it unless it was spot on to the book.

Dawn Hale It has to have some gore it in, but not all out gory. And yeah a movie is good if its spot on, otherwise they should just leave it alone

I heard that it's the same people who did Twilight and are thinking of having Kristen Stuart as Mary. >:P

Alison I heard that too but I very much doubt that she would want to start up a whole new franchise again after only just finishing Twilight films. And people wouldn't be able to relate to her as Mary either as they would just see her as Bella so I doubt that they would cast her anyway.

I would keep this one under the 'rumour' banner for now.

Megan Emily wrote: "I'm afraid if they turned this into a movie it would be too similar to M. Night Shamalan's The Village."
I didn't think about that movie, yeah that would be one of the best comparisons to how it could be like.

If that bella chick is in it, I'll have nothing to do with it. Just don't like her, not even as an actress. But they were talkin of putting that werewolf kid with no shirts in Red Riding Hood, and they didn't. So that leaves me hope that they'll find someone new for FoHaT. Off the top of my head, Jena Malone comes to mind.

On a different note, I liked that each installment adds a new story to the same landscape; featuring different characters in different settings, the forest-the seaside-and the city. This would translate great into a film series! I still need to get a hold of the Hare Moon story collection.

Lydia I'm all for books into films, but to be honest i thought this was such a great read, i don't think a film would do it justice.
But i would be forced to watch it anyways!

message 18: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn Hale if the Twilight people do this movie, they will wreck another series

Emily G. I think this should only be done into a movie if it is done well. (No duh, right?) Take Eragon, for instance, I liked the book, but the movie was terrible and had a totally different plot than that of the book. They need someone who loves the book enough to only make the most minor of changes to make the transition from print to screen.

Good casting is also a must. Take the Hunger Games as an example for this. I'm mostly happy with the casting, except for the role of Katniss. The girl that is set to play Katniss is just too, dare I say it? Sexy. She's too supermodel-ish, and she doesn't have the everyday beauty that I thought Katniss would posses.

So basically only if it was done by someone who loved the story and characters, and didn't just to it for the money.

Amanda I actually think it is being made into a movie:) thats what i heard anyway!!!!

Mia 🌸 I really don't think so cuz when I read it I found it weird and kinda boring. I didn't even finish it.

Amanda at first it was boring but then it picked up as it got 2 the middle :)

The Dead Tossed Waves was TEDIOUS. Sorry- it just took forever to tell the story- i really wanted to know what happened...but i just felt about 100-200 pages could have been edited out.

Amanda I just bought The Dead-Tossed Waves, I hope I like it!!!

message 26: by Ally (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ally The rights have been bought to make a movie out of it. I dunno when it comes out tho. I hope its good and not terribly stupid!! because I loved the book!!

Courtney Torres Hey guys it totally IS going to be a movie! It's in pre-production as we speak!http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1661439/

So excited to see what they're going to do with it...I more excited to see the characters come to life. Can't wait until they post the casting information!

Amanda Can't wait 2 see it!!!!

Alexander Gonzalez cool and the book was great and very sad

Meagan henckel yeah there would be lots of zombie action

Tasha if it does, I will be cringing under my covers.

Meagan henckel zombies are not scary

message 33: by Yumi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Yumi i would DIE if they made this into a movie. this has been one of my favorite series of all time and if they made it into a movie i would just be ecstatic :D

Marissa I loved the DARK AND HOLLOW PLACES! But to make into a movie, it would look scary on the movie screen, what we need to see is the hope and the thoughts of the characters, Mary. That was the gold of the book...

message 35: by Kate (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kate Bowyer I would have liked to seen it done as a tv show. They really could have gotten into the characters so much more with a series than a 2 hour movie. There are some great cable tv shows out now that look a lot like movies.

I would have to agree with you. The Dead Tossed Waves was tedious. When I had completed The Forest of Hands and Teeth, I was excited to finish the trilogy, however I found myself disappointed with Dead Tossed Waves. Carrie Ryan took a long time to get anywhere in the book, and I have similar feelings about The Dark and Hallow Places.

About The Forest of Hands and Teeth becoming a movie: Like most of you, I feel that it depends on the casting and how well they stick to the book. Another thing, many people have seen The Village and love it. I use that movie to describe the book to many people. Hopefully its not very similar to The Village though. The movie is currently still in pre-production, so all we can do is wait and see.

About the gore: There is no need to have much gore in the movie. Even if the Unconsecrated are zombies, they weren't all that bloody. They would be broken, missing parts of them, and could be a bit bloody due to trials in the forest and the people attacking them, but they were never really described with blood. It would clash with the book. Besides, if there is a lot of gore, they will not make it PG-13. Most of the people who read this book is teen/pre-teen. It would be unsuitable for the general viewers.

NO!

Monica Yes should be a movie BUT they would need to find a AWESOME Dark director for it.

Bdalton Yes! But keep it dark and mysterious! No cheese, please!

message 40: by C.C. (new) - rated it 2 stars

C.C. Im sorry but no, for me the characters and the story are not developed enough to be made into a movie... I mean a girl willing to risk everyone's life just so she could see the sea.. dont get me wrong i love zombie movies

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) I think it'd be done soooo amazingly well if George Romero did it. =]

message 42: by Marissa (last edited Sep 13, 2011 06:43AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Last book was EPIC!

Melissa Did you guys read Hare Moon An Original Forest of Hands and Teeth Story by Carrie Ryan ? It's a short that gives great insight to Sister Tabitha when she was younger....

message 47: by Kyle (new) - rated it 1 star

Kyle Well, I guess it doesn't matter anymore whether or not we WANT it, since the movie is coming out next year. *Sighs* To me, the book was an awful piece of zombie literature, and I probably wouldn't bother to go see the movie, unless they make Mary strong, and COMPLETELY take out the love square, and add more action.

Marissa Why not, i totally loved this trilogy! I hope the movie doesn't dissapoint us though. and the movie is on the making right now anyway.

message 49: by Tony (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tony Unfortunately, ill betcha a movie would be boring due to lack of action at parts. Still would be cool.

Marissa I'll watch it anyway, I really loved this book. It's deep :)
