I agree, there has to be a certain amount of gore, Mary does describe the gore very graphically and my heart was pounding for some of the scenes so it does need to be scary in a way to keep the essence of the book alive.

I can totally picture the atmosphere echoing the bleakness of "Book of Eli" or "The Road". Walking Dead style zombies (the fast ones "28 Days Later" style) The end scene would be the most important of course (no detail for spoiler reasons); could make or break it.

Yeah but the book doesn't describe gore, it is not how the book is written! They can't make it extremely gory.

I can see it like the movie style of "I am legend " (even though there aren't no zombies) but that kind of atmosphere.

I heard that it's the same people who did Twilight and are thinking of having Kristen Stuart as Mary. >:P

I would keep this one under the 'rumour' banner for now.

I didn't think about that movie, yeah that would be one of the best comparisons to how it could be like.
If that bella chick is in it, I'll have nothing to do with it. Just don't like her, not even as an actress. But they were talkin of putting that werewolf kid with no shirts in Red Riding Hood, and they didn't. So that leaves me hope that they'll find someone new for FoHaT. Off the top of my head, Jena Malone comes to mind.
On a different note, I liked that each installment adds a new story to the same landscape; featuring different characters in different settings, the forest-the seaside-and the city. This would translate great into a film series! I still need to get a hold of the Hare Moon story collection.

But i would be forced to watch it anyways!

Good casting is also a must. Take the Hunger Games as an example for this. I'm mostly happy with the casting, except for the role of Katniss. The girl that is set to play Katniss is just too, dare I say it? Sexy. She's too supermodel-ish, and she doesn't have the everyday beauty that I thought Katniss would posses.
So basically only if it was done by someone who loved the story and characters, and didn't just to it for the money.

The Dead Tossed Waves was TEDIOUS. Sorry- it just took forever to tell the story- i really wanted to know what happened...but i just felt about 100-200 pages could have been edited out.

So excited to see what they're going to do with it...I more excited to see the characters come to life. Can't wait until they post the casting information!

I would have to agree with you. The Dead Tossed Waves was tedious. When I had completed The Forest of Hands and Teeth, I was excited to finish the trilogy, however I found myself disappointed with Dead Tossed Waves. Carrie Ryan took a long time to get anywhere in the book, and I have similar feelings about The Dark and Hallow Places.
About The Forest of Hands and Teeth becoming a movie: Like most of you, I feel that it depends on the casting and how well they stick to the book. Another thing, many people have seen The Village and love it. I use that movie to describe the book to many people. Hopefully its not very similar to The Village though. The movie is currently still in pre-production, so all we can do is wait and see.
About the gore: There is no need to have much gore in the movie. Even if the Unconsecrated are zombies, they weren't all that bloody. They would be broken, missing parts of them, and could be a bit bloody due to trials in the forest and the people attacking them, but they were never really described with blood. It would clash with the book. Besides, if there is a lot of gore, they will not make it PG-13. Most of the people who read this book is teen/pre-teen. It would be unsuitable for the general viewers.

NO!

Last book was EPIC!

Haven't read this yet but thanks for mentioning it.
