Nairabell | 433 comments Does anyone have the companion guide for the BDB? Is it any good? I've read Dark Lover and should be getting the rest soon, but I'm not sure whether to get the guide. Advice please?

Gigi | 1149 comments I'm new to the BDB series as well. I've only read Dark Lover. I'm about to start Lover Eternal. When I was reading Dark Lover I found a wikipedia page that gave me a break down on the characters and books. Since each book starts out with a list of definitions used in the book, I wouldn't buy the guide. I've found the wikipedia page to be very helpful. Although, it isn't spoiler free. BDB-Wikipedia

I hope this helps!

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I own a copy of the BDB guide and I love it.

However, if you have only read Dark Lover, I suggest try reading the rest of the books up to Lover Enshrined. If you feel after that experience that you really, really enjoyed the BDB series and consider yourself a fan, then go ahead and get your own official copy.

For a BDB fan, I think it is indispensable. : )

The guide is actually more than just a break-down of books, characters, definitions, etc.

First, it has a full-length novella of Z and Bella called Father Mine. That little tearjerker is enough reason to get the guide, in my opinion.

You get extensive biographies of the brother, Essays from the Warden describing her writing process, Interviews with the Brothers, Chat Transcripts from the Warden official Board, deleted scenes, etc.

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 223 comments I really think it helps to decipher some of the undercurrents in the books and also to familiarize you with each character a little better. I found it to be a useful tool and I probably will have it nearby while I read "Lover Mine."

Nairabell | 433 comments Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll wait to get it till I've read a few more books. Otherwise I just know I'll end up flicking through and see something that spoils a later book! :)

Tania | 644 comments I would wait - there are parts of the interviews that would spoil some of the books for you.
