Love it!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments That is great!! It would be so embarrassing to have your mom reading sex scenes you wrote. . .

My mom told me to write a book. I told her sex sells and that would be too awkward for me to write. She responded with, "Don't worry, your aunts and I can write those for you." I was almost sick then and there. My mother and I don't have a very open relationship so it was disturbing to say the least.

message 365: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments That is funny Heather, sort of a reverse of the situation.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Wow, poor Heather. Me and my mom have a pretty open and close relationship, but I would be sick too.

I was afraid someone would spit coffee if they were drinking while reading that...

Sorry, I'm too much of a prude to write about sex, so thank my mother and over 50 aunts for stepping up and giving you something steamy to read...

It just seems so wrong.

I thought they were mediocre. The friends were good, but I felt like the author was trying too hard for the joke for some reason so most of the jokes felt forced for me. There were a few moments when it hit, but I can totally see where people have a blast with these. I'm going to try book 2 and see if it's better now that I've settled in to the authors style. Sometimes that helps.

It's enjoyable, but there's a lot going on in the beginning. Once you get an idea for the world it flows a little better, but until then I was lost a little bit. It's still not done yet so... about 100 pages left.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments It was a little too much at first.

Did the series get better? I had a hard time with the first one.

message 392: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments It got a little better for me, but I still feel like the author is trying too hard. Everything has to be funny, all sorts of crazy things happen to her every page. If that is what you expect going in, then they are good.

message 393: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
During the first one I wanted to smack the author and tell her to settle down. I see the potential, but she was turning me off at every turn by trying to keep her foot floored on the peddle at every moment.

The atmosphere at the Mars Street gladiator school was contented, convivial and masculine as the tired fighters trooped in through the gates. Twenty fighters had sallied out to join the main battle of the Cerealia games, and fourteen had come back alive.
