I think Barry Goldwater's message of freedom is as important today as it was in 1960 when he wrote this book. His book focuses a significant amount on the Soviet menace. Socialism is much subtler now but still trying to destroy the individual and the free market in the name of equal outcomes for all. We need a champion of these principles today. I thought Ron Paul did his best to do so in the 2008 Presidential campaign but his message could not resonate. I don't think it is because it wasn't sound or well presented, but rather there was no room for dialogue and true debate.
