message 201: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Unless my brain is still kind of mushy because of my meds, i'm pretty sure of this.

message 202: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Hmm...I dunno, Tammy. Ward hasn't really given much info about Lassiter, so maybe that's it? But, yeah, he was the guy who showed up with Tohr.

message 203: by Ceej (new)

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments Rossy I think I remember Xhex saying Muhrder died when he tried to rescue her at the sympath colony. But then she was always vague in her references to him so it may have been an assumption on my part.

Tammy yeah Lassiter is the guy who shows up with Tohr. the thing that's missing is why the Brothers and even Rhev were instantly antagonistic to him. He's not mentioned in Covet which is the first of the Fallen Angels series. Which kinda pissed me off because I figured he would be the link to the Brothers. She uses "guest" appearances by some of the Brothers and Marie-Terese, the head hooker at ZeroSum, is the heroine.

message 204: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments You're right, she was very vague about it but the word died was never mentioned. More like "I don't want to harm him like i did to M." or "He disappeared/vanished because of me"....some weird thing like that.LOL!

message 205: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ok, finished up Lover Avenged a week or so ago...I have to say, that aside from Zsadist, Rehv is my favorite, even though he isn't a brother...there is just something so damaged about him! Can't wait to read JM's book in December (I have it listed as a challenge book)...then I have to wait until April for the next one :(, but I still have Crave to read

message 206: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments That's why i liked him so much DD. Now you get why i was upset with the heroine? I knew she had reasons to reject him the way she did, but he is such a wounded man. How could she?!LOL

message 207: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i was mad at her too, but he wanted her to reject him so that his plan could be carried out...and I think that was the hardest thing for her to come to grips with when she realized he was still alive...the scene where they found him...gave me nightmares...I don't like creepy crawlies!@

message 208: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Yes, but even if he had not told her the truth and she had found out on her own the results would have been the same. Suddenly the things she had done and the kind of person he had demonstrated to be, had no weight against his past sins. See, i love my man!^.^

message 209: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments possibly...but we can't really give her the benefit of the doubt, since you don't see both view-points...ya know? I would like to think that her working at the hospital and getting to know him might have changed some of her preconcieved notions of sympaths, but we won't know...they are raised to believe they are bad, its taught to them from childhood...

message 210: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments I know, still MY MAN!LOL

message 211: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments lol...ur too funny!! I'm looking forward to reading LM in December, but then I have to wait until April for the next one and that's just not fair!!! ;)

message 212: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments Hi everyone - I FINALLY picked up a copy of Lover Mine and am about half-way through.

Help me out - I'm not liking it much - is it just me? Or has it finally happened, and this isn't the same series as Dark Lover anymore?

message 213: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments Can't help you there Tammy, though i hear the same response from some of the series fans. I'll be reading it in the next few days though, so i will let you know what i think then.

message 214: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments Sorry, Rossy, I didn't realize you hadn't read it yet -- I'm still plugging along, it's getting better but still nowhere near where books 1-4 were. :(

message 215: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i haven't read it yet either - some people say it was better than books 5 and 6...others hated it...

message 216: by Ceej (new)

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments I haven't read Lover Mine yet but will in the next few days. But I feel like the books at Butch kinda lost something. Totally pissed me off with V's book and then there's Phury. She redeemed herself some what with Rhev. Makes me wonder if after Butch she no longer cared for the others but was locked into fleshing out their characters

message 217: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments I'm looking forward to you all reading this one so we can chat -- honsetly, there is so much sh** going on in this book I need help figuring out WTF. :)

message 218: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments LOL! No worries Tammy. I can't wait to hear what you think of the whole thing.

My friend Mel mentioned that one of the things that bothered her was the amount of cuss words among other "cool" terms?LOL

message 219: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Tammy, I liked LM, but I basically had to think of it almost as a book from a different series. LOL. I didn't like V's or Phury's books, so for me Lover Avenged and LM were a "comeback" for the series, but nowhere near the quality of the first three, IMO.

message 220: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments Hi Harper! Oh, you put it so well! I feel exactly as you do. Are you going to keep reading after this one?

message 221: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Hey, Tammy. :) Yeah, I probably will read the next one at least and maybe the one after. Once she starts branching into totally new characters, though, I think I might be done.

message 222: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments **spoilers**
I just finished V's book and I really liked it until the ending. Come on. A ghost?? Really??

I don't mind following the subplots/peripheral characters, although there were more than usual this time. What really annoys me is when we are in the Lessers' POV so I'm glad this book didn't have that.

I really like Ward's writing style, however I felt some of the expressions were out of place coming out of Jane's mouth.

message 223: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 56 comments I don't really understand why everyone was so disappointed in Vs book. I mean, yeah, Jane turns out to be a ghost, but she and V get their HEA and she continues on like a real person. The only difference is: she can retain most of her human qualities while being immortal. Look past that people and just enjoy the sexy hunt (namely Vishious :)

message 224: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i didn't love it, and didn't hate it...it was one of those things...but then I didn't dislike phury's as much as others seemed to - i think Ward took a difficult topic and handled it how people probably would have handled it

message 225: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 2192 comments I may understand why Ward did it, but i still don't like it. There are just certain elements in paranormal that i just don't care for, ghosts and zombies are at the top. No matter how sexy they may be described.LOL

I'm with you, Rossy! Except I don't mind zombies and ghosts as a rule. I'm actually a huge zombie movie fan and I'm writing a zombie Christmas story right now. LOL. Except the zombies are just the bad guys in mine, not the romantic couple.

message 227: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments Me too, Rossy. I was so disappointed in that book. And that's putting it mildly. I don't mind ghosts and zombies either, but like Harper says zombies make better bad guys than romantic leads (ick).

I think what made me so mad was that she had built V's story up so much in the book previous, then didn't carry through - and it felt like she f***ed him over big time with the end of his book. He deserved a proper HEA, imo, and that wasn't it (again, imo).

Harper, a zombie Christmas story? Are you posting it anywhere we can read it?

That's exactly how I feel about it, Tammy.

About the zombie Christmas story, I'll be posting it (probably a few days before Christmas), most likely here and on Literotica, though I'm tossing around the idea of making a PDF of it, too, so people can put it on their ereaders if they want. But it's going to be M/M and there will most likely be sex toward the end (one scene, not sure how graphic yet). I can't remember if you're a fan or not.

I didn't care much for V's book because of all the Brothers, he's the one that she told the least about in the other books. I was really expecting more about him. Then I read his book and I finished thinking dang that's all? The whole part about the ghost and him being the Scribe Virgin's son was a bit much. I was so ticked off about Jane dying. I mean the Scribe Virgin cured Mary's cancer which was fate but she couldn't do anything to prevent her son's mate from dying? Didn't seem logical to me. Also, the whole Jane and V relationship was a bit stunted. I understand bringing Jane back because no way could she have left V without a mate. She just should have found a better way to do it. I would have been more accepting of her reincarnating Jane in another body and V having to woo that person.

message 230: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments I'll try anything once, Harper - I'd love to read it, so let me know when/where you post it!

'reincarnating Jane in another body and V having to woo that person'

Drq, I would have loved that twist to the story! What a book that would have been.

message 231: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments @ Tammy - Will do! I'll PM you.

@ Drq - I would have definitely preferred it if she had killed Jane off and reincarnated her. It would have been a good twist, I think.

message 232: by Ceej (new)

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments Just finished Lover Mine and I have to say Ward picked it up again. I can't figure out why she made the source of all evil so fickle but then Lash came by his narcissism honestly i guess. John and Xhex are now my favorite BDB couple. They fit better than Z and Bella. Rhage is still my favorite Brother though lol.

Two things. What's the deal with bringing Muhrder back in the abstract? I kept wondering when she was going to tie him into the story but I still don't get it. Also whyyyyyyyyy didn't she use this as the avenue to reveal who John is? It was perfect since she built a history between Tohr, Darius and Xhex? I'm beginning to seriously wonder about Ward.

That would had been great. Too bad she didn't think of that.

message 234: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i'm reading LM right now about 30% of the way through (John is heading out with Rehv to go get Xhex after she escapes)...I guess for me...at least, I try to remember that she probably has 2-3 books in the series in various stages of planning, so there are reasons why she does and does not include info...

message 235: by Ceej (new)

Ceej (drqangel) | 1015 comments Has anyone besides me pre-ordered Lover Reborn? Hoping this is one of the times B&N makes it available to pre-order before the actual publish date.
