Well, this is my 5th full time. I had a long-term sub position at the high school which would make it my 6th... I don't really count that though. It doesn't count toward my Promises count either.

message 307: by Drew (new)

Drew Becker (majordew6) | 142 comments ok, so u have watched to promises movie bout 30 times, but every time u watch it though out the day its the same seens so idk if that can count as like 6 times a year

message 308: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
I don't think it matters when I watch it... It's like I'm watching it 6 times in a row, I'm still putting in the Promises time. : )

I know that movie inside and out... which reminds me... I just got told Yarko and Daniel have a facebook page.

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments I watched it.

message 313: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments I haven't... but in AP world history, we're learning about cuneiform(Sumerian)! well, actually we're learning about villages, but Sumer and Mesopotamia are a part of it.

message 314: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
OOOOoooooo!!! What about villages?

message 315: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments actually agriculture villages. &how they first started when people stopped migrating as often and could start farming. then job specialization occured too because of the surplus of food! and the domestication of animals occurred too. that's a sum up of it (:

message 316: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
that's basically the same thing I'm teaching in 7th grade... geez. you've got it easy Eichorst... you've got it easy. : )

message 317: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments In normal geography and history of the world, so far, it's just cartography.

message 318: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments yeah but all the words in the textbook are big words i don't understand. lol &i have no clue what cartography is...

message 319: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments Cartography is the study of maps.

message 320: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments ohh. that makes sense since it's geography...

message 321: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
I knew what cartography is. : )

message 322: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments Hmm, I wonder why. lol

message 323: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
Probably because I'm a cartographer.

message 324: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments So that means you study maps, right?

message 325: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
I make maps. Supplemental income... need a map from your house to the school? I'm the guy to see. I'll make them all old-schooly and all...

Only a billion dollars.

message 326: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments Only? We aren't Cornelius Vanderbilt, we don't have that much money.

message 327: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
Give it a couple years. Inflation my friend... inflation.

message 328: by Jimmy (last edited Sep 06, 2011 01:10PM) (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments How about I just pay you in Zimbabwe dollars? I have over Z$750,000,000,000,000. Granted that is about $3

message 329: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments Hey i'm willing to pay in Zimbabwe dollars!

message 330: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments If only we could buy lunch in Zimbabwe Dollars.

message 331: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
You know your country is in trouble when the cost of printing the money is more than the actual money is worth...

I wonder how much it costs to make a penny...

message 332: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments Zimbabwe discontinued using the old Zimbabwe dollar, thankfully. And to answer your question, it costs approximately 1.5 cents to make a penny.

message 333: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments I thought it was illegal to rip or break American money in half? So how would they go about the half cent? Wait, they could make 2 at the same time which would even it out to 3 cents! But then that's just weird...

message 334: by Jimmy (last edited Sep 06, 2011 05:39PM) (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments The half cent was its own coin and not a literal half of a penny, it's its own coin. "Wait, they could make 2 at the same time which would even it out to 3 cents! But then that's just weird..." Welcome to America.

message 337: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments Nice. I just took it just so I can get all my credits out of the way as fast as possible.

message 338: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments Lucky! I am still waiting to get above a 80% on any test/quiz in history.

message 339: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments I think most, if not all of the tests I got back in Geo. and History of the world has been above 80%. Granted you are in the AP class :Þ

message 340: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
I wish I was in that class. I'm taking a class on tech literacy right now... I'd way rather be studying social studies. Or avoiding my work by posting on goodreads...

Hey. One of my wishes came true.

What are you guys studying in there right now?

message 341: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments Right now, in Geo and History of the world, it's like climate and what affect the Earth's natural feature has on climate.

message 342: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments In ap it's pre-columbous civilizations... like the Olmec, Zapotec, ect. We have a test tomorrow though...

message 343: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments We had a test yesterday. Now it's about world population and human geography. Pretty simple stuff.

message 344: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments again i say, lucky!!

message 345: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments I'd much rather be studying about pre-Colombian civilizations than that though. So you are the lucky one.

message 346: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments i beg to differ. haha then again history has always been my least favorite subject (no offence Mr.Habecker!). we're going to be learning about empires starting monday until sometime in january...

message 347: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments History has always been one of my favorite subjects. My least favorite subject is English, always has been. And empires is a very broad subject, empires have been in Europe and Asia for a while, so I'm not surprised it will take so long for it.

message 348: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 288 comments Has anyone on here ever heard of NaNoWriMo?

message 349: by Jimmy (new)

Jimmy converse (nbj55) | 359 comments No and yes. One of my friends told me about it, but if I never heard of it from him today then no. And I have a question for Habecker, what is the difference between racism and ethnocentrism?

message 350: by Philip, co-moderator-raider (new)

Philip (philiphabecker) | 391 comments Mod
Ethnocentrism is more broad... i.e. racism is a form of ethnocentrism. Patriotism and nationalism are also forms of ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism really deals with thinking any aspect of ones culture is superior to that of another culture. Race/Ethnicity is one aspect of culture.
