Linda Gore Is it "discussable," or just a good leisure read?

Camille I had Michelle as an instructor in a writing course last year, so I'm biased, I admit. She's a great teacher and, I think, a wonderful writer.

I think this is worth discussing from the point of view of relationships and how ordinary people react in extraordinary circumstances.

Danni Can someone tell me what happens at the end of this book? I was listening to it on CD and the last CD is broken. Does she find Emma? Did Lisbeth have something to do with it?

Janice She finds Emma in Costa Rica (takes 3 mo.), Jake has since given up and tells Abby if she goes to Costa Rica they are finished. When Abby calls tells him that Emma is safe he comes and gets her. Abby has to stay 2/3 days longer to pick out Teddy & Jane (surfer & women in van) in a line up. Once home, Jake can't get back together with Abbey tho she tries often and also just to see Emma. Abbey realizes its time to move on, Nick calls a few times to check on her and the end leaves it that Nick may end up in her life. Yes Lisbeth was in on it. Goofy also takes her out surfing once and Abbey becomes Goofy's Semi sister and they will keep in touch with each other once a month, birthdays, etc. Hope this helped.

Gretta Having read it, I could hardly believe Jake wanted virtually nothing to do with Abby after she found Emma. He should have been eternally grateful. He never would have found her were it not for Abby. I understand they could never have what they had prior to Emma's kidnapping, but how will he explain to Emma his treatment toward Abby when Emma is grown? I was disgusted with him when I got to the end of the book.

Janice Yes,he was a pretty sad character in the end, but it wasa to Abby's advantage in the long run, hopefully she and Emma will sometime connect in the future, but Abby will also hopefully be with Nick.

Barbara Does anyone know what happens in the 8 page download that's available for a fee? I have no way to download it and wondered if loose ends were cleaned up like it said they would be. I wondered what happened to everyone.

Selah My question - throughout the end, was how did Jane and Teddy have any idea Emma would be where she was when they grabbed her.

Another question... surely someone knew Lisbeth casually enough to ask how the search was going and if I were that person, I'd sure let the police know where to find her. Why didn't someone turn her in?

My guess would be that Lisbeth knew Abby had Emma for the weekend, and that she had Jane and Teddy follow her.

As for Lisbeth knowing someone who would ask her about the kidnapping, she didn't seem like someone who had any friends, and she probably never told anyone she had a child after she left her family.
