I think it largely depends on how strange you like your reading material.Bleeding Violet is *not* a YA novel. It may be marketed as such but there is a lot of sex [including an orgy:] in it.
I read the book. It was a quick read that kept me captivated but near the end and at the end, I continuously asked myself, 'What the heck did I just read?' Also, I still have no idea what the intent/plot of the book was.
If you like seriously bizarre books about demons, wraiths, etc., this is a book for you. If your tolerance for such things is minimal, you'll be better off reading The Morganville Vampire Series and The Evernight Series. Bleeding Violet has a lot of same themes you'll see in those two YA series.
Reading through the reviews, it sounds like a totally crazy book, and crazy in a good way. I think I will order it soon.. to bad there is no paperback edition available, hardcover is a little bit expensive for something you're not sure you like.
I originally had this book on my tbr shelf but then i read the reviews about the main character & her mom mutilating & killing a teenage boy while naked.WTF? I'm all for violence & gore but in a YA book aimed for young teens? I guess the family that kills, mutilates, & rapes together, stays together.

Even if it was marketed towards an adult market, it will still illicit the 'What the heck?!?' response because the violent orgy scene is just wrong on so many levels.
I have read some YA books that are NOT for Young Adult. Sometimes, I question, if they are for OLD ADULTS either. LOL

Thanks
