We're not judging the content of the book by the covers. We're just judging the cover art.

Cindy (Squin) | 120 comments I Love the Sookie books. I haven't read Dead in the Family yet since I just can't bring myself to spend almost $10 on a book that's barely over 300 pgs! Plus, Dead & Gone did not float my boat all that much. Still, I consider myself a fan and will continue with the series.

I love True Blood too, I've gotten through Season 3, but all I have to say is What the EFF have the writers of that show been smoking?! (view spoiler) I've come to realize that I can love both the books and the show if I consider them to be completely separate entities, they just both contain some of the same characters! That way I can enjoy the show without going "That's not how it happens!" They have changed SO much that it's barely recognizable, so in order to like it, that's what I do.

I feel the same way. I can't stand buying hardback copies because of the price.

Samantha | 432 comments I totally forgot to put the latest on hold at the library, so now I'm 162! :(
There are only a couple of authors that I will buy hardbacks for the same reason.

Mine doesn't even have it listed yet.

message 108: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments That is good isn't it Heather? You still have the possibility of getting it early.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments That's true. If you pounce before the others you might just snag yourself a spot somewhere in 1-10 on the wiating list!

message 110: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I just checked where I am and am #5 with 22 copies ordered. So I will be getting it right away.

In the past I would be much more excited, but the last couple of books have been so so.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Whoot! Whoot! Go Darcy!

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 185 comments I have been not been thrilled with the last couple of books either....I actually canceled my pre-order of the hard back copy I figured I would wait for used copies to be available and will check the book out from the library or get the audio from Audible.....

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments that's not good. Have the last couple changed drastically from the series?

message 114: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments The last book seemed like filler.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 185 comments Dead and Gone was not bad I was just not happy with what she did to some of the characters...but this last one Dead in the Family really seemed like filler...she could have cut quite a bit out and made it a short story for one of the anthologies she she does...

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Eek. fillers are never fun! I'm still waiting for the paperback releases for the last couple or so.

message 117: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) I really liked the last 2 books. Guess I must be in the minority.

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

I read Dead Reckoning and it was fine though not great. Idk if its nostalgia but I feel like the previous books had a lot more 'fire' in them. I feel like there is a weariness in both Sookie and the books? I still enjoy the books though. They're a fast read

I got so sad/angry on Sookie behalf when (view spoiler)

Something that I find kind of annoying of Sookie is the way she immediately judges Jannalyn. I thought it was ridiculous how she thought to comment on her and Sam's relationship because he's older then her by a decade, while Sookie is the one that is banging a guy a 100 times her age. I hope Sookie and Jannalyn become friends over time

message 119: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I read this one last week and I do think it was better than the last one.

I get what you are saying Zuleika about Jannalyn. I think it is because she is really jealous of anyone Sam dates. While she isn't dating him, it seems like he is her plan b, so anyone that does Sam could throw that into chaos.

As for Eric, (view spoiler)

That is how I felt when reading it...I did like this one better then the last two.... as for Eric (view spoiler)

message 121: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments It does seem like things are heading that way Nichole. I also think that plays into my theory with Sam.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 185 comments @ Darcy...I do think Sam is the logical choice for her to end up with but I have a feeling that CH is going to throw a new person in for her HEA

Gah! Spoilering something there.

Nichole ~Bookaholic~ (nicholebookaholic) | 185 comments sorry...did not think that would be a spoiler...just my thoughts on how she would possibly end the series...

Anyway, don't tell me if that's what happened since I haven't gotten to the new book yet. If it did happen I'm going to be screaming at the book.

message 134: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) I haven't heard great things about this book, but I'll read it eventually. Does anyone know if the series is ending anytime soon? It seems like the books are kinda going downhill.

I was able to still get into it, but some of the stuff that happened made me want to scream a bit.

message 138: by Jami (new)

Jami (gurugoodwin) | 53 comments I didn't like this book so much, it was just kind of filler material until the next book comes out. Hope the next one is better.

Ya, after book 4, you can leave them or take them. It doesn't matter so much.

I just finished Deadlocked. (view spoiler)

message 143: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I have honestly only read the first book I decided to go ahead and give it another shot even though I didnt like some of the things the first time that I tried to read it. Sookie was still annoying and Bill is uuugh. I have no words for him but he is a creepy creepy person and he seems to be some what of a user.

They dont have a real relationship its more of highschool/middle school he is my boyfriend we talk on the phone, sometimes kiss and other stuff kind of relationship. Nothing deep and I don't take it seriously at all.

I think the other guy in the book was named Sam. I liked him the best out of all the characters he is prob the only thing that will have me read the next two books that I own.

It was with this book that I now don't like Eric, I don't like the way he treated Sookie at the beginning and again at the end. It also made me realize that Eric is a weak person, he really needs a strong leader around him.

message 148: by Colleen (last edited May 22, 2012 04:07PM) (new)

Colleen | 172 comments did it bother anyone else that the situation with Eric in the beginning doesn't make any sense with anything else Harris has indicated before? (view spoiler) Granted Harris has a lot of issues with being consistent but it is usually with obnoxious small details like where her newspaper is, not things that dramatically effect the plot.

Other than that, I thought Deadlocked was a vast improvement over Dead Reckoning. There is a lot left unresolved at the end of this book leaving me wanting the next one.

message 149: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments Colleen you bring up good points. Maybe the whole feeding issue is a case of don't ask, don't tell, that if Sookie can't/hasn't seen it, she doesn't think of it.

message 150: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
