I also really enjoyed the Haroer Connelly series! I read them all in July and fell in love with Charlaine's writing all over again... but the editing in the books was atrocious!

I hope it's better than Dead in the Family. It was good but I though it seemed like an in-between book.

Same here, but after starting the series I love the covers and I'm glad they stand out from the rest. They've definitely grown on me.

Read to book 4 and then stop if it's not for you. If you don't like 4, you won't like anything else out there.
I have always hated the covers. I feel silly carrying them around.

I agree with you Heather, The books don't really get 'better'. The story evolves and the characters play out their parts, so if you are interested in the story then keep reading, if you are bored dump them, there's enough out there to read.
I get the point of the cartoonish covers, but if I ever wrote a book and that was what they picked for me I'd go a little diva and request that they try again.

Book 4 is the best in the series, IMHO. Read it and if you still don't like them you're not going to ever like them.

The characters sort of grate o..."
The books are quite a bit different than the HBO series. I've only watched season 1, and was disappointed. Definately give the books a try.

The new HBO ones actually make me a little more thankful for the originals. I hate it when I books cover changes to match the movie/TV show.

I know, the Vampire Diaries series really upset me! I mean, how can the leave out Meredith? You know what I mean.

Ditto.
Plus, how can bright green look anything but stunning with the dark purple background? The only other fictional character that can pull that off is Barney, so Sookie's movin' up in the world.

Plus, I'm wearing Barney colors right now . . .
I had to babysit a girl who was obsessed with Barney. I use to turn the channel to the Spanish channel and tell her we missed Barney in English just to get out of it. I couldn't handle it.

Barney has just never appealed to me. My mom likes to joke I was a 4 year old who could predict who was going to sleep with who and get killed off on all her favorite soaps.

My parents bragged about how smart I was as a kid. They kept telling the story of how I picked up the phone and dialed random numbers and managed to get my grandparents. One day I thought about it and realized that all I did was hit redial. No one, not one of the adults who ever heard the story, ever thought about that one little fact.
I could stand soaps as a kid. Can't now either to be honest. I don't know what it is, but I would flee the minute the shows came on.

Anyway, I loved Barney as a kid. Seriously, Barney sheets and everything....*runs away in shame*

General Hospital is to cheesy, for me anyway. the only soaps I bother watching are All My Children and One Life to Live. AMC is my moms soap, so I watch it to gossip. OLtL is my fav. Most of the time I just read up on whats happened and then watch the episodes worth watching.

The sad thing is that I know if I started to watch again it wouldn't be hard to pick up again.
I called soap time nap time. It's when I'd be forced to have it on the tv for a bit and then my grandma would fall asleep. I would then be free to run off and do as I pleased until she woke up. Then, I'd rat her out and tell my parents that I spend the day babysitting Grandma.

Darcy, I usually just read the summaries and then watch online the episodes I like. It's never to hard to sink in, the plot is so predictable I can usually just jump on board.

I have watched the first season of True Blood, but am somewhat disappointed in it, so I have decided not to watch any more of the show until the book series is complete. Then I will catch up on the show. Overall the show would be great if it wasn't based on the books. I know they have to change some things when going from book to movie/tv, but it is just a bit too much for me.
I watch the show and like it, but I enjoy the books much more. I try to see the book and TV as seperate things, but some stuff I am dissapointed with in the show because I think the book was a better portrayal. Like with the whole Queen Sophie-Anne thing. In the book she is regal and I love her weird unconventional relationship with her whole entourage (plus its super tragic the way they all end up), but in the show she is Paris Hilton-whiny-ish and there is no Andre or even the troll/viking twins :/

**POSSIBLE SPOILER SO COVER YOUR EYEBALLS**
I think eric and sookie should be together, under his spell he was in true love! they had such a wonderful time together!! I love Pam, she makes me giggle. And i wonder, if we develop synthetic blood, will the vampires reveal themselves to us? hmmm. I think we have proven we are all vampire addicts now. Oh and Living Dead in Dallas is my Fav because I live in Dallas. :) oh and SO FREAKING sad about Claudine!! omggg i cried my eyeballs out!! :(
