Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) | 14 comments Just finished The Undertakers Rise of the Corpses by Ty Drago Its a YA book but I really thought it had a unique feel about it and was very good for the first book in a series.

Elizabeth Drake (elizabethdrake) Stopped reading Dark Oracle (Oracle, #1) by Alayna Williams Can't put my finger on what it was that I didn't like... I got about 30 pages in and then quit. Perhaps it was the author's style... or the uninteresting main character. Oh well, life is too short for bad books.

The Night watch was not what i expected it about the Light and the Darkness. The light calling themselves the Night Watchers and the try to protect the people. It was different and I was thinking of stop reading it but after you get in a few chapters it becomes interesting.

message 1330: by Julia (last edited Jun 07, 2011 10:44AM) (new)

Julia | 615 comments I've read the first 156 or seven stories in Welcome to Bordertown by Ellen Kushner . It's brand new and for me it's like revisting a favorite place and dear friends. The first four Bordertown anthologies and novels were some of the first urban fantasy set in "a shared universe" a place where the human world and the world of faerie come in contact and sometimes conflict, where neither magic or science work predictably.
These can be read in any order. Here are some of the previous titles: Bordertown Where Magic Meets Rock & Roll by Terri Windling , The Essential Bordertown (Borderlands) by Terri Windling , Borderland (Borderland #1) by Terri Windling , Life On The Border. Finder by Emma Bull , Elsewhere by Will Shetterly , Nevernever by Will Shetterly .

message 1334: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I am listening to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson which is a good thing since it starts out boring as hell which is tough to get past but it does liven up some rather quickly.

This morning I will start Out of Mind (Court of Angels, #2) by Stella Cameron . I loved the first in the series so high hopes for this one.

message 1342: by Julia (new)

Julia | 615 comments Currently reading Huntress by Malinda Lo , which is more epic fantasy than urban fantasy, but with women as the primary characters. It's in the same universe as her book Ash by Malinda Lo from last year, but set hundreds of years before. So it's not necessary to have read that book first. Really liking it a lot.

message 1343: by Darcy (new)

Julia | 615 comments I'm reading My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira . It's historical fiction set during the Civil War, about a midwife who wants to become a surgeon, and that's fine, but the author can't write characters!
